AVA’S POV

I felt so weak and emotional inside, but I fought with everything I had not to break down in front of him. I pulled myself together, looked straight into Damien's eyes, and made sure every bit of my anger came out in my voice;

"I don't care about you anymore, Damien!" I yelled, my voice full of bitterness. "I don't care what happens to you! If you want to die right now, then die! I don't give a damn! Go far away and never come back into my life again! You mean absolutely nothing to me!"

Damien flinched slightly, but I did not stop. I stepped closer to him, letting him hear every single word clearly.

"Do you really think I came here for you?" I shouted, laughing bitterly. "The only reason I stepped foot into this cursed house was because of my son! That is the only reason! And first thing tomorrow morning, when the sun comes up, Lucas and I are leaving this place for good!"

Damien opened his mouth, his eyes wide as he tried to speak. "Ava, please, just listen to me for one minute...”

"Shut up!" I screamed, cutting him off before he could finish his sentence. I raised my hand, shocked and exhausted, not wanting to hear a single lie from his lips ever again. "Do not say another word to me! Keep your mouth shut! I don't want to hear anything from you ever again! Just get out! Leave this room right now!"

Damien stood there, locked in place. He stared at me for a few long, agonizing minutes, looking like he wanted to reach out, but my sharp gaze held him back. Finally, he let out a quiet sigh, turned around, and walked out of the room, closing the door softly behind him.

The moment the latch clicked shut, Lucas stirred on the bed. The sound of our voices had pulled him out of his sleep. I took a deep breath, wiped my face quickly, and walked over to him. I sat on the edge of the bed and pulled his small body tightly into my arms.

"Everything is okay, baby," I whispered softly, doing my best to ensure my voice stayed calm. "Everything is going to be okay. Mommy is right here."

Lucas wrapped his tiny arms around my neck, holding onto me tightly. He pulled back slightly, rubbing his sleepy eyes with his little fists, and looked up at me. "Mommy," he asked in a small, confused voice, "are we in our own house? This place feels so peaceful and quiet."

His words hit me straight in the heart. I was completely shocked that he thought this dark, cursed house felt peaceful compared to what we had been through. But I kept my face soft.

"We are going to go somewhere even more peaceful than this place, okay?" I promised him, kissing his soft cheek. "A really nice place where it will just be you and me."

"Okay, Mommy," he murmured, his eyes already closing again.

I patted his back gently, humming a low song until his breathing turned slow and steady. Soon, he was fast asleep in my arms again.

The next morning, the very second I opened my eyes, one frantic thought consumed my mind, we had to run away right now.

I gently lifted my sleeping son into my arms, held him close against my chest, and carefully stepped toward the bedroom door. I turned the handle softly, pulled the door open, and took a step outside.

My heart dropped right into my stomach.

Standing right in the hallway, blocking the exit, were two heavily guarded men. They were tall, broad, and dressed in dark clothing. The moment they saw me holding my son, they both smiled at me in a creepy, respectful way.

"Good morning, Miss Ava," one of them said politely.

Fear, mixed with wild anger shot through my veins. I didn't reply to them. Instead, I pulled back instantly, slammed the door shut with a loud bang, and locked it from the inside. I was furious, my heart racing against my ribs like a trapped bird. He had guards around.

Only a few minutes later, the door handle jiggled. The key turned in the lock, and Damien walked calmly into the room.

The sight of his cool, composed face made something snap inside me. I completely lost my mind, marched right up to him and screamed directly into his face.

"Stop treating me like a slave!" I yelled, my chest heaving. "Stop keeping me trapped in this house! You have no right to hold us here! I don't want to stay in your horrible house! Let me go right now!"

Damien stood there, completely unbothered by my rage. His face remained calm, his eyes steady as he looked down at me.

"I will let you go, Ava," he said, his voice smooth and untroubled. "I promise you I will. But not right now. Not until everything is properly settled between the two of us."

"Settled?!" I shrieked, my voice echoing off the walls. "Nothing will ever be settled between us! You are a monster, Damien. You are a pathetic coward, a liar, and a disgusting human being! I hope you burn in hell for everything you did to me!”

I spewed every horrible word I could gather from the bottom of my heart, wanting so badly to hurt him, to see him bleed, to see him cry or lose his temper.

But Damien did not care. He did not flinch even. He did not get angry, and he did not raise his voice at me.

Instead, he took a slow step forward, completely ignoring my harsh words. He reached out, grabbed my arms gently. In a way I couldn't pull away even if I tried. He leaned down toward my face. A small, infuriating smile spreading his lips. Before I could process what he was doing, he leaned in and pressed a warm, gentle kiss directly onto my forehead.

"I hear you, Ava," he whispered softly against my skin.

