The Invitation

I sit on Landon’s bed with a book open on my lap, pretending to read while he chats on the phone with his new boyfriend. They’ve been talking for at least thirty minutes, and I’ve barely read a single sentence. I just can’t focus. Yesterday after work, I went home, showered, grabbed my essentials, and called Landon to see if I could crash at his place. He was thrilled, and last night we stayed up talking about random things until past midnight. His roommate, though, was a complete jerk—possibly worse than my own. When he found out I was staying over and sharing Landon’s bed (since there are only two beds in the dorm), he freaked out, called us names, and stormed out. That was… unexpected. Now it’s Friday. Landon and I attended our morning classes, and we’re back with the whole afternoon ahead of us. But as he lounges at his desk, chatting and giggling with his boyfriend, I’m left here trying to tune out their conversation.“Yeah, I’ll think about it,” Landon says, propping his feet up

On Edge

“No, you didn’t!” Landon exclaims, eyes wide with disbelief. Honestly, it still feels surreal. I can’t believe I agreed to go to a frat party with Blaze. And not just any frat party—Fox’s frat party, with Fox’s best friend. This whole thing feels like a setup for disaster. Nerves churn in my stomach. What if I embarrass myself? I barely know anything about parties, let alone frat parties. “He was…” I sigh. “Blaze was kind of charming, and he—” “Hold up, ‘charming’?” Landon raises a brow, smirking. I roll my eyes, feeling my face heat up. “Yes, he’s good-looking. Even a blind person could see that. But don’t read too much into it,” I say, sighing. Landon nods, smirking. “And so now you’re going to your roommate’s frat party with him, how… wonderful.” He says it with a loaded tone. “Come on, it’s just a party, Landon,” I say, rolling my eyes. “I want you to go,” he says with a soft smile. “Honestly, I think you should go and have fun. And even though I don’t know Blaze wel

Curiosity Meets Danger

I try to focus on the Netflix series playing on my laptop, but my mind keeps drifting. I just got off the phone with my parents, who had the usual round of questions about Fox. They asked if he was still causing trouble or throwing parties. I told them, mostly truthfully, that he wasn’t all that bad anymore. After that last party when I’d walked in on strangers using my bed as their personal hookup spot, Fox hasn’t thrown another party at the apartment. Since that weird near-kiss and his blowup with Lexi, I haven’t heard a single “nighttime activity” coming from his room. Honestly, I’ve never been so grateful for peace and quiet.I glance at the time on my laptop. Nearly 9 p.m. It’s Saturday, and I’m back at the apartment. Fox wasn’t home when I got here, but I heard him on the phone, followed by the front door opening and closing. Not too long after, I heard his room door shut, then the front door again. He’s probably at his frat house, getting ready for tonight’s party. I still can’

The Wrong Kind Of Jealousy

FOX’S POVThe last thing I expected tonight was for my dorky roommate to take up this much space in my mind, even with Lexi sitting on my lap. Why can’t I stop thinking about him? His long, blonde hair, those dorky glasses, and wide, curious brown eyes. I keep telling myself that it’s only because I have a thing for blondes, and Cameron has that feminine look—pointed nose, high cheekbones, not that tall, maybe five-nine or five-ten, with plump, pink lips. God, I sound so damn gay. Is there a way to describe your male roommate without sounding… obsessed? The day I caught him in my room listening to me pleasure myself in my bathroom is still imprinted in my head. The shock in his eyes, embarrassment, and something else in his big brown eyes that looked like lust. Not to mention he was all I could think about as I stroked myself in my bathroom that day. I wonder what it would feel like to have his lips on mine. I was this close to knowing what he tasted like if Lexi hadn’t barged in unin

Seven Minutes In Heaven

FOX’S POVI watch as Bernard offers Cameron a beer, which he politely declines, looking as tense as ever. The guys are talking about random stuff, but I’m not paying attention. My focus keeps slipping back to Cameron, his posture a little stiff, and his eyes darting around uncomfortably. Lexi shifts on my lap, leaning in to kiss me, but I’m only half-focused. She bites my bottom lip when I don’t kiss her back, bringing me back to the moment. “You okay?” she whispers. I don’t have time to answer before Leon asks Blaze a question. “Blaze, how do you know Cameron?” I shift my gaze back to Cameron, catching him nibbling his bottom lip as he listens, a faint smile playing on his face. “Oh, Cam’s Fox’s roommate,” Blaze answers, oblivious or just unconcerned with the glare I throw his way. “Roommate?” Cynthia, Mike’s girlfriend, chimes in, and I barely hold back a groan. “How come your roommate’s such a dork?” Lexi asks loudly. Joan snorts, and a few of the guys chuckle. “Got a g

