Semua Bab You Don't Get to Love Me Now, Alpha Stepbrother: Bab 1 - Bab 10

AVA'S POV "Who is it?" I called out, my voice tight and trembling with fear. I slowly backed away from the bed, my hand blindly searching the small plastic table until my fingers wrapped around the heavy base of a brass desk lamp. There was no answer from the hallway. Just absolute, terrifying silence.I stepped closer to the door, holding the brass lamp high over my shoulder with both hands. "Who is it? I have a weapon. Leave right now or I'm calling the police."The brass door handle slowly turned downward. Before I could rush forward to jam my shoulder against the wood, the lock clicked open, and the door was pushed inward.Standing in the frame, his broad shoulders easily blocking out the flickering yellow light of the hallway, was Damien. He had discarded his suit jacket somewhere along the way. His white dress shirt was soaked through from the rain, clinging tightly to his broad chest, the top two buttons undone to reveal his neck. His short black hair was messy, plastered aga

AVA’S POV I felt so weak and emotional inside, but I fought with everything I had not to break down in front of him. I pulled myself together, looked straight into Damien's eyes, and made sure every bit of my anger came out in my voice; "I don't care about you anymore, Damien!" I yelled, my voice full of bitterness. "I don't care what happens to you! If you want to die right now, then die! I don't give a damn! Go far away and never come back into my life again! You mean absolutely nothing to me!" Damien flinched slightly, but I did not stop. I stepped closer to him, letting him hear every single word clearly. "Do you really think I came here for you?" I shouted, laughing bitterly. "The only reason I stepped foot into this cursed house was because of my son! That is the only reason! And first thing tomorrow morning, when the sun comes up, Lucas and I are leaving this place for good!" Damien opened his mouth, his eyes wide as he tried to speak. "Ava, please, just listen to me

DAMIEN’S POVI stood there looking down at Selene. I could feel the coldness in her tone. It was hidden right behind her empty stare. She was trying to look calm and gentle, but her eyes were cold, blank."I am just helping someone I once knew," I told her plainly, keeping my voice flat and even. "She is in need. That is all there is to it. It is nothing else."Selene did not blink. She kept her fingers resting lightly against my chest, her face completely smooth."If that is all it is," she said, her voice still soft, slow, and dangerous, "then introduce her to me. Take me to her room right now, Damien. Let me meet this woman you are helping so kindly.”"No," I declined immediately. I did not want her anywhere near Ava or Lucas. I took a small step back, pulling my body away from her touch. "I cannot do that right now. I have an important meeting to attend with my father, and I am already running late."Selene did not push me. She did not raise her voice nor throw a tantrum. She just

Ava’s POV I could not stay in this house for one more day. I spent years of my life hiding from Damien, and now I was trapped under his roof. Every single minute here felt like a bad dream. I was terrified that Damien would take Lucas away from me. I knew that if we stayed here any longer, he would find out the truth. He would figure out that Lucas is his son. If he found out, he would steal my baby, and I would lose Lucas forever. I could not let that happen. Later that morning, I peeped out and realized none of the guard were present. For a second, I was surprised but then I realized this could be my perfect oppprtunity. But I have to make sure the road is clear. I walked further the hallway, two staff members were arranging the flower vase, I stood near the wall and listened to them talk. "The boss left the house early," one staff member said. "He is not around today. He is very busy." When I heard those words, my heartbeat increased. Damien was not around! The guard monit
