Danny’s POV “Shouldn't you be the one lying on this bed?” I asked Chadwick, crossing my arms over my chest. He was sitting right beside me in an armchair, looking entirely too comfortable for a man who had almost died. The attending doctor had asked him at least five times to return to his own private recovery ward, but Chadwick had simply growled and refused to budge. “No, Danny. You need to rest,” he insisted softly. He reached over and ran his broad, calloused hand through my hair, stroking it like I was some delicate, fragile porcelain doll that might shatter if he touched me too hard. I cringed internally.
