*Michael's POV* Elena told me about Rosalie on the drive home, but she told me about Switzerland only after we were inside the apartment with the door locked behind us. That order told me which conversation frightened her more. "No DNA," she said, placing her phone on the kitchen counter. "No dental comparison. No fingerprints. Victor Hale identified the body, and apparently a ring did the rest." I removed my jacket and hung it over the back of a chair. "What does the lawyer recommend?" "She is requesting the full autopsy file, the recovery photographs, and the accident-scene inventory." "Good." "That is all you have?" I looked at her. "What do you want me to say?" "Tell me I'm being ridiculous again." "I never said ridiculous." "You said old records were messy." "They are. This is more than messy." She rubbed one thumb against the side of her phone. "If the body wasn't my father, then where did he go?"No answer would help her sleep. "We do not know that it wasn't him."
