Raven cocked an eyebrow -- she didn’t particular stood up for Vera too obviously, and she didn’t think the cold girl would care even if she did.“I’m not a monster. I’m just never good at making friends,” Vera shrugged, “especially with scumbags like James.”This was Vera’s fourth game world, and she had seen her share of “leader types” like James -- using newbies like lab rats to test out game rules; hell-bent on power play as if the game wasn’t dangerous enough already.“Don’t team up with him,” Vera said, “I know why the girl Annie couldn’t finish her chore today -- James sent her on an exporing mission.”That was what his type do -- establish their power, and then take advantage of players who believed that an experienced player like James could help them when they needed it.“Thanks for the tip,” Raven nodded, “Are we friends now?”“Call us even. We’ll see if we can meet again in the game,” Vera said.Raven laughed -- Vera was right, she wasn’t good at making friends.Leaving for

Before pulling open her door, Raven looked back--Ta-mew curled into a furry ball on her clothes, eyes shut as if he was back home. She let out her long held breath. It would be okay. Both of them, would be okay. The hall way was dark and quiet. Not warm, but nor cold as if on the edge of breaking the rules.Raven curved her lips -- she was on the right track. The rules were real, but was well hidden. The real rules were the ones that would trigger punishments -- like getting into their rooms at a certain time, and a nurse would check on their after 30 minutes. But why did the game need a nurse to check on them, if breaking the rules would automatically trigger the killing fog?The answer was simple: the system couldn’t tell whether they remained in their rooms.Only the exact rules were real, and the nurse’s check up on them was more a hint then a check:It was telling the players that the rest of the time was usable.Instead of going directly to Aaron’s door, Raven spent a long minu

For a locked room, this one was really disappointing -- Raven went through the room inch by inch, and all she found was three items:This side quest -- one that didn’t even promise any gold to help the main quest, a “delivering schedule”, and a basket of cookies. The delivering schedule was a bunch of dates and numbers. Probably important information, but no where to use right now.The cookies were great, but only one was allowed to be put into her system backpack. Suspecting that means only one was allowed to take, Raven left the rest of the cookies untouched.Put the cookie away, Raven ate her chocolate bar instead -- safer this way, because she couldn’t put the chocolate bar in her backpack. Enjoying her first meal in the game leisurely, Raven started reading the letters.[Dear Dalia,[Seeing you everyday, but still, I miss you. Have you thought about my proposal? I understand your struggle, I really do. Our heart are connected, remember? I share your sorrow, your happiness, and of

The worried look on James’s face faded into a cold, indifferent mask.No point faking anymore -- Vera wasn’t cast out, Aaron and Annie would never trust him again, and Raven...James took a deep breath. He had to admit, he was wrong about Raven. He rarely trust the wrong person, but she looked too harmless from the beginning. She never trusted him, yet she found great excuses every time she sabotaged his plan.Even just now when Raven basically pointed out Rose’s trick, but she did it as if it was an innocent accident.Tsk. Rose clicked her tongue, “I shouldn’t have tried to fake it. What a waste.” She pulled out a gauze and wrapped it around her arm.Raven’s eyes moved -- Rose found a piece, too.10 pieces of the hidden item. If lucky, the game would have more than 10 pieces lying around, but Raven dared not count on it.The relic of a god, how many pieces could there be?The most likely case? There was only ten pieces to collect, and once they left this game world, it would be over.

Raven found a piece of gauze rather easily. The kitchen looked as normal as it could get. No dead bodies hanging from the window like Raven imagined. No bloody human limbs lying around, either. It was almost like Raven just took a wrong turn in a normal resturant, and ended up where meals were made only a moment ago.Mr. Bore was not in the kitchen. The players could walk around and touch anything they want. Even their chore was more than ordinary:Dishes.More than a dozen plates and their silver covers. Not easy, but far from undoable.Lesson learned from yesterday, Raven and Annie got on the dishes first thing. Dolly and Annie’s roommate Lily were also very motivated. The dishes was done within minutes. After that, Dolly left the kitchen, and Lily remained for small chores such as cleaning the stove -- which was not included in Raven’s chore list.Done.It was almost like--The game wanted the players to leave the kitchen. ASAP.Like hell Raven would.Rose indicated that she search
