I laid on the bed as the lock clicked shut behind by the warriors. Asher ordered them to close it from behind but I had a feeling that Rhea will open it soon so I didn't argue with them. While down on the bed, I wrapped my arms around myself and stared at the wall. Everything replayed in sharp pieces: the fallen tree on the border, the way the mate bond had tried to pull my eyes back to him even while I hated him, the promise that he would kill me once he was finished with me. Calla’s name on his tongue like a blade. My parent’s death sitting heavy in my chest, the only reason I had not kept running until my lungs gave out. I needed to stay alive. I needed to stay long enough to make them pay. Just as l was lost in my reverie , l heard the door creak open but I didn't make a move. I wasn’t ready to face whoever he or she was. It was either Rhea or Asher.Every muscle was locked, waiting and listening until I heard those footsteps. Multiple sets. Heels clicking against the wooden floo

Asher followed me the moment I was thrown into his room. The heavy door slammed shut behind us, the sound echoing off the walls like a final verdict. For a second I just stood there, breath still uneven from the guards’ rough grip, and took in the space I had never been allowed to enter before. It was nothing like the sparse guest room they had locked me in. This place felt larger, darker, and heavier with power. Dark wood paneling covered the walls, polished to a deep sheen that reflected the low fire burning in the stone hearth. A massive four-poster bed dominated one side of the room, the black sheets pulled tight and military-neat.Heavy curtains blocked most of the moon light, leaving only the fire and a single desk lamp to cast long shadows across the floor. The scent of him, pine, steel, and something darker hung thick in the air, impossible to escape. Books lined one wall in perfect order. A leather armchair sat near the fireplace. Everything was expensive, and unmistakably hi

Asher went still above me. The silence that followed was worse than any growl. His eyes narrowed, cold and unreadable, as if he was deciding whether the plea amused him or simply irritated him further. "Ashe...",“No.”The single word landed like a slap.He released my thigh only long enough to fist the edge of the towel and yank it free in one brutal motion. Cool air rushed over my bare skin. The black fabric was tossed aside without a glance. I made a broken sound and tried to cover myself, but he caught both wrists again and pinned them above my head with one hand, forcing my body fully open beneath him."You don’t bargain with me,” he said, voice still flat, almost bored. “You don’t get ‘just tonight.’ You get what I decide you get.” His free hand dragged down my side, rough and proprietary, settling heavily on my hip. “Naked. Every night. Starting now.”I twisted hard, breath coming in furious, uneven pants. “Asher… this is fucked. We’re both men. Both straight. I don’t want this

DYLAN'S POVI woke to cold. The absence of heat against my back was jarring, a sudden emptiness that pulled me from sleep before my mind could catch up. My hand reached back instinctively, searching for the solid wall of chest that had been pressed against me, the heavy arm that had pinned me in place.Nothing. Just empty sheets.I blinked into the darkness, disoriented. For a moment I didn't understand where I was. The room was dark, the only light a thin silver line of moonlight slipping through the heavy curtains. My body ached in places I didn't want to examine too closely.Did Asher put me in another room?!My hand reached out instinctively, trying to look for him.Empty.Asher was gone.I pushed myself up slowly, the blanket that had somehow been draped over me sliding down to pool at my waist. I looked down at it, confusion flickering through my exhausted mind. I hadn't been covered when I fell asleep. He must have done it. Before he left. Why? Why would he?! The matebond twist

“I am not going there again.”The words left my mouth in a low, shaking growl as I backed away from him, one step, then another.“Well, you have no choice,” one of the warriors murmured.“I do have a choice,” I spoke as my hands curled into fists at my sides and instantly something sharp pressed against the inside of my palms, my nails, lengthening without permission, pushing past the soft edges of human fingertips into thick, curved claws. My gums ached too and I felt my canines begin to push longer, sharper, filling my mouth with the taste of iron even before blood was drawn.I was ready to fight them. The coaxing one noticed it. His eyes dropped to my hands, then flicked up to my mouth. “Don’t,” he warned. “You’re only going to make it worse.”I didn’t answer him. I just stared at them, my chest heaving, my blood roaring in my ears. The beast inside me was pacing, snarling, demanding to be let out.“Last chance,” Scar-eyebrow said, stepping closer. The others closed in from the sid
