Chapter 31: The rut

Asa I wake up to the sudden cold air hitting my butt cheeks, and before I can even register why I'm naked, a moan rolls out of me as Kirill's tongue touches that place that always seems to make me see stars. "Kill, what are you do—" I try to say, but the words disappear as another moan groans out of me when he bites my inner thigh. "Shh, baby. Let me enjoy my hole. No one else gets to eat this except me, right?" he says, saliva mixed with slick dripping from the corner of his mouth. Through the morning light coming from the window, I can see his pupils are so dilated the grey in his eyes is completely gone, leaving only a black abyss that threaten to swallow me hole. But something tells me I wouldn't even mind because the possessive hunger I see in them makes my stomach do stupid flip-flops and tiny. Even though it's probably just the rut for him, I don't seem to care. But then again, caring about rational things is something I seem to have lost around him because I'm self-destruc

Chapter 32: The cancelled game

Asa Every single bone in my body is screaming. I drag my jeans up with hands that shake so badly I can barely thread my belt through the loops. A sharp, ragged gasp rips from my throat the second the rough denim brushes against the fresh, dark purple bites marking my thighs. My skin is a roadmap of his possession—covered in raw bruises and the burning sting of the mark settling deep into the flesh below my jaw. I look like I got run over by a freight train, and yet the clock on my phone is ticking down mercilessly toward 1.00 PM. Match day. "You are not going anywhere, Grey," Kirill says flatly from the bedroom doorway. He stands with his bare arms folded across his massive tatted chest, his grey eyes tracking my frantic, painful movements with cold logic. "Your body is spent. Plus, I have a feeling you won't be skating today." "I am the captain," I hiss through my teeth, my voice a broken, hoarse rasp as I reach for my grey team hoodie, wincing as the fabric stretches over

Chapter 33: The service

AsaI don't know what to do.I pace the length of the apartment, phone clutched in one hand, my mind racing through every possible escape route like a rat in a maze. The first person I think of is my father. He has money. He has lawyers. He has connections that reach into every corner of this city. But he doesn't know.He doesn't know that his precious son is an Omega. He doesn't know about the blockers. He doesn't know about the years I've spent lying to him and Mom and everyone else. But maybe it's time I told them the truth. Maybe they'd understand. Maybe they'd help.I stop pacing.No.I can't. Not like this. Not because I'm cornered. The only reason I'd tell them now is because I'm desperate, and that's not fair. That's not the reason they deserve. And what if they look at me differently? What if Dad gets that look in his eyes—the one he gets when he's disappointed but trying not to show it? I shove the thought away. Then I think of Kirill. But what can he even do? He's a hockey

Chapter 34: The string puller?

Asa My body has been feeling off since the moment I stepped out of the funeral home. A cold, swirling nausea sits deep in my stomach, the kind the fresh blockers can't quite neutralize. I ignore it, gripping the steering wheel so hard my split knuckles throb. Kai and Toby sit in a heavy silence around me as we tear down the rain-slicked highway, heading toward the elite residential district on the edge of the city. We need answers. We need to look Rylan's parents in the eyes and force the truth out of them. But twenty minutes later, standing inside the massive marble foyer of their estate, the reality hits us like a physical blow. "We haven't seen him in three weeks, Asa," Rylan's mother whispers, her voice completely broken as she clutches a silk handkerchief to her face. "His phone has been dead since that Saturday match. We've already filed a missing persons report with the police, but the detectives aren't finding anything." The words turn my throat to dust. A violent, suffo

Chapter 35: The close call

KirillI'm still on the line when I hear it.A scuffle. A sharp breath. Then the unmistakable sound of a body hitting wet pavement. The phone clatters. Static. Rain."Asa?" My voice comes out sharper than I mean it to. "Asa. Answer me."Nothing.Then voices. Muffled and frantic. Someone shouting his name. Someone else yelling for an ambulance.Toby's voice cuts through the speaker, breathless and panicked. "Coach? Asa just collapsed. We're taking him to the hospital. I don't know what's wrong. I have to go."The line goes dead.I stand there in the middle of my apartment, phone pressed to my ear long after the call ends. My chest is tight. My heart is pounding. The rut is still simmering beneath my skin, but it's muted now—drowned out by something colder. Something I haven't felt in years.Fear.I dial Sam."Track Asa's phone. Now. And bring me clothes.""Where are you going?""The location of that phone. Just do it."He doesn't argue. He never does. But I can hear the smirk in his vo

