Chapter eleven: The shape of fear

Rhience“Your majesty, I suggest extra guards on the kingdom borders, especially blood moon pack borders, seeing as it’s almost on the outskirts of the kingdom.” Alpha Sol of blood moon park gives a suggestion and I nod my head at her words. Her pack warriors have been seeing stray vampires along the kingdom borders and they’ve been getting rid of them. However, we need more protective measures in case they decide to strike in mass numbers. I’ve been in this meeting since my mate went shopping and I already regret not spending time with her. “Sure Alpha sol, and don’t hesitate to inform my gamma if you need help. It looks like Nazar is getting too brave. We’ll have to figure out a way to take him do-,” My sentence gets cut off with a sharp pain in my head.“Argghhh” I grunt deeply as I feel like my head is about to explode.I feel my eyes flash dangerously.“Fuck” from the corner of my eyes I see the other people in the meeting room scurry away and the guards brace themselves. But the

Chapter twelve: I just want you…

Lisandra I wake up the next morning, feeling disoriented for a couple of seconds “Where am I?” I ask myself, looking around and noticing that this isn’t the room I slept in last night. It’s another room and I feel even more comfortable in it. It’s bigger and more masculine and it smells like Rhience… wait a minute. What the hell am I doing in Rhience’s room? I sit up and that’s when everything starts coming back. My shopping trip with Gloria, the loud voice and the threat in my head. Me passing out and waking up to Rhience with his head on my lap. “Shit!” Now I’m fully awake. I can’t believe I slept in Rhience’s room. But if I did sleep here then where did he end up sleeping? My face becomes warm all of a sudden. Did he sleep here with me? I’m about to get up when the room doors open. Gloria and another woman come in with maids tailing them, holding trays containing different types of food. “Lisa, I’m glad you’re awake!” Gloria exclaims as she sits on the bed, giving me a s

Chapter thirteen: Escaping boring meetings

LisandraHe comes into the room and my breath hitches in my throat. This man has an aura that surrounds him. It’s like I can’t control my body when I’m around him. But now is not the time to start thinking about my body’s reaction towards him. I need to snap out of it and tell him the main reason I called him.“Darling.” He greets, taking my hand and pressing his lips on it. My body heats up and I think my face does too, but I don’t say anything about it. If he notices, he doesn’t say anything too.“You look beautiful.” I get the urge to smile at his compliment but I hold it in.“Thank you. Um… where did you sleep last night?” A slow smile takes over his lips at my question.“I slept on this bed. Any problem?” He asks smugly and I want to just chuck a pillow at his face.“Why didn’t you sleep on the couch over there?” I point at the comfortable looking couch. He looks like he wants to laugh at my question and quite frankly he has every right to because that is one ridiculous hell of a

Chapter fourteen: Unlocking spell books and first kisses.

Lisandra First off, this place is big. I was expecting some small, cooped up store but clearly that isn’t the case. The place is really dusty but it’s what I see inside that makes me gasp in awe. “This is also where we keep instruments post war.” Rhience mentions as we walk through layers and layers of dusty items. It’s clearly a post war storage because I can clearly see plenty of instruments that shouldn’t be in a Lycan’s territory. Metal armor and swords, shattered crystal focci, sunlight reflectors. I even see a stake which is bigger than my hands. He stops at a section and it shocks me even more. “Is that an amulet breaker?” He just smiles at my question and he reaches for a heavy looking book. The heavy covers of the book looks like it’s made from animal hide and the edges are plated with brass. But its locked. “This is one of the spell books that we retrieved from the last war.” He uses his hands to dust the book. “It hasn’t ever been touched since it got here, because

Chapter fifteen: Bonding Promises

Lisandra I break the kiss and pull away from him even when I don’t want to. “I-,” I don’t complete my sentence and run out of the storage room with the book clutched to my chest. Once I’m within the confines of my room, I sink down to the floor and I touch my lips which still feel warm. Goddess! I felt like I was floating on the air with that kiss. His lips were so delicious. I could taste a hint of peppermint and lemon. I close my eyes and I try to get the image out of my mind but it’s not working. I shouldn’t be thinking about Rhience right now. I should be thinking of my plan to find my roots. I should be thinking of finding answers to the questions I have in my head instead of thinking about Rhience. I think I need to stay away from him, but I physically can’t. It’s like there’s this invisible string that’s always pulling me to him and it’s too strong to resist. I have to try though. I open the first page of the heavy book and I read out loud. “Grimoire of House Ravencrest: A

Chapter sixteen: The first episode.

