I run down the hallway, and as soon as I see a corner I haven’t turned down before, I dart into that side passage. It hits me too late that it leads nowhere, it’s a dead end, but I hear the fight getting closer; the wolves are advancing as they battle.When I reach the wall at the end, I realize there’s a small entrance to a staircase. I can go up or down, but going up would only trap me.
