DAPHNEThe silk of my ceremonial Luna gown clung tightly to my body, every seam strained against my wide hips and full thighs. I stood at the top of the pack altar under the light of the full moon, acutely aware of the hundreds of wolves staring up from the courtyard. I could already feel the judgmental friction humming through our shared pack link. In a pack that praised hyper-skinny, agile frontline female warriors, my plus-sized figure had always been an unspoken grievance to the elite elders. But I had never cared before tonight. I had run their entire infrastructure. I managed their modern territory logistics, optimized their border defense networks, and kept their treasuries overflowing. I had earned the right to be Tristan’s Luna-elect through sheer competence.I looked across the altar at Tristan, waiting for him to step forward, sink his fangs into my shoulder, and deliver the final blood-mark that would fuse our souls forever. He looked magnificent in his Alpha regalia, his

DAPHNEIt was quiet inside the armored SUV, but the man sitting next to me was incredibly hot to the touch. The Alpha's hand was clamped tight over my wrist, forcing my fingers flat against his chest. His skin was scorching beneath my palm. The smell of copper and wet pine filled the small space."Don't let go," he said. His jaw was clenched and his eyes were shut."I am not letting go," I said. My voice shook. I was shivering in my wet gown, and my body felt heavy and cold after Tristan broke our bond. "But your skin is burning.""It is the Lycan blood," he said, holding my wrist tight. "My family carries an ancient cursei. Our wolves are violent and difficult to control. The silver in these wounds forces the wolf to take over. If I lose control tonight, I will become permanently violent." He explained, my breath hitched as I stared at him waiting for a semblance of lie only to find none, he was serious, I had heared the mysteries of a curse but that was all it remained to me, a Myth

DAPHNEThe velvet drapes of the four-poster bed were the color of freshly spilled blood, blocking out the pathetic Northern winter. I sat up, the heavy silk sheet slipping down my skin. the jagged remnants of the shredded mate bond. Tristan’s rejection felt like an anchor dragging in my chest, but the vomiting had finally stopped.I looked at the bedside table. A heavy, dark emerald-green velvet dress had been left for me. It was aggressively tailored with a low, square neckline and a thick leather corset belt designed to frame a full figure rather than compress it.I pulled it on, the plush fabric instantly clinging to my wide hips and full thighs. In the Crescent Dawn pack, the elders had spent three years trying to starve me into the template of an agile frontline runner. Tristan used to look at my waist with an exhausting, silent disappointment every time I reached for a meal.I left the chambers, my boots clicking sharply against the cold obsidian floors. The air grew warmer the

MALAKAIFor ten years, my head has been a total slaughterhouse. Just a black wall of rabid screaming. I forgot what a quiet mind felt like.Until tonight.Daphne was dead to the world, her heavy, soft body completely draped over mine. Her wide hips were anchored right against my thighs, her head tucked under my jaw. My arms were locked around her full figure, holding her so tight against my bare chest that she couldn't have moved if she tried. My wolf wasn't fighting. He was completely sedated by the pure, intense heat coming off her skin. To a monster like me, her weight felt like the only real thing in the room. It felt like absolute luxury. She shifted against the mattress, her long blonde hair brushing my throat as she woke up. Her eyes opened, cloudy and dark with sleep. Then, she realized how intimately we were tangled. She froze, her breath hitching right against my skin as she looked up into my eyes."You're still here," she whispered, her voice rough and low."I'm exactly whe

MALAKAI"Alpha. The hall is waiting."Torin’s voice barely made it through the four-inch thick oak of the war room door. He didn't knock a second time. He knew better. He knew what my wolf was like when someone interrupted us, especially when the air in the room was so thick with her scent that a man could drown in it.Daphne’s body went rigid beneath mine. My hands were still hooked around her soft waist, my thumb pressed deep into the flesh of her hip, holding her flush against my chest on the edge of the war table. Her breath came out in short, ragged hitches, her cheeks flushed a dark, violent pink. The heat coming off her skin was like a fever, the only thing in ten years that could silence the rabid screaming inside my head.Stopping right now felt like pulling a serrated blade out of my own chest."We go out there," I rasped, my jaw resting heavy against the side of her neck, right over the dark purple mark I had bruised into her skin that morning, "and you stay right at my sid
