Chapter 1

The doctor pushed the door open and entered the room. "Ms. Ziegler, Alpha Kieran has already completed your discharge paperwork. You're free to leave."I nodded numbly. As I walked out of the care facility, I could still hear several nurses whispering behind me. "Poor thing. She used to be a perfectly normal she-wolf. I can't believe that she had been driven to this state.""What's there to pity? He's the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack. Instead of abandoning her, he even spent a great deal of resources on her treatment. She's too greedy. She's been given more than enough, yet she still doesn't know when to back down."A year ago, their comments would've driven me into a hysterical rage. But now, I simply walked up to Kieran Gray without a flicker of emotion. He curled his finger inward and reached for my face. "You've lost weight."I turned my head away from him and avoided his touch. His hand froze in midair. A brief second later, he withdrew it and opened the passenger door.

Chapter 2

During my year at the psychiatric care facility, Kieran had never visited me.Feeling frightened, I'd cling to the nurses and beg them to contact Kieran through my tears. But no matter how many times they called him, he never picked up.Over time, I grew numb. Eventually, I asked them to stop contacting him.Suddenly feeling thirsty, I got up and headed downstairs for a glass of water.Kieran was on the balcony, talking to someone on the phone. He kept his voice low, but I could still hear every word."That's enough. I'll give you whatever you want. At tomorrow's auction, bid on anything you like. Consider it a gift from me," he said, his voice tender and indulgent. "I've been extremely busy lately. So unfortunately, I can't spend much time with you."He used to speak to me that way, too. But now, that side of him was reserved for someone else. I leaned against the doorframe and eavesdropped for a while. Then, I found myself growing bored.I had just turned to leave when I hea

Chapter 3

"As long as Hannah's happy," Kieran said with a light chuckle."Aren't you afraid that Caroline will find out and go crazy again?" Zachary spoke up."It doesn't really matter. She'll settle down after she throws a fit for a while," Kieran said matter-of-factly. He sounded as though everything he did was perfectly justified.Anthony Walker, the Gamma, let out a quiet laugh. "She's a lot quieter now. Did you straighten her out after you brought her home?""That's enough." Kieran's voice turned cold and sharp. The study fell silent. Meanwhile, I sat in the living room, feeling completely unfazed.Zachary was the first to emerge from the study. He looked me over before saying, "You're pretty good at keeping your composure now, Ms. Ziegler. Feel free to come to me if you ever lose control of your emotions again."When I didn't respond, he sat down beside me and continued suggestively, "Honestly speaking, I still think about the night we spent together a year ago."Liam and Anthony

Chapter 4

I walked past them without a word and returned to Kieran's side.Kieran looked down at me with a satisfied smile. He even reeked of Hannah's perfume.I checked my phone. Just half an hour until it was 9:00 pm."The marking ceremony is next month," Kieran said softly. "I've picked out a few designs for your dress. When we get home, you can choose whichever you like best."I looked at him. "I told you—I don't want to be your mate."Frowning, he warned, "Enough. Stop throwing a fit. I already told you that you'll be my Luna. What more do you want from me? Do you want me to get down on my knees and beg?""I don't want anything from you. I just don't want to be your mate anymore.""That's enough!" His voice turned cold. "Do I need to send you back to the psychiatric care facility before you'll finally behave? Stop throwing a fit."I stepped back and stared at the werewolf standing before me. At that moment, Kieran felt like a stranger to me."You still think I'm throwing a fit?" I

Chapter 5

When I declined Kieran's calls, I received multiple text messages from him almost immediately.[Where are you, Caroline?][Hurry up and pick up the phone. Please don't make me worry. Just tell me where you are, and I'll come get you!]I stared at the timestamps of his calls. Apparently, it had taken him four hours to send Hannah home. I didn't reply to his messages. In the past, I had left the pack on several occasions to get his attention. However, I had turned around and gone back on my own every time.I asked the medical research institution for a five-day leave. I wanted to visit my parents' graves. The car rocked gently along the road, leaving me pale and queasy. Kieran had always known about my tendency to get carsick. He used to carry raspberry candy with him and let me rest against his shoulder until I felt better. Later on, whenever I travelled, he'd drive me himself and keep the car moving at a speed that I could tolerate. Now, I no longer needed him to look after

