Semua Bab My Alpha Daughter Rejected Me, Then Begged Me Back: Bab 1 - Bab 10

From then on, Lillian grew bolder and bolder about tattling whenever Caine came home. When I refused to buy her a new gaming console, she claimed I'd called her a useless brat who did nothing but spend money. When I corrected her manners, she said I was jealous because she would become an Alpha someday while I would always be just an Omega.Caine still soothed her every time.Caine's reassurance only made Lillian worse. Then she picked another fight, and I finally lost my temper. Before her end-of-term exam, I told her to go to bed early. She got angry and yelled at me, "Other girls have parents who read them bedtime stories! You won't read to me, and you won't let Daddy read to me either! You don't love me! You're a bad mommy!"I looked at the clock. Two in the morning. I finally snapped. "Fine! I don't love you! Because I picked you up!"She froze for a second, then suddenly smiled."I knew it. I have Alpha blood. How could I possibly have a low-class mother like you?"I was so furio

Aldric, the healer, arrived quickly and confirmed that Lillian had only been overwhelmed by the Alpha's aura. There was no poisoning or other injury. Before long, Lillian opened her eyes, wrenched herself out of my arms, and lunged for Caine."Daddy, it's Mommy's medicine!"Ever since I took the stabilizing medicine she gave me, my head has been all foggy. I don't even know what I just said. She must have poisoned me and messed up my memory!"Aldric frowned. "Your medicine comes from the same batch as three other pups'. The bottles are sealed by the Temple of the Moon Goddess.""Then she must have switched it! She's the one who always gives me my medicine. Of course you'd take her side!"I looked at this child who had just been exposed, yet in the very next breath had pinned an even graver accusation on me. Strangely, the turmoil in my chest began to settle."Lillian, are you willing to swear to it before the Moon Goddess?"If you've lied, the oath will turn on you."She looked at Cain

The next afternoon, the Greys finally arrived, taking their time.Three children of similar ages trailed behind Lucius. Evelyn glanced down at her communication stone as she asked, "So which one is she?"An attendant brought Lillian before them. Her fingers were white with nerves, but she kept her back straight."I'm Lillian. Your daughter."Evelyn looked her over several times. Her gaze settled on Lillian's thin shoulders, and recognition finally dawned."Oh. The one who caught the plague."Lillian's smile faltered. "Didn't you send me away to protect the other children? Just temporarily?"Lucius looked as though he had heard a joke."The Lunar Eclipse Plague spread so fast. You had a fever for seven days straight. The healer said even if you survived, your wolf would probably never recover."We have so many healthy children. Were we supposed to pour all our medicine and money into a sickly pup who might carry defective genes?"The council hall was deathly silent.I remembered the qua

The Greys thought they would at least get Lillian without paying anything and collect a subsidy on top of it.But Clarke turned to the next page and told them that restoring biological custody would reopen their abandonment case from ten years earlier."You will have to post a guardianship bond and pay the back child support you should have covered. If you abandon her again, the Greys' access to public training resources will be suspended for the following year."Lucius slammed the table. "She's the one who wanted to come back! Why should we have to pay?"Evelyn turned and glared at Lillian."You were living the good life with the Luna's family. What got into you?"Lillian backed away as both of them bore down on her."I thought... you would want me.""Want you for what?" Lucius pointed at the mark of her damaged wolf. "Another mouth to feed who can't even win us any resources."Evelyn argued with him in hushed tones for a moment, then asked Clarke reluctantly, "Can we just not take he

After Lillian returned to the Greys, Pack Child Welfare sent monthly custody reports. The Greys didn't beat her, and they didn't dare let her go hungry. They simply placed her among their eighteen children and ranked them all again by the strength of their wolves. The clothes and books she brought back were taken by her younger sisters that same day. When the caseworker demanded their return, Evelyn tossed only the most worn-out items back onto her bed.She had once had her own room. Now she shared an attic with four sisters. The academy processed her withdrawal in three days. Lucius spent the saved tuition on training for his eldest son, the child with the strongest wolf. She woke up earliest every day to prepare her siblings' training gear, yet at meals she sat at the very end of the long table. The other children never called her their sister. They called her "the sickly pup who got sent back."The stabilizing medicine I paid for arrived on time every month, but Evelyn often forgot