Chapter 36: No more blockers

AsaThe first thing I notice when I wake up is the smell. It's not quite right, it antiseptic, cold and clinical which makes my stomach turn and the second thing I notice is the steady beep of a machine somewhere to my left. The third thing is the warmth of a hand wrapped around mine, grounding me and I know who it is before I even open my eyes.I blink my eyes open and find Kirill is sitting in the chair beside my bed. He looks like he hasn't slept. His jaw is tight, his eyes are dark, and there's a tension in his shoulders that makes him look like he's ready to snap someone in half."You're awake," he says quietly.I try to sit up but my body protests as my head throbs. And then I feel it—the absence of the chemical wall. The blockers. They're gone. I can smell myself. Sweet cream and crushed mint, unmasked and leaking into the sterile room.I panic."Where are my blockers?" I gasp, my hands flying to my neck, my chest, anywhere I can check for the familiar weight of the pills. "Kir

Chapter 37: Quit Hockey

Asa "What are you thinking?" I ask Toby, keeping my voice light even though my heart is hammering. "How could I possibly have anything to do with the coach?" Kirill gives me a look from the chair he is sitting, a sly smirk making it way into those lips of his and he raises an eyebrow but I ignore him. Toby hesitates before eventually "Don't be angry, okay? Ace but.." "That's never a good start." I state feeling my heart beating faster. "Your mom called me," he finishes. I freeze. "She couldn't reach you," Toby continues, his voice careful. "She wanted to know how things went at Marcus's ceremony. I told her you were at the hospital." The words hit me like a punch to the chest and I don't answer. "Ace, Asa can you hear me." Toby's voice is a little bit louder now. "You what?" I ask as I realise I've been holding my breathe hoping I heard him wrong. "I'm sorry, Asa. She sounded really worried. And I didn't trust leaving you alone with Coach, so I—" "You told my mother I'm

Chapter 38: Never alone

Asa The ride home is quiet. Not the comfortable kind of quiet. The kind that sits between people like a wall. My father drives with both hands on the wheel, his jaw tight. My mother stares out the window, her fingers twisting in her lap. Neither of them speaks. Neither of them looks at me. I lean my head against the glass and watch the city blur past. The hospital bracelet is still on my wrist. I can't bring myself to take it off. When we pull into the estate, Lily is already waiting at the door. The moment she sees me, she bolts across the driveway and launches herself into my arms. "Sasa!" She squeezes me so tight I can barely breathe. "You're home! You're home!" I hold her. For a second, everything feels normal. But then she pulls back. Her little nose scrunches up and she leans in and sniffs my neck. "Sasa," she says slowly, "you don't smell like anything." My heart stops. "Are you sick?" she asks, her brow furrowing. "You always smell like mint. But now you smell like...

Chapter 39: The spoiled brat tantrum

AsaHe keeps kissing me, his tongue exploring my mouth like he's afraid I'll disappear if he lets go. There's nothing gentle about it—not because he's rough, but because every second seems to carry everything neither of us has been brave enough to say. His hand tightens at my waist as I lean into him, forgetting for a moment how to breathe. Then his mouth travels down my jaw, into my neck, and I let out a startled moan as he bites down on my shoulder. He pulls my shirt off and tosses it somewhere on the floor. I can feel his hardening cock underneath my ass. Then he pulls back."Maybe you really should quit hockey," he says. "Don't you think? So you can stop with the damned drugs and just live as an Omega."My fingers twitch at his words. I move off his lap and look for my discarded shirt."Asa, stop it. What are you doing now? I thought we were done with the tantrum."But the minute I get hold of my shirt, I head straight for the door. Before I can turn the handle, Kirill pulls at my

Chapter 40: His hidden truth

Kirill The plan had always been simple. Asa was supposed to be simple. It was an in-and-out type of mission. When I came here from Russia, I never expected to spend even a month in this damned country. But the moment I first laid eyes on him, I knew he would be trouble. I still went on anyway. The more I got to know him, the more complicated things got. I thought he was an arrogant brat who used daddy's trust fund to get what he wanted. I thought he was so fucking up his own ass he'd been willing to destroy his own body just to be some Alpha. That somehow being an Omega embarrassed him. But I had accepted that about him too—after all, that was nothing compared to the ugly part I had expected. No one was going to forgive me for this. I should have listened to Ilya, as stupid as he is. Sometimes he made sense. Because as I'm sitting here watching Asa shake like a leaf with his head buried in his knees, I'm wondering if maybe letting go would have been the wise choice. I look at h
