My stomach felt swollen and started throbbing painfully by the next afternoon."Benji," I called, holding my stomach and sweating profusely. "I think something's not right. I'm going to drop by the hospital."My husband, Benji Morrison, paused for a brief moment before hurrying over to my side. He pulled me into his arms with a heartbroken expression and said, "It's really windy outside, Harper. Your body's too weak. I'll call Dr. Kane right now and ask him to come over."I gripped the edge of the blanket tightly. The overwhelming pain robbed me of my ability to speak.Benji's voice was gentle and polite. He patted my head lightly after he hung up, saying, "Don't be scared, Harper. Dr. Kane will be here soon. Lie down for now. I'll warm up some soup for you."A single tear leaked from the corner of my eye as I watched him leave.…The doctor, Patrick Kane, arrived half an hour later. Benji specifically gave him a reminder even before he stepped across the threshold, saying,

The anesthetic wore off after I slept for a little while, causing me to jolt awake from the excruciating pain.A nurse carried a tray into the room to change my bandages. There was a vase of lilies on the bedside table.Benji rubbed his reddened eyes and said, "I brought them for you in the morning. I remembered that you said you liked lilies in the past."I didn't say a single word. I was so exhausted that I just closed my eyes.I developed rhinitis after I suffered a miscarriage two years ago. I'd stopped buying lilies ever since.…Benji kept vigil by my bedside until the afternoon. He spoke in a hushed voice when he received a call. He then turned around and kissed my forehead, saying, "Something urgent just came up at the company. I'll hire a caretaker to watch over you. I'll visit you again at night."The door clicked shut. The sounds of his footsteps faded into the distance.A caretaker came into the room. She sighed and said, "Your husband treats you so well, Mrs. M

Richard's voice boomed like a clap of thunder across the office.I whipped my head around to look at him and noticed that three other snowy-haired directors were standing behind him. All of them were wearing steely expressions.Richard was clutching the rosewood cane that Dad had left behind him. Every step that he took was sure and steady. His leather shoes clacked clearly against the marble floor.Benji's face twisted slightly before he fixed a smile on his face, asking, "What brings you here, Mr. Erikson? The company isn't hosting any important meetings today, right?""Important meetings?" Richard snapped as he stood next to me, sweeping his sharp gaze over Benji's and Alice's locked arms. "In fact, I have questions for you, Mr. Morrison. What the hell do you think you're doing? Hiding a woman in your office and causing a commotion over wanting to kick the heiress of the Weller family out of the building?"Alice hastily let go of Benji's arm and took a step back. "T-There's

A shockwave rippled through Weller Group in the next three days.I sat in the office that once belonged to Dad as the CEO of the company. The pen and paperweight that he used in the past were still placed on the desk.Richard helped me comb through the company's finances in the last seven years. Although it didn't look like Benji had touched the funds on the surface, in reality, he had secretly transferred close to 50 million dollars out of the company.Alice had two properties and a Porsche under her name. She also always had at least seven digits in her bank account at all times. After organizing everything, Isaac placed a thick stack of evidence on my desk. "These are enough to file a lawsuit against him for embezzlement and fraud, Ms. Weller. "We've also received a statement from Dr. Kane. He admitted to adding an ingredient that suppresses the production of progesterone into the vitamins. The effects aren't immediately fatal, but it'll slowly damage the uterine environme

I didn't return home after I left the law firm. Instead, I told my driver to drive me to the private hospital.Patrick had already been arrested by the police. The hospital's new director made a personal appearance to greet me.I handed Patrick's statement and Benji's transaction records to the director. His expression turned grim as he flipped through the documents."We're deeply shocked and offer our sincerest apologies for what happened, Ms. Weller," he said. "We've already put in a request to revoke Dr. Kane's medical license. We'll also punish everyone who was involved accordingly."As for all the medical expenses that you've incurred at our hospital over the years, we're willing to refund every single payment that you've made. We'll also compensate you accordingly."I shook my head, saying, "I don't need any compensation.""Then, what you want is…""A public apology. I want the hospital to release a statement on the official channels and admit that medical malpractice wa