Chapter 6

I didn't say a word and simply hung up. The moment I ended the call, my phone began vibrating nonstop. So, I turned it off. At long last, the world around me was quiet.…Before bed, I turned my phone back on. Dozens of messages popped up on my screen, and three of them were from Kieran.[Please don't ignore me.][I'm sorry. I read your journal. I didn't know you were in so much pain. There's been a misunderstanding between us. Can we work through it together?][I went too far. I know I've made a mistake now. Please pick up my calls.]The rest of the text messages were from Hannah and all three of his right-hand men.[Where on earth did you go? Alpha Kieran is turning the entire place upside down looking for you. If you don't come back, we're going to suffer too.][I take back everything I said. Alpha Kieran is on the verge of losing his temper. What is it going to take to convince you to come back?][Are you abandoning your sister? After you left, she went to look for Alp

Chapter 7

The last time Kieran had been this stubborn was when he'd gone behind my back to look for medicinal herbs. "You're the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack. There are plenty of she-wolves who would be more than willing to be your mate. If all else fails, you can always make up with Hannah." I calmly lifted my head, my voice distant. With that, I turned around and walked back into the cabin. The door to the cabin was unlocked. If Kieran wanted to come in, all he had to do was push it open. But he didn't move a muscle. He simply stood there, staring at me with a pitiful expression, as though he'd been abandoned.I didn't pay him any attention. Instead, I began packing my parents' belongings into my suitcase. If I had all these things with me, I wouldn't feel alone when I went to the research institute. All of a sudden, a deafening crack of thunder rang out, and rain started to pour down without any prior warning. I glanced out of the window and was surprised to find Kieran standing motio

Chapter 8

"What are you doing here?" I spat. I stood in the doorway with no intention of inviting him inside.Liam's gaze drifted past me to the window behind me."Zachary, Anthony, and I are all about to be kicked out of the pack by Alpha Kieran! I came here to ask you to put in a good word for us."I stepped back, putting more distance between us. "What makes you think that I'd help you?"Liam frantically took a step forward. "This is a private matter between you and Alpha Kieran. We're only getting kicked out because of you!""The one punishing you is Alpha Kieran, not me," I declared calmly. "You should be going to him instead."Liam continued, "Hannah was thrilled when she found out that you disappeared, but Alpha Kieran had her locked up and even arranged for her to marry into another pack. He's gone crazy and is doing everything he can to get you back. "Since he's gone this far for you, your anger should've subsided by now. All we're asking is that you put in a good word for us. W

Chapter 9

Back when Kieran and I lived here with Hannah and my parents, he took care of all the household chores. I hadn't tasted his cooking since he became the Alpha of the Silvermoon pack.Steam rose from the pot. The air around us was silent save for the sound of the rain.Kieran flashed me a tender smile. "I made a promise to your parents."I lowered my gaze. "What kind of promise?""I promise them I'd never make you sad again," he replied, his voice earnest and unwavering. "I told them that if they agreed, they'd appear in your dreams and convince you to give me another chance to protect you."While I ladled some soup into a bowl, my hand froze in midair. Under his intense gaze, I said calmly, "There's no point in talking about any of this now."I set the bowl of soup down in front of him. He didn't move a muscle, but he looked as though he was about to cry."Do you remember, Caroline? You used to do the same thing. Whenever I finished cooking, you'd come over and help me serve it

Chapter 10

The moment Hannah saw me, she lunged forward in an attempt to reach for my hair.Red marks from the chains were still visible on her wrists, and the slap mark on her cheek hadn't faded either. All the arrogance she had once carried was nowhere to be seen.Upon hearing the commotion, Kieran strode over and stood in front of me. Hannah immediately burst into tears. "How could you be so heartless?" she cried. "You had those men humiliate me and even took away my freedom!"Kieran's expression turned cold. Without the slightest hesitation, he shoved her to the ground, just like he had done to me in the past."I told you. Until I bring Caroline back, you're not allowed to leave the pack."Hannah scrambled to her feet and pulled out a piece of paper. "But I'm with pup! You can't make me another wolf's mate while I'm carrying your pup!"Dragging my suitcase behind me, I was about to walk past both of them when Kieran took out his phone. Moments later, an audio recording began to play
