Ethan pov;"Where is she, Mason?" I asked, my voice cutting sharply across the quiet space of my corner office.Mason looked up from his tablet, his eyebrows pulling together in a sharp frown. He adjusted his silver watch and glanced toward the empty desk across the room."Olivia?" Mason asked, his tone casual. "She went down toward the side delivery exit about twenty minutes ago to check an issue with employee security badges. She should be back at her desk right now."I did not answer him immediately. I stood up from my leather chair so fast it rolled backward and hit the wood-paneled wall behind me. A cold, heavy knot formed instantly in the center of my chest."Twenty minutes?" I repeated, stepping around the mahogany desk. "Olivia does not take twenty minutes for a simple badge check. When did she leave?""She left right after receiving a text message," Mason said, his casual expression vanishing as he saw the look on my face. He stood up straight, dropping his tablet onto the co

Olivia pov;"Let me go!" I shouted, straining against the tight plastic cords biting sharply into my wrists. The hard wooden chair scraped loudly against the dusty floorboards as I jerked my arms, but the bindings did not loosen. A wave of dizziness rolled over my head, and my stomach flipped violently. My eyes stung from the dry, stale air, and every muscle in my body felt stiff and heavy, as if I had been asleep for hours.Fear crashed over me in massive, freezing waves, stealing the air straight from my lungs. For a terrifying second, the modern office at Kingsley Tower, the bright sunlight on the Riverton streets, and Ethan’s warm hand holding mine all vanished. My mind snapped backward years ago into the dark, suffocating reality I had worked so hard to escape. My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird, and a hot ringing filled my ears. I couldn't breathe. The walls of the room seemed to shrink inward, pressing down on my chest until my vision blurred at the edges.N

Ethan pov;"Marcus, talk to me! Give me her location!" I shouted into the dead phone speaker. There was no answer. Only a loud, buzzing hiss filled the car.I slammed my fist against the steering wheel, the sharp plastic horn blaring loudly in the empty concrete parking structure. My chest burned with a hot, violent panic. I threw the town car into reverse, spun the wheel hard, and raced back down the circular ramp toward the street. I couldn't sit in the garage waiting for a signal that wasn't coming. When I pulled up outside Kingsley Tower, I didn't wait for a parking space. I killed the engine in the middle of the executive lane, pushed the door open, and sprinted through the revolving glass doors into the main lobby.Mason and Marcus were already waiting near the security desks, their faces pale under the bright white lights."Did you find her?" Mason asked, taking a quick step forward as I rushed past the security gates."Her phone went dead," I said, my voice shaking with cold f

Olivia pov;"Watch out!" I whispered sharply to myself as my heel caught on a hidden root, sending me stumbling sideways against a rough pine trunk. My shoulder slammed hard into the bark, sending a dull ache through my arm. I hissed through my teeth, pressing my hand against the wood to steady myself. The rough bark scraped my palm, but I didn't stop. I pushed off the tree and kept moving forward down the steep, sloping hill.Every breath burned my throat like swallowed fire. My legs felt heavy and sore, shaking with exhaustion from hours of being tied to that wooden chair. The heavy blue blazer I wore was torn at the sleeve where a sharp briar bush had snagged the fabric a few minutes ago. Small droplets of sweat stung my eyes, mixing with the cool autumn wind blowing through the dark trees.Through the thick wall of pine branches ahead, I heard a faint, rhythmic sound. Thump. Thump. Thump. It wasn't the snapping of twigs behind me. It was a steady, heavy vibration rolling through t

Ethan pov;I scrambled up a low grassy embankment and looked down into the open gravel yard behind the warehouse. The sight unfolding below was fast and brutal.Damian Carter was sprinting desperately across the open gravel lot, his designer suit jacket flying open behind him, his face twisted in a mask of sheer panic. He lunged toward the chain-link fence, trying to throw his legs over the top wire.He didn't make it.Two heavy-set police officers tackled him mid-air, bringing him down hard onto the packed dirt and gravel with a sickening thud. Damian let out a sharp cry as one officer pressed a knee firmly into his back while the other yanked his arms behind his waist."Stop resisting!" an officer yelled, slamming Damian's face down against the stones before clicking heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists with a sharp, metallic snap.I didn't stop to watch them haul him up. My eyes scanned the rest of the perimeter.Fifty yards away, near a row of rusted shipping containers, a stat
