Chapter 1

For as long as I can remember, my Alpha dad and Omega mom fought every time they met. This time, Dad unleashed his violent Alpha aura and sent Mom flying.I tried to push myself up. The taste of blood filled my mouth.Every inch I moved, my broken bones sliced my flesh like knives."Daddy..." I reached out a shaking hand. I wanted to touch his boot. "Please... don't be mad at Mommy..."Before I could touch his boot, his Alpha aura hit me like a solid wall. I slammed into the stone. Fresh agony ripped through my broken legs.Dad looked down at me with pure disgust."Not this again. You fake sick just like your mother. The pack doctor never finds anything wrong."He turned to leave. Mom rushed up and grabbed him tight."Where are you going? Thorne, she is your blood! Do you not care if she dies?"Dad shook her off. He growled in blind rage:"What do you mean? You taught this pup nothing but cheap tricks. She's just like you. Disgusting!""Like me?" Mom crawled up. She let out a piercing

Chapter 2

I looked down at my broken body. The dark red blood spread underneath. But I wasn't scared at all.Death was a relief. At least it didn't hurt anymore.I wouldn't be Mom's punching bag. I wouldn't starve. I wouldn't have my bones crushed by Dad's Alpha aura. This is fine, I thought.Suddenly, an invisible force pulled me out of the apartment. In a blink, I was in a grand, glowing room.It was filled with ancient relics and silver weapons.Dad was walking through it. His Beta guard walked behind him with his head bowed."Alpha, these are the gift options for the heir." The Beta handed him a list.Dad pushed it away without looking."Normal stuff is not good enough for my son."His eyes locked on the highest shelf. It was a rare moonstone dagger. The scabbard was set with jewels. The blade caught a chilling cold light. It was a sacred relic only past Alphas could touch.Dad took it down without hesitation. His rough fingers gently stroked the handle. His eyes were full of pride."This on

The happy family of three sat around the long dining table.Rowan excitedly held the moonstone dagger. He waved it under the light. The silver light danced on his face. His eyes shined like stars."Daddy, you got me another new weapon. So cool!"Thorne gently rubbed his son's head. "As long as you like it, all the pack's resources are yours."Hearing this, Rowan's eyes turned sneaky."I remember you have an old leather pouch in your study. Can I have that, Father?"I stared at him in shock. It was the only gift I ever gave Dad in seven years.Last year, the pack fought a bloody war for land. Dad went to the frontlines as Alpha.I was terrified. I was afraid he'd get hurt. I was afraid he'd never come back.Even if he hated me. Even if he beat me. He was still my Alpha dad.I dragged my starving body to the deadly jagged cliffs.Legends spoke of the rare Moonflower. It grew on the highest peaks. It held the Moon Goddess's ultimate protection.I climbed for a day and a night. The fierce

I stood by the fireplace. I watched my prayers turn to ash.Just then, I caught a flash of smugness in Rowan's eyes. The corner of his mouth curved up. That winner's smirk made my chest tight.I floated closer. He pulled out his phone and texted his mom.The screen clearly said: "Mom, I beat the little mutt again. Father will always love me best!"My whole body shook uncontrollably. He knew everything.Thorne kicked the burning scraps deeper into the fire. He looked disgusted."Alright, don't play with dirty things." He gently took Rowan's hand. "Come, let Daddy show you the new hunting trophies."The father and son left the hall, laughing and talking.I stood there blankly. I watched the last spark die in the fireplace.Suddenly, I realized a cruel truth.A low-blood, unloved half-breed pup wouldn't even be missed in death.Strangely, once I figured that out, all my resentment just faded away.If that's how it is, why torture myself over their coldness? For the next two days, I watche

Thorne roughly cut the mind link. He took out his phone and dialed."Thorne?" Sylvia's voice came through. She sounded surprised and hopeful. "Did you finally change your mind? Are you taking Nyx and me back to the pack house?"I watched the disgust flash across Dad's face. A bitter taste rose in me.Even now, Mom was still dreaming. Still thinking the severed mate bond could be fixed."Shut up!" Thorne snapped. "I'm asking you, what are you doing in that apartment? Why does it smell like rotting garbage?"Mom realized he wasn't calling to catch up. Her nerves, destroyed by the broken mark, snapped again. Mom’s tone turned nasty."Isn't that little parasite in there?""Impossible! The patrol said they went several times. No signs of life, just a stench. Go back and check!"Mom laughed cruelly."I'm not going. She is your real daughter. If you don't care, why should I?""But let me tell you, she's only seven! If something happens to her, it's over!"She hung up the phone.Thorne's hand

