Melanie’s POV “Oh my, he’s so handsome,” a woman said from somewhere across the table, her voice loud enough to carry through the restaurant as Damian strode through the entrance. “Is that really the CEO?” another woman asked, practically drooling as she leaned forward to get a better look at him. “Damn. He looks even more handsome up close,” another one chimed in, and the little wave of whispers that followed made me roll my eyes. Of course. The man could walk into a room and suddenly everyone forgot how to behave. Damian stopped for a moment, looking around the restaurant as if he were searching for someone, and I immediately lowered myself behind Sophy, hoping...praying, that somehow she could become large enough to hide my entire body. Unfortunately, she couldn't, and unfortunately for me, Damian already spotted me. “Hello, Mr. Sinclair!” Jasmine greeted brightly, straightening in her seat as she smiled at him, and almost everyone around the tables turned toward him at once.

Melanie’s POV “How did I get home yesterday?” I asked, stepping out of the bathroom as I wiped my hands on the small towel, my face twisting the moment another wave of nausea hit me. “Oh my God, I feel like throwing up.” I pressed one hand against my stomach and leaned briefly against the bathroom door, wondering why I had ever thought drinking that much was a good idea. My head was pounding, my mouth felt dry, and my entire body felt like it had been dragged behind a moving car. “I don't know too. You just banged on the door and I came out, but you were the only one there,” Cassie explained from the dining area, where she was arranging plates and bowls on the table. She glanced over her shoulder at me, then shook her head with an expression that told me she had already judged every decision I had made the previous night. Melanie’s POV “You don’t remember anything at all?” Sophy asked, staring at me with wide eyes as though she was still trying to process the fact that I could apparently drink enough to lose an entire night of my memory. I shut my eyes tightly as all the memories came rushing back at once, each one hitting me harder than the last. When I had called him handsome. When I had told him he was selfish. When I had stood there in front of everyone and complained about how he ordered me around, how he made me wake up early, stay late, follow him everywhere, and even made me feel like I needed permission to breathe.
