Freya’s POVBarren. That was the exact word the doctor used. My heart cracked in half. “Are you sure?” I asked, wringing my hands. My paper nightgown crinkled. “Yes, Luna Freya. I am very sorry.” His eyes were sympathetic. “But you are unable to have children.”His words hit my stomach like a fist. Barren? But how? No no no. This wasn’t happening. It couldn’t be. I sat completely still, frozen in shock, as the floor fell out from under me. I only went to the doctor because my mate, Alpha Ethan suggested it. Well, technically, it was Mira’s idea. She’d been worried about the rumors spreading through the pack. I’d heard them. They were vicious and derisive.‘Freya is an unfit Luna. She can’t produce an heir. There’s something medically wrong with her!’ It stung, hearing the pack talk about me like that. But I swallowed it down and tried to ignore it. There was nothing wrong with me. These things take time. I can get pregnant. That’s what I told myself. I was wrong. “I really

Freya’s POV“Yes. That’s my decision, and I expect you to accept it,” Ethan said, as if it were nothing. “Fine.” My voice came out empty.Mira only smiled at me, a hint of smugness in her eyes.If Ethan wanted Mira to move in while she was pregnant, then I could tolerate it. Besides, there was no point in arguing. Ethan had already made the decision.Mira was going to live with us.The next few days were a blur. Mira wasted no time; she completely took over the packhouse. I couldn’t do anything about it. I stood by while she redecorated everything. She complained constantly about the maids. She claimed they were useless and that they needed ‘a firmer hand’.Her audacity was staggering. She left nothing untouched, not a single curtain, not a single meal, not a single maid’s chore.I tried to reason with Ethan. But he brushed me off. He indulged her every whim.“Stop complaining, Freya,” he told me.“But Ethan, she’s changed everything. She told me that my maid…”“Enough.” He held up h

Freya’s POVThe dungeon was dank and cold. It smelled like mold. Shivering, I wrapped my arms around myself and replayed everything in my head.It didn’t make sense. One moment she was eating pancakes. And the next she was covered in wolfbane rash.Unless…The realization hit me hard.Mira framed me. She set me up. I rushed to the bars and hollered for the guards. I had to see Ethan. I had to tell him what she’d done.“Shut up,” one of them snapped at me. “Alpha Ethan doesn’t want to see you. He’s with Mira at the hospital.”“Pup killer,” the other one spat. They looked at me with so much hatred. I stumbled backwards. So the rumors had already spread. Rumors spread like wildfire through the Moonvalley pack. By now, everyone had probably heard. I could them, whispering, throwing out insults like daggers:‘Have you heard? Luna Freya poisoned Mira with wolfsbane. She tried to kill the heir to the pack.’‘She’s a disgrace. I’m ashamed to call her Luna.’‘Alpha will have her exiled for thi

Freya’s POVI crossed over the Moonvalley Pack border with one thought and one thought only: I was going home.Conner saw me leaving. I told him Ethan had ordered me to leave. He looked sorry for me, and I believed he wouldn’t tell Ethan right away. Besides, even if he did, Ethan wouldn’t care. He was too busy taking care of Mira. The rejection still hurt, but it had settled into a low burning fire in my bones.‘He doesn’t deserve you, Freya,’ my wolf soothed. ‘You made the right decision. You’re better off without him. Your father will be so happy you’re going home.’‘You’re right.’ I said, forcing a smile. The forest was thick. I stumbled over a fallen log a few times. My wolf was right. My father was overjoyed that I was returning home to the Silvermoon Pack. He’d told me to wait for him at the foot of the valley. He was sending someone to escort me home.It felt like the forest went on forever. But eventually I broke through the treeline. And I found myself at the foot of the vall

Freya’s POVA knock on the door pulled me from my sleep. Stretching my arms over my head, I yawned. Glancing out the window, I saw that it was very early. The sun had barely risen.Assuming it was a maid, I sat up.“Come in,” I called. The door swung open.“Freya!” The voice came out as an excited squeal. “Elise!” I squealed back. “It’s true! You’re back!”She rushed across the bedroom and flung her arms around my neck.Elise was my best friend. We’d been friends since we were wolf pups. Her father was my father’s Beta, Bram Vale. We’d basically grown up as sisters. She plopped down on the side of my bed and took my hands in hers. Her auburn hair was pulled back into a low ponytail. Freckles dotted her nose. Her green eyes sparkled as they scanned my face. She looked exactly the same. I was overjoyed to see her.“Why didn’t you tell me you were back?” she asked. “I had to hear it from Kael?” She feigned a mock pout.Chuckling, I squeezed her hands. “I was injured and resting,” I