Chapter 6

The second the door opened, a foul stench hit their faces.I saw all the guards cover their noses. Their faces twisted in disgust. But Dad... he stood frozen in the doorway. His eyes widened.Right in the middle of the room lay a tiny, rotting body. The summer heat had swollen my flesh. My skin was a horrifying purple-black. Flies swarmed everywhere.I looked at my own corpse. I felt surprisingly calm.So this is what I look like dead.Really ugly.Thorne stood frozen for a few seconds. Then he roughly kicked my corpse with his combat boot."Stop acting!" His voice shook. "Nyx! Get up!"But that kick exposed the wooden floor beneath me.Carved deeply into the wood with little wolf claws were words in dried blood:[Daddy, it hurts so much. I didn't lie.]The letters were crooked but very clear.I carved them stroke by stroke with my underdeveloped claws, dipped in my own blood, while in agonizing pain.Every word took my last breath.Thorne stared at the bloody words. His entire body we

Chapter 7

The elder's words completely froze Thorne. He slowly turned his head to stare at my corpse. His massive Alpha frame shook violently.Tears instantly flooded his face.Seeing this, I actually felt like my father was heartbroken for me."Nyx, Daddy was wrong!" He knelt on the floor, begging and crying. "Daddy will never yell at you again. Please get up, okay?""Don't lie to Alpha with Mommy this time... Daddy will buy you the best clothes..."Like an irrational madman, he kept trying to wake me up.His rough fingers tried to wipe the dried blood from my face. It only made the soft, rotting flesh look worse."Open your eyes. I will give you anything!" His voice broke. "You want to live in the pack house? We can go right now. You liked Rowan's moonstone dagger? I will give you every weapon in the vault!"No answer.Just the buzzing of flies. And the piercing stench of rot.Everything mercilessly proved the fact of death. The surrounding wolves all got red eyes. The guards had no choice but

The screech of tires broke the dead silence outside the cabin. The door was violently shoved open. Mom stumbled in.She clutched a cheap bottle of liquor. She reeked of alcohol and trashy perfume. She burped. Her eyes carelessly scanned the room. When she saw the corpse on the floor, she clearly froze. Half her drunkenness vanished. But she didn't cry. She didn't even take a step closer. She rushed forward and shoved Thorne hard, right as he knelt in the blood."This is all your fault!" she shrieked. She pointed right at Thorne's face without an ounce of guilt."If you brought her to the pack house earlier! If your Alpha pheromones were soothing her, this pup wouldn't have died! You ignored her!"Thorne's grief was instantly swallowed by savage rage.He shot up and backhanded Mom fiercely. The sharp slap echoed violently in the foul-smelling room. The sheer force sent Mom flying to the ground. The bottle shattered. Blood leaked from her mouth."You evil, crazy bitch!" Thorne's eyes pra

For the next few days, Thorne locked himself tight in the room he made for me.Valeria slammed on the door angrily from outside."Thorne! Are you crazy?" Her voice was shrill. "The mutt is dead! Look at Rowan, he cried his eyes swollen!""You are his father! How can you ignore your living pureblood heir for a corpse?"Thorne didn't respond. He just sat blankly on the edge of my bed. He stroked that photo over and over. After Valeria left with a crying Rowan, he cried silently. He punched his own head wildly and let out beast-like growls."It's all my fault..." he mumbled, shaking. "I shouldn't have hated my own flesh and blood just because Sylvia was a rogue.""I shouldn't have been so cruel to sever the mate mark. I shouldn't have taken my anger out on an innocent pup..."Just then, a soft knock came from the door.Beta Marcus stood outside. His voice was gentle. "Alpha, you haven't eaten in three days. The elders are worried about your health."Thorne ignored him.Marcus sighed and p

Thorne's heart skipped a beat. He answered immediately."Alpha." The doctor's voice was extremely heavy. "The autopsy results are out.""Please come to the medical tent immediately. Bring Ms. Sylvia."Thorne's fingers trembled. He and Mom—who was escorted by guards—arrived at the tent at the same time. Both still clung to a last thread of hope.Hoping the results would prove my death was just an accident. Then, their guilt would be a little less. But the grim look on the doctor's face already predicted everything. The results would not give them what they wanted. The air in the medical tent was so heavy it felt suffocating. Two elite guards pinned Sylvia's shoulders down. She was still struggling stubbornly."Tell me the results." Thorne stared dead at the report in the doctor's hands. His eyes were bloodshot. His voice grated like sandpaper."It wasn't an accident." The doctor's hands shook slightly. His face was ash-gray. "It was a fall from a high place."The tent fell deadly silent
