All Chapters of Tricky Game The Luna And Alpha Fell Into:Would They survive?: Chapter 41 - Chapter 50

Dawn broke sharp and clear over the summit plateau, and the forty-one remaining contestants gathered before the ancient stone archway with the particular stillness of people who understood, without being told, that today would cost more than any trial before it.The woman in gray climbed a raised platform positioned directly before the archway, her expression carrying none of its usual cool detachment. For the first time since the competition began, something like genuine gravity marked her features."Today's trial is called the Reckoning," she announced. "Unlike every trial before it, this one will not test your ability to survive a maze, a forest, a mountain, or a chamber. Today, you will face something considerably more personal."She gestured toward the archway behind her, and the ancient stone seemed almost to hum faintly at the movement, symbols along its surface catching an unnatural shimmer in the morning light."Each of you will pass through this archway individually," she co

The final ascent began at first light, eight exhausted contestants shouldering what little gear remained between them, the true summit visible now above the plateau — a jagged spire of dark rock crowned with something that glinted faint and metallic even from this distance."That has to be the prize," Devrin said, squinting upward as the group began the last stretch of climbing."Or a cage," Alys murmured beside him, something wary in her voice that Joy shared entirely. The path proved brutal from the first hour, steeper than anything they'd faced on the Mountain Approach, forcing the group to rope together for safety across narrow ledges that dropped away into churning mist below. Joy climbed steadily, the umbrella's warmth a constant, quiet presence against her back, though it remained calm through most of the ascent — no warnings, no danger signals, simply steady companionship as she pushed her exhausted body upward."Something's strange about this climb," Torren observed during a

The final stretch of climbing proved the most brutal of all — a near-vertical face of dark rock, handholds worn smooth by centuries, the wind howling fierce enough to tear at exhausted grips with every upward pull.Joy climbed just behind Kian, the umbrella strapped tight across her back, its warmth building steadily with every foot of elevation gained, as though the closer they drew to the suspended prize, the more urgently it wanted to answer whatever waited above."Almost there," Ilse called from ahead, her voice thin against the wind. They crested the spire's final ledge one by one, hauling themselves onto a narrow platform of stone barely wide enough to hold six exhausted survivors. The suspended chest hung directly overhead, chains groaning taut against whatever ancient mechanism fixed them to the rock above.Below, at the base of the spire, the Omega watched with unhurried patience, his figure small against the vast drop separating him from the platform."Beautifully done," he

The growl rose again, closer this time, and the mist below the platform began to churn violently, as though something enormous was gathering itself for one final, terrible ascent."He's not done," Torren said, voice tight, dragging himself upright despite his wounded leg. "That fall should have crippled anything else. It barely slowed him.""He's ancient," Joy said, still catching her breath, the prize chest heavy and solid against her side where she refused to set it down. "Decades, maybe centuries older than any of us. A fall from here isn't enough to finish something like that."Kian pulled himself fully upright, favoring his torn shoulder, eyes hard and fixed on the swirling mist below. "Then we finish it a different way.""How?" Alys asked, glancing between the small, exhausted group and the vast drop where the Omega still lurked, unseen but undeniably present. "Everything we have left, we've already used. Joy can barely stand, you're bleeding from three places, and the rest of u

They carried the Omega down the mountain in restraints, six armed guards flanking him the entire descent, and Joy watched from a distance as the man who'd shaped every terror of her adult life was finally reduced to something small and broken, stripped of the wolf form that had made him seem invincible."Feels strange," Serena admitted, walking beside her down the winding trail. "After everything, expecting it to feel like more.""Maybe it will," Joy said. "Once the exhaustion wears off. Right now I don't think I have room left to feel anything except tired."The descent took the better part of two days, slower now that urgency no longer drove every step, the surviving contestants moving at whatever pace their battered bodies allowed. Medics met them partway down, treating Kian's torn shoulder and Torren's mangled leg with careful efficiency, and by the time they reached the base camp, word of the Omega's defeat had already spread through every remaining staff member and contestant st
