Vivian's POVSoon, a platter of ribs was served.Half of the platter was garlic-butter ribs, while the other side was smothered in mushroom cream sauce. They were both Sasha Mercer's favorites.Callum Fletcher picked up a piece of meat covered in mushroom cream sauce and put it on my plate.I pushed the meat aside. "Callum, I'm allergic to mushrooms."He was stunned for a moment. Then, he took the piece of meat from my plate, scraped off the sauce, and then placed it back.I fell silent.Frowning, he whispered to me, "Give it a rest, will you? You can't expect everyone to just accommodate you, right? Stop being so selfish and be considerate for once."With that, he turned away and leaned in close to Sasha as they discussed which spot served better ribs and steaks.I set down my knife and fork. The piece of meat on my plate was turning cold, and its fat was congealing into a layer of white film.Callum's mother, Brenda Hayes, smiled awkwardly as she put a mozzarella stick on

Vivian's POVWhen I woke up the next day, Callum was already gone.I hailed a ride to the entrance of the company building. When I got out of the car, I noticed Callum's car parked nearby.Sasha was eating breakfast in the passenger seat, and Callum was wiping away the sauce on the corner of her mouth with his bare hand.Ever since Sasha joined the company last year, Callum had been picking her up every morning. His reason was, "My mom wants me to take good care of Sasha."And for that reason, he had been picking her up and sending her home for a whole year, dropping everything to go to her every time she called.Once, we were at the movies when she called. Callum abandoned me and went to her straight away. I remained in the cinema and watched the long-outdated romance movie all alone.I had tried to tell him how uncomfortable I felt and how I wasn't fine with the lack of boundaries between him and Sasha. But he just smiled and said, "Vivian, you're overthinking it. If there r

Vivian's POVCallum forced a smile on his face. "But the approval's already come through, and it's been officially stamped. We can't change it anymore."I didn't say a word."Callum! Peel this orange for me." Outside, Sasha was calling for him.Gazing into my eyes, Callum closed his eyes and leaned in to kiss me.But I dodged him.Sasha called again, "Callum Fletcher!"He opened his eyes, a hint of impatience flashing across his gaze as he responded to Sasha, "Fine, I'm coming."He touched my face, then walked to the door. Then, he paused and turned to look at me for a moment. "Vivian, don't overthink it. You'll love Sunshire. I'm sure of it."Sasha was the one who liked Sunshire.I thought, "Callum, I'm not going to Sunshire anymore."…The next day, when I clocked in, I noticed something was off about the atmosphere in the office. Everyone had a dark expression on their face. The software would be launching in less than three hours, but it suddenly crashed. The developer

Third-Person POVCallum noticed that Vivian had blocked him.He stared blankly at his phone. He never thought things would get so serious this time that Vivian would be furious enough to slap him.Even now, his cheeks were burning from the slap.In the past, he had always used to pin Sasha's mistakes on Vivian.Vivian would get mad at him as well, but she was easy to convince. She just couldn't bring herself to be mad at him for long.He looked around him, his tense nerves suddenly relaxing. Then, he curled his lips into a self-deprecating smile.Sure enough, Vivian didn't just pack up and leave."After all, how could she actually leave me?" Callum thought. "Things just got a bit out of hand, and she must be sulking right now. But still, I've really crossed the line this time."He decided that he would pamper Vivian once she had calmed down. Then, he would promise her that he would never let her take the blame for Sasha again. He took a deep breath, trying to suppress the in

Third-Person POVCallum turned around.Matthew was in his 60s, his back slightly hunched and his hair turned silver. He was slowly pulling out a stack of cash from his pocket. The crisp bills were held together by a white rubber band.Matthew handed the money to Callum, his rough fingers slightly curled around it. His knuckles were thick with age. "When I fractured my bone last year, you lent Vivian 300 dollars. I'm paying you back."His voice was quivering a little. "Can you please stop pestering her?"Callum suddenly remembered that on the day Matthew fractured his bone, Vivian couldn't afford the medical bills, so she had gingerly asked Callum if she could take some money from their savings account.Callum was upset when he heard that, so he had deliberately said some hurtful things to her.He had simply watched as she broke down into tears. It annoyed him, so he transferred 300 dollars to her. Now, as he stared at the money right in front of him, he felt like he had just b
