All Chapters of To be Inlove with Maya: Chapter 11 - Chapter 20

Maya I caught Devon leaning casually against the doorframe, watching me intently right after I ended the phone call with my parents. As soon as we had made it back to his penthouse, I knew I had to call them immediately. They were expecting me to land back home today, and they would have definitely panicked if no Maya was waiting for them at the airport terminal. So I told Devon I needed a moment to speak with them, and he generously gave me his private home office so I could have some privacy. “So... how did it go?” he asked. “It went okay,” I admitted. “I had to tell a little white lie, though. I told them I was offered a massive international fashion job here in the city, and that I couldn’t pass up an opportunity like this because the experience would help our boutique back home grow even bigger... things like that.” He crossed his arms over his chest, eyeing me with a look that silently questioned why I felt the need to fabricate a story. “Devon, look... I kno

MayaSoon enough, after a prolonged battle of me practically shoving him out the front door, he finally left for work. (The man was literally begging for a quickie ten minutes before he had to be at his office—can you even imagine that?!) If I hadn't promised him that we could do it later the second he got back tonight, he would’ve never left the apartment. One thing I’ve quickly learned about this guy is that he is absolutely insatiable when it comes to sex. He gets turned on if I so much as accidentally brush up against him for a split second. Last night, we went for two more rounds. Two whole rounds right after that wild sex in the car!It made me so curious that I actually ended up asking him if he was always this relentless with his exes.He just looked at me and insisted that he’s never been this aggressive in bed with anyone else before. He told me that out of all the women he’s ever been with, I was the only one who truly awakened that wild, primal man inside of him.I to

Maya“So, how’s the New York girl holding up?” Luisa chirped cheerfully the second her face popped up on our video call screen.“Here I am, living like a certified bum—just eating and lazing around. I’ve probably gained ten pounds already,” I joked by way of greeting, leaning back on the couch and holding up the half-eaten ham and cheese sandwich left over from the breakfast Devon and I shared before he left for work this morning.“Hey, at least he’s not starving you!” she laughed before her expression grew a bit more serious. “How’s the job hunting going, by the way?”“Well, I’ve submitted a bunch of applications, but I haven’t gotten a single callback yet. I’m starting to think my portfolio just isn’t up to New York standards.”“Don’t lose hope! It’s just not your time yet. Your designs are top-notch back home in the Philippines—one of your pieces even got featured in a major fashion magazine, remember?”“That was local, though,” I said, letting out a soft sigh. “International stand

MayaKnowing that Devon was half Filipino and half American, I fully expected that most of the relatives we were meeting today would be of American descent.I couldn't have been more wrong. The vast majority of them were Filipinos—especially his uncle, the birthday celebrant, who was his mother's older brother. They were the kind of well-established Filipino-American family that had truly built a name for themselves in the States. Devon once mentioned to me that his maternal grandparents were the original immigrants who first made the leap to move here, starting a new life completely from scratch. Now, three generations later, the family had grown to at least fifty relatives and was still expanding. They owned prime real estate, held impressive corporate and professional careers, and had clearly worked hard all their lives to build a solid legacy here.Yet, in spite of their high social status, they were incredibly down-to-earth.I didn't feel out of place for a single second. Ever

Maya’I’m two days late.Yep.My worst nightmare might actually be unfolding right before my eyes.I’m still clinging to the smallest sliver of hope that it’s nothing more than a delayed cycle—a result of stress, exhaustion, or anything else. After all, it’s only been two days. That doesn’t automatically mean I’m pregnant… right?I’ve decided to wait another two weeks. If my period still hasn’t come by then, I’ll buy a pregnancy test.God.A pregnancy test.Even thinking those words makes my stomach twist into knots. No matter how many times I try to reason with myself—reminding myself that I’m a grown woman, not a terrified teenager—the panic refuses to quiet down.Because the truth is painfully simple.I’m not ready. And Devon is even less ready. That’s the reality, Maya.I released a slow, shaky breath, hoping it would loosen the tight knot wrapped around my chest.“Babe, what’s wrong?”I blinked and looked up, only then realizing I’d been staring blankly into space with my fork su