LisandraTwo weeks later The packed dirt of the secondary training ground still holds the day’s heat under my bare feet and dust drifts in the golden light as I move through another sequence, trying to control my breath as my muscles burn tirelessly. Mona circles me, her features tight and giving nothing way.“Again,” she commands. “Keep your guard higher. You’re dropping the left side when you pivot.” I reset my stance, sweat already darkening the back of my training top. “You’re faster than last week.” She says as a small encouraging smile graces her lips. “Thank you Mona. You’re a great teacher.” I tell her because in all actuality, she has been great of a teacher. I can feel myself getting stronger each day because of how hard she trains me. We’ve been training physically for two weeks now and I’ve also been practicing my magic in the confines of Rhience’s room. He hasn’t been around lately because he has been traveling to different packs for meetings, but whenever he’s around

Chapter seventeen

Lisandra “What? What episode?” My heart clenches with worry as the girls hold my hands and rush me into the palace. They don’t answer my question and they just take me to my room and once they shut the door, Gloria starts to pace around, a mixture of fear and worry on her face. “Why are you guys not answering me? I demand to know what is happening to my mate.” It’s the first time I’ve ever proclaimed him as my mate in the open and I don’t even have time to register it when I feel a sharp pain over my heart.“Aaaarrgh.” I crouch down in pain and the girls come to help me to the bed.“Shit Lisa! Are you okay? What’s happening to you?” Gloria asks and I shoot her an angry glare.“I would know what’s happening to me if one of you just told me what is happening to Rhience.” The sharp pain in my chest hits again and that is when Mona decides to speak up.“It’s the curse.” I raise a questioning eyebrow at her response because I thought that the curse was lifted when he found me as his mate

Chapter eighteen: The calm before the storm

LisandraSilence greets me as I call out his name and I see him sitting on the dirty floor. His hands are chained to the wall and they look like they’re burning his wrists. His head is bowed and he looks to be unconscious. He has been stripped off his shirt and I can see the faint battle scars on his chest and his defined body. He is covered in sweat and some of his hair even sticks to his face.“Oh Rhience. What did they do to you?” I say softly as I walk to him. I squat down when I’m in front of him and I reach out my hand to touch his face. Before my fingers can even graze his skin , his shackled wrists catch my wrist in a bruising grip. He looks at me, but his eyes are not flashing yellow like it normally would. It’s pure black, even the whites of his eyes are black. He looks…possessed. A whimper of pain leaves my lips as he pulls me forward, making me land on his lap.“Rhience, what are you doing? You’re hurting me. Please let me go.” I don’t think that he can even see or hear me

Chapter nineteen: The nightmare with orange magic.

Lisandra I’m in a dream, or rather a nightmare and the darkness of the dream presses in around me like a living thing. I am standing in a clearing that somehow looks real, but isn’t and the air is thick with the scent of something vile and bitter, like burnt herbs and skin. Orange light coils through the shadows. It is swirls of magic that twist and pulse as if they have a heartbeat of their own. There’s a woman wielding the orange magic, even though I can’t see her clearly. But I can tell that she is tall and sharp, and she moves with the elegance of someone who has wielded magic for a long time in her life.“You wretched Anomaly! You are not supposed to exist in this world.” She spits in the most venomous voice I’ve heard before she strikes at me without holding back, an orange spark charging from her palms. Before i know it, I’m already defending myself against her blast of magic. My hands rise on instinct and a purple blast leaps from my palms. It immediately collides with her o

Chapter twenty: Border Patrol

Lisandra I wake up the next morning and I don’t find Rhience in bed with me. He’s not anywhere in the room and I become frantic with worry. Could my dream have been real? Before I can even stand up to go and look for him, he comes in through the door of what looks to be his bathroom with only a towel wrapped around his waist. The upper part of his toned, muscular body is exposed, with water sliding down the hard lines of his chest and ridges of the scars that represent every battle he has ever fought. Heat floods low at my belly and my mouth is left hanging at the beautiful sight in front of me. I then hear the clearing of throat and I look up to his face to see a dark look on his face. His pupils have become darker and he looks like he is… Aroused?. That is when I realize that I have been silent for a while, just drooling over and admiring this beautiful man and that my pulse is going erratic and wild.“Darling… You’re staring.” My cheek flushes at his words and I quickly look away.
