Semua Bab Accidentally in bed with the wrong brother: Bab 31 - Bab 40

Skye His words follow me long after I leave. I don’t know how I make it back to the dorm. I barely remember the walk. One minute I’m standing in front of Jace, staring at the anger in his eyes, and the next, I’m pushing open the door to my room with trembling hands. I slam it shut behind me. Then I just stand there. My chest rises and falls too quickly. I press my back against the door and close my eyes. What the hell did I do? The memory comes rushing back. Jace’s face. His voice. The way his eyes looked at me when I told him I didn’t care about his feelings. I swallow hard. I shouldn’t feel guilty. He was angry with me first. He said horrible things too. But I know I crossed a line. I slide down the door until I’m sitting on the floor. And then I cry. Not the quiet kind. The kind that makes my chest ache and my throat hurt. I bury my face in my hands. Everything went wrong tonight. I wanted Ethan to notice me. Instead, I humiliated myself in front of everyone. Then I hurt

Skye I watch Jace walk out of the classroom. I don’t know why I keep looking at the door after he’s gone. Maybe because yesterday feels too fresh. Maybe because his voice is still stuck in my head. “Get out of my sight.” I look down at my notebook. My handwriting is a mess. I barely wrote anything during class. How am I supposed to concentrate after everything that happened? I close my notebook and let out a slow breath. “Skye?” I look up. Chloe is standing beside my desk. “You coming?” “Yeah.” I pack my things and stand. Kimberly is waiting outside the classroom. The moment I step into the hallway, she looks at me. “So…” I already know where this is going. “No.” She blinks. “I didn’t even say anything.” “You were about to.” Chloe laughs quietly. Kimberly rolls her eyes. “Fine. I’m just asking how you’re doing.” “I’m fine.” Both of them stare at me. I sigh. “Okay. I’m not fine.” “That’s better,” Kimberly says. We start walking down the hallway. I keep my eyes ahead.

JaceI wake up earlier than I planned. For a few seconds, I lie there staring at the ceiling, listening to the silence of the house. It feels strange being here again. At college, there is always noise. Doors opening and closing, people shouting across hallways, music coming from someone’s room, football players arguing about practice, professors complaining about late assignments. Here, everything is controlled. Quiet. Almost too quiet.I get out of bed, pull on a pair of training shorts and a T-shirt, and leave my room without bothering with breakfast. The private football field sits behind the main house, past the tennis courts and the gardens. I’ve spent more hours there than I can count. When I was younger, my father used to bring me out here before school. He’d throw the ball to me until my arms were sore, then tell me to keep going because being tired was never an excuse to stop.I used to hate those mornings. Now, somehow, I miss them.I step onto the grass and breathe in the

Skye By the time the last class ends, all I want to do is leave. It’s been a long day, and somehow, every hour has felt longer than the one before it. I spend most of the afternoon trying to convince myself that I don’t care about the empty seat beside me, that I don’t care about the way people still whisper whenever my name comes up, and that I definitely don’t care about what Tiffany said. I don’t believe myself. I shove my notebook into my bag and stand as soon as the professor dismisses us. “Finally,” Kimberly mutters beside me, stretching her arms. “I thought that class was never going to end.” I manage a small smile. “Same.” Chloe swings her bag over her shoulder. “Are you coming back to the dorm with us?” “Yeah.” I follow them toward the door, keeping my head down. I don’t look at Jace’s empty seat. At least, I try not to. My eyes betray me anyway. The chair is still empty. Two days. That’s all. Two days shouldn’t matter. It’s not like Jace and I are actuall

Skye I wake up the next morning determined not to think about Jace. That is the first thought in my head before I even open my eyes. I groan and pull the blanket over my head. This is ridiculous. He’s been gone for two days. Two. It’s not like he’s disappeared from the face of the earth. He’s at home. He has a family. He has a life outside this campus. He probably hasn’t thought about me once. And that’s exactly what I need to do. Stop thinking about him. I throw the blanket aside and sit up. Today, I’m going to have a normal day. I’m going to go to class, do my work, spend time with my friends, and come back to the dorm without wondering whether Jace is going to walk through a door. I’m going to prove that I can live without him. Not that I owe him anything. Not that he expects me to. I just need to prove it to myself. By the time I finish getting dressed, I almost feel convinced. I leave the dorm with Chloe and Kimberly, listening to them argue about whether we should order