First Kiss

FOX’S POV“Get up,” I mutter, not meeting his gaze as I head toward the stairs. I hear him scrambling to keep up.Pushing past a few drunk partiers, we reach the hallway. This is a terrible idea. My heart’s pounding for reasons I don’t want to analyze.I unlock my bedroom door, leaving it open for him. After a pause, Cameron steps inside, glancing around like he’s trying to find an escape route. I’m not the most hardworking person, but I always keep my room clean and tidy.“Close the door, will you?” I mutter. He’s still lingering by the entrance, his arms crossed, clearly uncomfortable.“Trust me, I don’t want to be in here with you either,” I add, trying to break the tension. He rolls his eyes, finally shutting the door. Leaning against it, he crosses his arms, looking both irritated and nervous. The silence is heavy, like there’s something unspoken lingering between us, but I don’t know how to fill it.I sit down on my bed, and silence settles between us like a heavy fog. God, this

First Kiss, First Heartbreak

“You can’t say shit to anyone. This never happened.” His words cut deep, and I watch as he walks out of the room, leaving me stunned and alone. Why did I let him kiss me? How could I be so weak, letting him break down every defense I’d built and then use me for his own twisted, impulsive need? And, of course, now he’s pretending it meant nothing. No surprise there—Fox Wilder can never admit to anything that might crack his perfect, straight-guy facade. But why did he do it? Why kiss me if he’s just going to act like it was a mistake? I touch my lips, the sensation of his kiss still lingering, hot and electric. It was desperate, almost like he was searching for something. And I’d lost my first kiss to Fox Wilder—of all people, him. The guy who’s made my life a tangled mess. The guy who just shattered me with a few simple words. “You can’t say shit to anyone. This never happened.” Anger surges through me as I grab my glasses from his bed and shove them on, trying to block out th

You Kissed Me First

“Sorry, princess, but I need to steal him for a minute,” he says, smoothly extracting me from Stacey’s grasp. I don’t argue, just let him guide me away. As we walk, I feel someone’s eyes boring into my back. I glance back and catch Fox glaring at the guy’s hand on my shoulder. Well, let him. We make it through the crowd to a door, and he opens it, revealing the backyard where Fox had earlier dragged me to scold me about “crashing” his party. The guy closes the door behind us, and then finally looks at me. He’s even better-looking in the dim light out here: dark brown hair, striking green eyes, tall—probably a foot taller than me—and attractive. “Uh…” I stammer, unsure of what to say. He chuckles softly, and even his laugh is something to appreciate. “Thought you might need a rescue back there with the clingy blonde.” “Oh, Stacey.” “Girlfriend?” “Nah. She’s my roommate’s ex. I think she was just trying to use me to make him jealous.” I shrug. He nods, seeming to underst

Conflicted Feelings

I slowly open my eyes, wincing as a pounding headache greets me. I look around me, sighing in contentment at the familiarity. I sit up, pressing my palms to my temples. Why does my head feel like this? Flashes of last night come back—Fox and I being dared to spend seven minutes in heaven, the kiss, and his cold dismissal right after. And then… more drinks. And then I met someone. Daniel? Ryan? Eli—Elias? Yes, Elias. I remember almost kissing him before Fox interrupted us. And later, the second kiss with Fox, right before I threw up. My face heats up as I remember the way his lips felt on mine, the intensity, and then… the humiliation. Grabbing my phone, I gape at the screen: 30 missed calls from my parents, Nat, Landon, and Leanne. It’s already past 1 p.m., and I have a shift at the diner in less than an hour. But I don’t feel ready for anything except lying back down. I’m angry at myself for letting Fox have my first kiss, after all the resolve I’d built up not to let him in. A

Stuck On Him

I head into Gio’s Burger and make my way to the backroom to change into my work clothes. Nat isn’t working today. Since she pulled off a double shift to cover my absence yesterday, I’ll be covering for her today. My phone vibrates in my pocket and I pull it out. It’s a text message from Landon. There’s a part of me that knows I need to call Leanne and Landon back, but doing that means telling them about the kiss with Fox, my arrogant, frustrating roommate. Just the thought makes my stomach twist—this was my first kiss, and it’s with a guy who makes a point to drive me nuts. If Leanne finds out, she’ll definitely squeal and insist that “the universe is pulling us together” or something equally dramatic, and she might even encourage me to try and make Fox fall for me. Predictable. When I reach the counter, I’m surprised to see a new guy working with Katie. Katie, as always, is at the cashier, cheerfully helping the one customer around. The new guy is on his phone, earphones in, loo
