"Yes, indeed it was beautiful."That voice made my head turn and my heart drop.It was Marcus, my cousin."Look... look, let me explain what you just saw, alright? It's not exactly what it looks like.""Oh, really? Because from where I'm standing, my dear beloved cousin is fucking her mother's new husband, in extension, her stepfather. So please enlighten me, will you?""Marcus, please don't tell my mother. It was only the first time, and things have been really rough around here."I could hear myself giving silly excuses, and none of them even made sense to me, much less another human being. Oh, this truly was the end for me.I glanced over at Aaron. He was in shock, pale and speechless."Aaron! Say something, will you?""There is nothing to tell. Look, Marcus, my boy, just don't tell Mary, okay? I really love her, and I know how bad this looks. Trust me, I do, but let's just pretend this never happened, please, boy."I was in shock. So all he could do was still proclaim his undying

“Hello, what do you want, Aaron? Why are you calling me again?I thought we both agreed we would give each other some space and never speak or hear from each other again after last night’s incident, so why are you calling me now?”On the other side of the line, he said nothing. All I could hear was his breathing.“So, you won’t say anything? Very well, I’m hanging up.”Before I did, I called out his name one more time, somehow hoping he would speak, but nothing. So I threw my phone out the window in a fit of rage.I could feel the tears starting to fill my eyes. I wiped them away.It shouldn’t bother me that he doesn’t see me as important enough to even check up on my health or ask how I’m doing. All he thinks about is my mother. What about me? Who will think of me then?“Hmm, Aaron. All I want is a bit of attention. That’s all, but of course, that’s too much even for you to give.”My tears blurred my vision, and I almost ran into a pole, leaving me swaying the car and almost killing

I couldn't sleep all night. I kept thinking about what could happen to me, to my child, to everything.I kept pacing around, hoping maybe I would come up with a plan, but nothing came to mind. With Josh not agreeing to help me, I was left with two options: tell Aaron and my mother everything or get rid of the baby. And, in all honesty, getting rid of the baby was not an option.I could only watch the sunrise as I felt my whole life slipping from my fingers. My whole life, everything I had lived for, was gone.As I lay down again, there was a knock at the door.It seemed Marcus had finally come for me, and I didn't think I would refuse whatever he said. It was all over anyway.I stood up, only to find Josh standing outside. He looked different quiet, hurt, and confused. He took a deep breath before asking,“How far along are you?”I was stunned at first, but I immediately got hold of myself.“I don't really know. It's a little over three weeks, probably.”“So you want me to lie that it

“Have a little bit of shame, or better still, control yourself. He is your mother's husband after all.”I turned around in shock, only to find Marcus standing behind me.“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare at them. I swear it was nothing like that. Josh and I are getting married, and with our child on the way, I would never... I swear to you, Marcus, so please don't say anything.”“I hope you keep your own end of the bargain, cuz, because if you don't, neither will I.”Before I could speak, he walked away towards Josh, congratulating him on both the baby and our marriage. This was it.I was really marrying Joshua Campbell and would eventually be forced to give him children. The thought brought tears to my eyes because I knew I was making a decision that would define my entire existence, and I could blame nobody but myself.Maybe I could have just gotten rid of the baby, but I couldn't kill my own child for any reason. So this was the best answer for everyone.I went straight into my ro

It was finally the day of my wedding. As I stood in front of the mirror, makeup done, I looked at myself, and I could barely recognize who stared back. The past few months had been so traumatizing, and now I stood marrying a man that I didn't even love, all to save myself from my mother's hate and the world's criticisms. This was my only honest shot out of everything, and I intended to go through with it.As I dressed in my gown, it was like I was sealing my fate forever, and the only thought on my mind was him. Even after everything, he was all my heart and head could cling to, not my mother and not anyone else, only him.Right there made me realize something. I was deeply in love and obsessive over Aaron, and it seemed it would always be that way. But life never gives you what you want, more of what you don't think you need. And I, for one, had accepted my fate.As I walked down the aisle by my father's side, I couldn't find him in the crowd. Not even one last glance, nothing. Stand
