NORA POVI leave Davis's office and head back to my desk. I sit down and stare at my computer for a moment. His warning keeps replaying in my head.Until they know exactly how the leak happened, they don't know who they can trust.I push the thought aside. I already have enough to deal with. I need to focus on work.I open the Orion files and force myself to concentrate. For a few minutes, I actually manage to focus, but then my mind drifts back to the hospital.Mum needs treatment. The bill is still waiting, and I still don't have enough money.I press my lips together. I've tried every possible way to find a solution, but nothing is working. I can't keep hoping something will suddenly change. I need to find another way.But what?I shake my head and return my attention to the screen. One problem at a time.I continue going through the Orion documents, starting with the latest security report and comparing it with the previous version. At first, everything looks normal. Then I notice

NORA POVI stare at Davis.“What does that mean?”Davis doesn't answer right away. He keeps looking at the screen while Jayden stands beside him.I step closer, trying to see what's on it, but Davis tilts the screen away from me.I narrow my eyes.“Who is it?”“We don't know yet,” he says.“But you said the account belongs to someone on your side.”“We're still checking.”Jayden stays quiet. The way they look at each other makes me uneasy. It's like they understand something I don't.“Is there something I should know about?”Neither of them answers.Jayden looks at the screen again.“Oh,” he says quietly. “You mean it could be…”His eyes move toward me, but he stops.“Could be what?” I ask.“Nothing.”Nothing?That doesn't sound like nothing.Davis looks at Jayden.“Yeah. I was thinking the same thing.”He pauses.“But I hope it's not what I'm thinking because that would be…”He cuts himself off.My stomach tightens.“Because it would be what?”Neither of them answers.I look from Dav

NORA POVThe taxi stops in front of the hospital. I pay the driver and quickly get out with Mai. The evening air feels cooler than it did earlier as I take her hand and hurry toward the entrance. My mind is still stuck on everything that happened at Rowan & Co. Davis. The meeting. The Orion investigation. And how close he came to seeing Mai.I push those thoughts aside. Right now, Mom comes first.I reach the lobby and walk straight to Mom’s room. When I get there, I find Lucy sitting beside her bed. She looks up as soon as I walk in.“You’re here.”I nod. “Sorry I’m late. Work was so hectic today that I didn’t even realize how late it was.”“It’s okay. You really look tired.”Lucy looks at Mai. “Did everything go okay?”“I’ll tell you later.”I look at Mom. She’s resting with her eyes closed.“How is she?”“She’s been resting since this afternoon.”I let out a slow breath. At least she looks peaceful.I turn to Lucy. “I need to get the medication.”She reaches for the list. “It’s her

NORA POVI return to my desk and slowly sit down. For a moment, I just stare at my computer screen. Orion is on hold for now. The information isn’t ready to be shared, and nobody has said when the project will continue.I open the files for the other work waiting for me and force myself to focus. There’s plenty of regular office work I can do... emails, reports, documents that need reviewing. Simple things I should be able to focus on.But my mind keeps going back to what Davis told me. Someone with legitimate access had opened the Orion files. Someone inside Rowan & Co.That part still bothers me.I try to push the thought away and focus on my work. I manage to get through a few lines before I hear a voice.“Nora?”I look up.Melissa is standing beside my desk.“Hey.”She gives me a small smile. “Busy?”“Trying to be.”She pulls the empty chair beside my desk closer and sits. “I wanted to ask you something.”My fingers stop moving.“Okay.”She glances around the office before lowerin

DAVIS POVThe door closes behind us.I don't speak immediately. Neither does he.I walk to my desk and place the folder in my hand on the table.“You shouldn't have come here.”He gives a quiet laugh. “And yet, here I am.”I look at him. “I told you this isn't the place.”“I know.”He walks farther into the office and takes a seat without asking. I stay standing.“What do you want?”His expression changes.“We need to talk about your father.”My jaw tightens.“This isn't about him.”“Isn't it?”He leans back. “Everything involving this company is about him.”I say nothing. He watches me for a moment.“You know what he expects from you.”“I know what he expects.”“And?”“And that's between my father and me.”He gives me a knowing look.“You've been saying that for months.”I look away. The conversation with my father from earlier that week comes back to me.*I understand, Dad.**But you have to understand me too.**You know my belief system.*I had hoped that would be enough. It wasn't
