Chapter 3

"As long as Hannah's happy," Kieran said with a light chuckle.

"Aren't you afraid that Caroline will find out and go crazy again?" Zachary spoke up.

"It doesn't really matter. She'll settle down after she throws a fit for a while," Kieran said matter-of-factly. He sounded as though everything he did was perfectly justified.

Anthony Walker, the Gamma, let out a quiet laugh. "She's a lot quieter now. Did you straighten her out after you brought her home?"

"That's enough." Kieran's voice turned cold and sharp.

The study fell silent. Meanwhile, I sat in the living room, feeling completely unfazed.

Zachary was the first to emerge from the study. He looked me over before saying, "You're pretty good at keeping your composure now, Ms. Ziegler. Feel free to come to me if you ever lose control of your emotions again."

When I didn't respond, he sat down beside me and continued suggestively, "Honestly speaking, I still think about the night we spent together a year ago."

Liam and Anthony slowly walked out of the study.

Liam's gaze fell on my chest. "You look like you've lost a lot of weight. I wonder if you still feel just as good."

Anthony let out a mocking laugh. "No wonder the Alpha took an interest in Hannah. That cold, aloof demeanor of yours is such a mood-killer."

Kieran was the last to enter the living room. Turning his attention toward me, he declared, "There's a banquet tonight. You'll attend it as my future Luna."

"What time does it end?" I looked up at him.

He frowned. He seemed puzzled by the question, but he answered me anyway. "9:00 pm."

My flight was at 10:00 pm.

I gave him a small nod, agreeing to his arrangement.

Anthony and Zachary exchanged glances. The corners of their lips curved up into knowing smiles.

At the banquet, Kieran held my hand as he introduced me to everyone as his future Luna.

Everyone had heard the rumors about me.

I was a lowly Omega who had slept with the Beta, Gamma, and Delta of the Silvermoon pack. In the end, the Alpha had sent me into a psychiatric care facility himself.

Despite what I had done, the banquet guests were looking at me with sympathetic expressions.

I kept a smile on my face and didn't let my expression waver.

"Alpha Kieran, Caroline."

A sweet voice rang out. When I turned around, I caught sight of Hannah approaching us with a smile.

She walked straight to Kieran and slipped her arm through his.

"Thank you," she said, deliberately lifting her chin to show off her dazzling new necklace—the Tear of the Moon Goddess.

Kieran's expression remained indifferent as he gave her a slight nod. "I'm glad you like it."

I felt slightly nauseous. Pulling my arm away from him, I muttered, "I'm going to the bathroom."

Kieran leaned in toward my ear and lowered his voice. "Do not embarrass me tonight."

I gave him a quiet hum and immediately rushed to the bathroom. Then, I threw up until my stomach cramped violently.

Back at the care facility, the nurses would pry my mouth open and make me swallow sleeping pills to stop me from thinking about Kieran. Thankfully, I no longer thought about him, and I would never pass out from taking too many sleeping pills again.

When I walked past the open-air hall on my way back, I spotted Zachary and Anthony. The pair were leaning against the terrace railing, each holding a cigar.

When Zachary saw me, he let out a mocking laugh. "You're practically furious, yet you're still trying to maintain your composure. How pathetic."

Anthony blew out a ring of smoke. "Hannah is truly Caroline's sister. She knows exactly what to do to get under her skin. She'll be delighted once Caroline becomes hysterical again."
