All Chapters of Maxed-Out Love: She Left Me to Die: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

Ever since ruining my health, I had to rely on specific targeted medication every day to stay alive. The medication was incredibly expensive. However, stopping the medication would be akin to giving up on my life.I recalled the past when Stella first learned about my condition. She'd reacted as though the sky had fallen as she knelt before the doctor, begging him to save my life. The moment she learned about the existence of the targeted medication for my treatment, she said, "Noah, I swear to God that I will never give up on you! We'll continue with your treatment no matter how expensive it gets!"But now, the cheap medicine box lay before me in the bag like a joke.I inhaled deeply and swallowed the metallic taste of blood welling in my throat. Then, I grabbed my phone and sent my doctor a text message."I've decided to give up on my treatment, Dr. Peterson."…Stella seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth for the following week. I also stopped staring at her t

"Isn't your girlfriend some sort of CEO?" Dr. Peterson asked. "She used to accompany you here all the time. Why wouldn't you have the money to afford the surgery? You've already been on targeted therapy for such a long time. How could you just say that you're giving up now?"His eyes were round as he stared at me incredulously. After all, Stella always came with me to the hospital for my appointments last time, and he knew who she was.Yet, when he realized that I was firm about my decision, he sighed in defeat and looked at me with pity. After leaving his clinic, I was about to leave through the hospital main entrance when someone suddenly called out after me.I turned and saw a young woman walking up to me. She looked rather familiar. I racked my brains for a name to match her face and finally recalled that she was my college junior, Audrey Carter. If I recalled correctly, Audrey had studied abroad for several years in the medical research field. She had also kept in touch with

Stella even began texting me with different phone numbers and harassing Audrey."Noah, I've found a medical team that can treat your condition. Where are you? Can you send me your location?"Your illness is very serious. Stop being so temperamental. I'll explain everything to you properly about Damon and me once you're back."I promise that I'll marry you if you'll be good and come back."Stella was still behaving the same way she used to in the past, refusing to give up on something the moment she set her heart to it. I knew that ignoring her and playing dumb wouldn't change her mind. Knowing her personality, she would still track me down no matter what. Also, there was the fact that she wouldn't stop harassing Audrey.I let out a long sigh at that thought and finally caved, Facetiming her ultimately."Noah! I knew that you would eventually come looking for me. Where are you now? I've searched everywhere for you. Please don't make me worried, okay?"I've spent a lot of money

"Noah? Are you still feeling unwell anywhere? Let me go and get the doctor…" Stella said.I subtly withdrew my hand from her grip without an ounce of warmth in my eyes."You don't need to keep me company in the hospital anymore. We've already broken up.""Are you still angry at me? Don't worry, I've already cut off all contact with Damon. I also told Mom and Dad that I was only marrying you. They've agreed to it. We'll go home and hold our wedding once you've recovered. Let's stay together for the rest of our lives."Her eyes were filled with hope, but I still didn't feel a thing."No. Let's not."The smile froze on Stella's face. She straightened up somewhat helplessly as she stared at me."I don't love you anymore, Stella Nielson. In fact, if you never saw my medical report, you would probably still think that I was lying to you. You've never properly looked at me even once ever since Damon came back."She kept shaking her head as she listened to what I said. She wanted to ex

"I never looked down on you!" Stella exclaimed. "I only switched out your medication because the one you were on had terrible side effects! I couldn't bear to see you throw up every day until you were unable to sleep at night from the pain. That's the only reason I switched it to a milder one!"And it wasn't that I didn't want to lend you the 15,000 dollars! I was just scared that you would use the money to buy more of those self-destructing medications for yourself. I didn't want you to become dependent on them!"I don't know what Damon said to you, but the only person I have ever loved is you!"As she finished speaking, she looked up at my expressionless face and hesitated. Her gaze then fell on Audrey next to me."Or, is it that you're leaving me because you've fallen for someone else? You're leaving together with her, aren't you?"Stella would rather hear me say that I'd fallen for someone else than believe that I didn't love her anymore. After all, she had always been a proud
