If I could, I would go back and hug her and tell her to not be afraid. The South was a wonderful place, and I would do good too. I would meet a lot of sincere friends and study a major that I truly liked. I would stand on the stage while receiving awards, and I would meet a man who truly loved me. He would not alter my college application or laugh at my dreams. He also would not treat my tears as a joke. All this while, he had only respected and protected me, allowing me to be the best version of myself. My father placed my hand in William's palm. He teared up and sobbed, "Emma, happy marriage." I nodded. "Thanks, Dad." William held my hand. The priest asked if he was willing to marry me. He answered, "I do." When it was my turn, I looked him in the eyes and said with a smile, "I do." Everyone clapped. My mother cried like a child. My college friends were laughing and cheering. Then, my friends from UN society shouted, "Emma, keep shining forever!"
