‘Evadne’s Point of View’Who did he think he was? Making me feel flustered like that. I didn’t need any stupid herbs, I just needed to get out of there. Never knew the prince was such a flirt.Calm down, Evadne. I stopped in my tracks. You’ll probably never see him again, right? Who was I kidding, the kingdom gates are literally the closest to this village, of course I’m going to see him again. But why was I feeling this way? Maybe it was something in the way he looked at me, or…Before I could gather my thoughts, the sound of hooves hitting the ground rang out once again. I hadn’t walked too far from the clinic so it was audible. His men were probably here to take him.I was about to go back before I remembered I hadn’t picked any herbs like I said I would. I didn’t really have time to choose, so I crouched down and blindly plucked a handful of some random leaves. Upon reaching there his men were already helping him to his carriage. He was wearing a coat now, as he was about to e

‘Evadne’s Point Of View’ “Please help me!” the woman cried out. Kael opened the door and my heart sank. Standing there was a woman covered in blood from head to toe, a deep gash sat on her forehead. Her eyes widened as she saw Kael. She moved to bow but her body failed her. She swayed, but Kael caught her in an instant. I rushed to prepare the sedatives. “Please lay her on the cot,” I urged. He effortlessly picked her up, then laid her on the cot, blood staining the dark fabric of his tunic. “Sorry you have to get caught up in this,” I said to Kael. “It’s fine,” he replied. I walked over to her, antiseptic in one hand. sedative and ointment in the other. “Can you hear me?” I asked in a whisper. She nodded faintly. Kael interjected. “What’s your name, and who did this to you?” His expression darkened. I had never seen such a look on his face. She swallowed. “My name is Mira… and my husband did this.” She hesitated, then went on. “This isn’t the first time, but today w

‘Zekiel’s Point Of View’ “Where on earth is Kael?” “This is beyond sickening.” “He needs to come. Now.” ******** ‘Evadne’s Point Of View’ “You’ll see.” The words still played in my head. What did he mean by that? I was about to press the matter, when the violent neigh of a horse startled us, sending Kael bolting outside the door, which I realized had been left open. I limped right after him, assessing the open space. How did I not notice sooner? “Hey! you left my door open!” I was about to protest but I suddenly stopped. My mouth gaped in awe when I saw Kael stroking a beautiful white mare, making me forget everything I was just thinking about. Though I couldn’t shake off how terrified it looked, even as Kael tried to coax it. “It’s so beautiful!" I exclaimed, not knowing when the words came out of my mouth. “Someone was here.” Kael’s words landed heavily, his eyes searching the vast space. That was not the reply I was expecting and the statement

‘Evadne’s Point of View’ The first thing I did the next morning was to go see Mira. I knocked on the door once and it was opened in an instant. Mira stood there, shock written all over her face. “Wow. I didn’t expect you to come here again,” she said as she gestured for me to come in. I stepped in and took a seat on a wooden chair, while she sat opposite me on a small bed. We stared at each other for a while. The swelling on her body had gone down and the stitch didn’t seem to be bleeding through the bandage. She broke the silence. “Are you okay?” She stopped before going on. “I mean I’m glad you went out of your way to see me but your eyes…” I rubbed my temples. “Is it that obvious?” She giggled. “It looks like you haven’t slept in days.” “Maybe I haven’t.” My gaze drifted to a latch on the floor. “I came to see how you were doing, especially since you still sounded worried afterwards. Also…” I couldn’t bring myself to finish what I wanted to say. “Firstly, I’m okay, E

‘Kael’s Point Of View’It had been two days since the incident with Lucien and the maid. Zekiel and I had gone back to the dungeon, the day after, alongside the palace healer but the maid wouldn’t let anyone get close to her. Not necessarily violent but just resistant and it was clear the healer was afraid but tried to mask it. So we let the maid be for now since the cuts looked slightly calmer.I had been sitting in my chambers thinking of everything, when a knock snapped me out of my thoughts.“It’s open,” was all I said.My eyes were glued onto the door till the person stepped in.Zekiel.I looked away right after.“What do you want?” I asked.“Actually one of the guards from Dawn’s Rest is here to see you.”The statement immediately caught my attention.“Let him come in.”The soldier walked in anxiously like he had misplaced a piece of jewelry worth everything.“S-sir, there’s an issue.”“Speak!”“O-okay. The man you ordered us to arrest the other day…” he drifted off.I raised
