Chapter 1

"Elara, you are a criminal; you do not deserve to be a mother."I looked at Silas's cold face, his eyes burning with the light of vengeance.I was suspended in the center of the altar, my wrists and ankles bound in silver shackles.Silas sat on the dais, surrounded by every member of the pack."Echo loved you most, yet you watched him get attacked and still refuse to give us a single clue about the killer."Jesse stood behind Silas, roaring at me.She was the former Luna, was devastated by the blow, aging overnight as her hair turned completely gray. She was Echo's grandmother, the one who loved Echo the most, and the one who hated me the most.Silver nails were driven into me; with every movement, my wolf would wail in agonizing pain.Because of this prolonged and brutal torture, I gradually stopped eating and moving, and my wolf began to fall into a deep slumber.I trapped myself in the darkness, relying on the witch's healing magic to sustain my life."Stop playing dead!"Silas's vo

"Elara, why? Why would you protect the rogue who murdered Echo?"His voice grew increasingly unhinged as he forced my chin up, compelling me to look at Echo. The pup's adorable face came into view; my whole body began to tremble, yet I still didn't say a word. The vision began to warp and blur, and the pack's curses grew even more intense."She is in league with the killer!""She is not our Luna; she deserves to die.""Put her on trial! Give her punishment!"Familiar pack mates of the past bared their fangs at me, glaring viciously as if they wanted to tear me to pieces right then and there. My body trembled even more violently; my wolf , dormant for years, was stimulated into waking and kept sending desperate pleas to Silas.Tears streamed endlessly from my eyes as I tried to soothe my wolf .The witch's face blurred before my eyes; she hesitated for a moment and looked up at Silas on the dais.At his signal, she raised her hand and cast a calming spell on me.A blue light flared, and

"Alpha, you cannot do this!" the witch protested his command, unable to bear it."The mind is the most mysterious realm; I have already stimulated her memories to a massive degree””And we are now at the absolute limit of the safe threshold; to stimulate further... will cause damage to her mind."Jesse ordered anxiously: "She is an accomplice to the killer! So what if her mind is ruined? Today, I must find out who the killer is!"The witch looked at Silas; he fell silent for a moment before finally nodding.Silas 's slit pupils locked onto the witch：“Do it.”The witch could only pick up the two silver probes once again.Witch then violently injected magic into the probe, breaking past the safe limit to stimulate my mind once again.Buzz—My mind instantly felt a stronger surge of electricity; the silver probes against my temples seemed to turn into silver bullets, shot directly into my mind from a hunter's gun barrel. My wolf began to convulse, lacking the strength to even wail, before

Silas raised his head again, staring fixedly at the memory visions, waiting for the answer he desired. The witch used all her remaining magic to heal me, gradually bringing me back to consciousness. The memory visions in the sky continued to flicker, flashing by so fast that they were nearly impossible to capture any information from. After a long while, I finally opened my eyes and moved my lips."Stop, just stop, Silas."Silas stared at me with slit pupils, his eyes flashing with complex emotions: "You deliberately caused Echo's death, and you are still trying to find a way to evade your guilt!""Are you afraid now?”"Why weren't you afraid when Echo was in danger?"Tears streamed endlessly from my eyes.I sighed, struggling to muster the strength to answer him: "The answer... you will not want to see it.""Please, just stop, Silas."I looked at Silas again pleadingly; a struggle flashed in his eyes, but ultimately...He bared his fangs, reprimanding me: "Stop spreading baseless rumo

The face in the vision was hideous, his eyes glinting with an eerie light. His sharp claws easily grabbed my pup, disregarding his distress as he intently observed his suffering. My feet felt nailed to the ground, unable to move forward.By the time I could finally control my body, it was too late.My only pup...The pack stared at the cruel scene, everyone frozen in place in utter disbelief. They could not believe the person who had done this. That usually dignified face was wearing such a vicious expression. The face in the vision was none other than Silas. The pack couldn't believe it; everyone trembled, desperately trying to find proof that it wasn't their Alpha. But his stature, his fur, and the scars on his body all pointed to one undeniable truth: it was Silas. The killer in the vision bore a distinct scar. The scar became clear inch by inch, winding from his wrist to his forearm like a vicious black snake coiled against the skin.It was a wound he had received the year Silas an

The great hall erupted into chaos once again."The Alpha says he can't remember?""Isn't that as good as a confession? He can't even form a defense!""But he is universally known as the father who loved Echo more than life itself..."The cacophony crashed over him like a tidal wave, yet Silas seemed entirely deaf to it.He knelt on the floor, pressing his hands fiercely against his temples. The veins on his forehead bulged, as if he were trying to physically rip that blank void out of his skull.Jesse threw herself over him, sobbing and muttering "it's not true" on an endless loop.Yet her gaze kept drifting involuntarily toward the glowing memory projection, tears cascading down her face. The man's face in the projection had fully materialized. It was Silas. The Council of Elders could no longer remain seated. The High Elder rose, leaning heavily on his staff, his ancient voice cutting through the deafening noise."Everyone, there is something deeply wrong here. The Alpha's character

When I woke again, the bitter scent of medicinal herbs filled the air.I was lying on a soft fur blanket, my chest wrapped in thick bandages. Every breath pulled at the broken ribs, sending waves of dull, rhythmic pain through my body.I tried to move my fingers, and my fingertips brushed against a warm palm."You're awake."The High Elder's voice drifted down from above.Struggling to turn my eyes, I saw him sitting by the bed. He looked far older than I remembered, the lines carved into his brow as deep as if etched by a blade.Behind him stood two young healers, holding bowls of medicine and looking at me with complicated expressions."You've been unconscious for five days."The High Elder spoke slowly, his tone completely devoid of emotion."The Alpha... has locked himself in the dungeon. He refuses to see anyone."I opened my mouth, but my throat was too dry to produce a sound.A healer quickly offered a waterskin. The warm liquid slid down my esophagus, bringing a faint spark o

I stared at her, my mind going completely blank.Jesse stumbled into the room and collapsed to her knees beside my bed.Tear tracks crisscrossed her aged face. Those eyes that had once been as sharp as a hawk's were now filled with nothing but utter confusion and grief."Back then... I simply didn't like you. I thought you weren't worthy of Silas.""I had arranged for an Alpha from the borderlands to meet you. Nothing happened, but I told Silas that Echo's bloodline was in question.""I just wanted him to... neglect you, maybe even drive you away."She buried her face in her hands, sobs spilling through her fingers: "I never thought he would take it seriously. I never thought he would... I truly had no idea he would lay a hand on Echo!"Looking at her hunched back, the hatred I had harbored for seven years suddenly lost its foundation, hanging suspended in midair with nowhere to land.I had hated her. I hated every time she cornered me during Elder’s meetings, hated her blade-like glar

A week later, the pack held a general assembly.Silas stood in the center of the altar. He had grown gaunt, his cheekbones jutting out sharply, his eyes sunken deep into his skull.Yet he stood tall. The aura of his wolf was faint, but it was no longer as fractured as it had been in the days prior. He confessed to everything. The second personality, the loss of control, the murder of Echo, and his seven years of misunderstanding toward me.He didn't offer a single word of defense. Only at the very end did he lift his head, looking out at the sea of pack members below, and say, "I willingly submit to the judgment of pack law. A life for a life."Jesse stood up, wanting to say something, but the High Elder placed a firm hand on her shoulder, holding her back. The entire hall fell into a pin-drop silence. Everyone waited for the verdict.Silas didn't wait for anyone's response. He turned to me, his gaze piercing through the crowd to land softly on my face."But there is one thing I must
