Chapter 51 - The ThreatAria's POVI tried hiding behind one of the shelves but I could hear the footsteps coming more closer. The sound was deliberate, measured, each step echoing off the wooden floorboards like a countdown to something terrible. I pressed myself against the spines of ancient books, my breath shallow and fast, my heart hammering so loud I was certain whoever was coming could hear it.Suddenly, the footsteps stopped. Silence stretching, thick and suffocating. Then a light flashed on my face, blinding, cutting through the dimness like a blade. I tried blinking, my hand flying up to cover my eyes, my vision swimming with purple vision.“ Who is that?” I called out, trying to block my eyes from the vision blinding light. But instead of a response, something hit me hard on the head. I fell to the ground, my shoulder slamming against the floor, pain radiating down my arm. I gripped the journal tight against my chest, my other hand shielding my eyes from the harsh light.
