Maya's POV“Where’s my god-damned order at, for fuck’s sake? I've been waiting here for over thirty minutes.”I rolled my eyes as I moved to the kitchen to get the order before this guy started to chew my ear off. Again. Not my fault he came to the cheapest café-slash-bar in Las Vegas and expected quick service.Ah, men.“Trina, the guy who ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, is getting real cracky and is on my last nerve right now. So, for the love of everything lovable, if you do not want to see one of your precious customers in a body bag, then please… hand the order over right now,” I said, stressing the please.“Oh, quit being overdramatic. There's only so much an oldie like me can do around here.”“So, you do agree you're old, huh?”“Well duh. Have you seen me? I'm all wrinkly and bones. No one is ever going to imagine that I was a little vixen back in my day. Ouuu, girl, I was getting d**ks like candy. My favorite was my night with Grayson. The man knows how to make a lady's w

Zakhar's POV“I swear I know nothing.”Crack. My fist connected with his face. His head snapped to the side, making his chair scrape against the concrete floor. The room went silent. I flexed my fingers before lowering my hand. “Let's try this again.” “Where were you last night at exactly 10:30 PM?” “At one of my side pieces’ places.” “Doing what exactly?” “S-spending a n-night with her.” “Are you sure you didn't go anywhere else, huh?” I rested a hand against my chin, pretending to consider the bullshit Sergei was feeding me. His eyes began to sparkle with hope. If I had a funny bone in my body, I'd find it funny. But I don't. I find it downright pathetic. “So let me get this straight. You were busy in a hotel room, fucking like rabbits, exactly twenty minutes before the shipment of firearms was stolen?” “Y-yes.” He swallowed. Men like Sergei let power get to their heads. They think they're gods all because they're in the Bratva, acting tough. But they’re as important a

Maya's POVBy 6:15 p.m, I felt like I was about to give up the ghost. Clearly, Bryan had hit the living shit out of me, and judging by the way he was limping, I had also done damage to him too. I was more than ready to leave. The gym was even more packed, filled with sharp sounds of gloves hitting punching bags and squeaking shoes.I pulled the wraps from my hands and shoved them into my gym bag.I didn't even have time to take a shower. I was just tired and wanted some shut-eye.Nevada's evening heat hit me the moment I stepped outside. It was cooler, but still hot.The setting sun painted the sky orange and gold as the evening heat lingered. Cars moved steadily along the road, their headlights flickering on as the city transitioned into night.Sometimes, I forget how beautiful this city can be.I slung my bag over my shoulder, ready to make my way home.“Leaving so soon?”I glanced over my shoulder.Bryan stood in the gym's doorway, arms crossed over his chest.“Unless you want an a

Maya's POVMy head was pounding.Like it had been run over by a truck.Fuck.What happened last night?Where was I?Suddenly, images of last night came rushing to me like a bullet.Holy… shit…I called him my daddy. I flirted with him in front of his family. I told him to kiss me. Him—the blue-eyed asshole, Zakhar. And I was in a fucking room, in his goddamn house. Shit.Okay, calm down, Maya. With that, I breathed in, then out, and started to scan my environment.I was in a spacious and elegant room with dark wooden furniture, cream walls, and soft afternoon light filtering through the heavy curtains. Nothing particularly intimate, just neutral. At least, that was one less thing to freak out about.I looked down at myself. My dress was still on.I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding.Okay. Good. But where are my other belongings, though? Then I saw them. My shoes were neatly placed beside the bed, while my purse and phone sat on the nightstand.I grabbed it and checked

Zakhar's POVI sat behind my office desk, staring at the endless pile of documents spread across it while the city lights flickered through the floor-to-ceiling windows.I picked up another file and skimmed through it.Numbers.Names.Reports.More fucking numbers.I sighed and tossed the file back onto the desk.Sometimes, it was frustrating being both a Bratva Pakhan and the CEO of one of the largest business groups in the country.Running a business empire was exhausting enough. Hotels needed managing. Clubs needed overseeing. Investments needed reviewing. Import and export contracts needed signing. Then there was the security company. And, of course, everything that came with being the Pakhan. It was a lot to handle. But thank fuck, I was good at handling it.Kirill stepped in without knocking.I didn't bother looking up. I picked up another file and began flipping through it.“We have a problem.”“What is it?” I asked, still focused on the file in front of me.“Ilya was doing his