It was bad enough that I was being held captive like a prisoner against my will, but now I felt even worse. After Selene walked out of the room, I completely freaked out. I pulled at my hair, feeling so angry at myself. Why did I ever accept Damien's help in the first place? I was such a fool. I knew he was powerful, and now I knew he had another woman right by his side. A rich, powerful lady who was going to be his wife. I should have just run away. I should have hidden in another city. Anything was better than standing in this room, taking insults from his new woman. All through the afternoon, I stayed in the room, feeling terrible about myself.. A servant came into the room twice, bringing nice plates of hot food for me and Lucas. I fed Lucas his lunch, but I refused to eat a single bite myself. My stomach was tied up in tight knots. Ava’s POVI sat on the soft couch in the living room. My whole body was shaking. I was so jumpy that every small noise made me startle. I kept my back straight and squeezed my hands together in my lap.Selene sat right across from me on another couch. She looked so pretty, and her clothes were very nice. We just sat there in the quiet room, staring at each other in total silence for a long time. The silence felt terrible. I could hear the clock ticking on the wall, and my heart was beating fast. Finally, Selene broke the silence. She looked over at the corner of the room where Lucas was playing with a small toy on the floor."Your son is very cute," Selene said softly."Thank you," I whispered. Selene turned her eyes back to me. Her face was calm, but her eyes were very sharp. "Who is his father?" she asked directly. When she said those words, a wave of pure terror ran through my body. My hands started to shake even more. My head felt dizzy. This was the exact question I was afraid o

Ava’s POV I could not stay in this house for one more day. I spent years of my life hiding from Damien, and now I was trapped under his roof. Every single minute here felt like a bad dream. I was terrified that Damien would take Lucas away from me. I knew that if we stayed here any longer, he would find out the truth. He would figure out that Lucas is his son. If he found out, he would steal my baby, and I would lose Lucas forever. I could not let that happen. Later that morning, I peeped out and realized none of the guard were present. For a second, I was surprised but then I realized this could be my perfect oppprtunity. But I have to make sure the road is clear. I walked further the hallway, two staff members were arranging the flower vase, I stood near the wall and listened to them talk. "The boss left the house early," one staff member said. "He is not around today. He is very busy." When I heard those words, my heartbeat increased. Damien was not around! The guard monit

CHAPTER 8SELENE’S POVI stood in the center of my bedroom, my whole body shaking with pure rage. I could not keep my calm anymore. The moment the bedroom door was locked tight behind me, I completely lost my mind."How could he do this to me?!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, throwing a glass vase right at the wall.It smashed into a hundred sharp pieces, shattering onto the floor, but it did not make me feel any better. I let out another loud scream and swept everything off my dressing table with one hard swing of my arm. Perfume bottles, expensive makeup, and hairbrushes crashed onto the cold floor. How could Damien do this? How could he bring another woman into this pack house right under my nose? We were supposed to get married. I was supposed to become the Luna of this pack, and everyone was supposed to respect me. DAMIEN’S POVI stood there looking down at Selene. I could feel the coldness in her tone. It was hidden right behind her empty stare. She was trying to look calm and gentle, but her eyes were cold, blank."I am just helping someone I once knew," I told her plainly, keeping my voice flat and even. "She is in need. That is all there is to it. It is nothing else."Selene did not blink. She kept her fingers resting lightly against my chest, her face completely smooth."If that is all it is," she said, her voice still soft, slow, and dangerous, "then introduce her to me. Take me to her room right now, Damien. Let me meet this woman you are helping so kindly.”"No," I declined immediately. I did not want her anywhere near Ava or Lucas. I took a small step back, pulling my body away from her touch. "I cannot do that right now. I have an important meeting to attend with my father, and I am already running late."Selene did not push me. She did not raise her voice nor throw a tantrum. She just

DAMIEN’S POV Ava pushed me away with all the strength she had left in her body. Her small hands hit my chest hard, shoving me back. "Get away from me!" she screamed, her eyes full of pure hatred. "Just leave! Get out!" I didn't get angry at her. I stood my ground for a second, looking down at her pale, shaking body. She was completely exhausted from screaming at me, but the fire in her eyes was real. I knew I had pushed her too far with that kiss on her forehead, but I just could not stop myself from touching her. Instead of arguing with her, I turned my attention to the little boy sitting on the bed. Lucas was watching us with big, nervous eyes. I walked over to the bed, bent down on one knee, and brought myself to eye level with him. I forced a soft, warm smile onto my face. "Don't worry, little guy," I said gently to Lucas. "You and I are going to get along so well. Just give it some time." Lucas did not answer, he just stared at me, clutching his soft blanket tightly against
