Learning Love From Goodbye
"I've thought about it. Please draft up a divorce agreement for me, Mr. Chastain," Carina Sherwood says to her divorce attorney, Leo Chastain.
It's her fifth wedding anniversary with Aster Ducant, but Carina spends it at the lawyer's office instead because Aster is busy having fun with his secretary, Stella Winters, at home.
Carina is his wife, but she ends up being the one chased out of the house.
They have been married for five years, but Aster hasn't announced their marriage to the people at the company. At first, Carina thinks of bringing it up to him.
However, it just takes a few sentences from Aster for her to know that there's no need for that anymore.
"Stella's home alone, and the electricity at her place just went out. She has nowhere else to go. I'm asking her to come over for dinner. You're fine with that, aren't you?"
The best way Carina can think of to end the last five years of their relationship is through divorce.

Time for Me to Go, Time for You to Burn
On Children's Day, the most popular social media post is about me.
The caption is: "Mr. Shane Norton spends his birthday with his son David Norton and his first love, Ruth Feynman. Has he finally decided to divorce Ayla Sanderson?"
I quietly press the "like" button.
When my phone rings, I'm in the midst of taking down the balloons I put up for our wedding anniversary.
"Honey."
My husband sounds anxious as he tries to explain himself. "David suddenly insisted that we go to a theme park, so I—"
In the background, I hear David laughing. "Dad, Ruthie says that I can sleep with her tonight!"
I look at the mess in the house.
The balloons are drooping, and the cream on the cake is congealed.
"You don't have to explain," I hear myself say.
"I understand."
It's just that this time, I don't want you or David any longer, Shane.

I Got My Happy End After My Amnesia
The third year after I got diagnosed with intermittent amnesia, I happened to overhear my husband, Lucien Rook, chatting with his friends.
“Lucien, Anneliese loses her memories every couple of months, and you keep making us impersonate you to live with her. Aren’t you afraid that one of us might take it all the way one day?”
“What’s there to be afraid of?” Lucien laughed uninhibitedly, swishing the alcohol in his glass. “Annie is cold and distant. As long as you guys don’t tempt her, she won’t have any such desires.
“But I’m warning you now. You can act all you want, but you can’t ever sleep with her. Once I’ve had my fun, I will be going home to her.”
For three years, every time I lost my memories, Lucien was not the one who would hold my hand and embrace me, or even sleep with me in the same bed.
In three years, I had lost my memories nine times, and nine men had pretended to be my husband.
What they did not know was that my amnesia had been cured two years ago.

I Found a One-Way Ticket to Freedom
In our five years of marriage, my husband, Derrick Wickham, bails on me 99 times for his childhood sweetheart, Jessica Harson.
This time, after he stands me up, I find two plane tickets to Frantines in his office.
"I was planning to surprise you for our anniversary. Since you've already seen them, we'll just meet at the airport," he says icily.
I eagerly pack and get myself ready, arriving early at the airport. I wait from the wee hours of dawn till the late hours of night, but Derrick fails to show up.
Then, I see a post on Jessica's social media. "It's my birthday today. Though he doesn't have the time to go on a trip with me to Frantines, I forgive him because he brought me to the amusement park instead!"
In the past, I'd have called him, crying and demanding answers. But this time, I'm truly done.

Ditching My Fiance Who Ditched Me
My fiancé was drugged at a party and spent the night tangled up with Isabelle Parson, the housekeeper's daughter.
Afterward, Isabelle turned up pregnant, and Adrian tore up our engagement right there at our engagement party.
"Leah, Isabelle is carrying my child. I have to marry her. I know you still love me. After I marry Isabelle, you can keep being my lover."
I agreed to break off the engagement on the spot, then turned around and married Gordon—the man I'd once refused in a family alliance.
At my wedding, Adrian stood before the guests and mocked me with an icy smile.
"So this is what you've sunk to without me—marrying a pauper on the verge of bankruptcy. I'm the richest man in Jeffolton City. All you have to do is beg, and I'll let you come back to me."
I looked at him with a thin, distant smile.
He still didn't know—whoever I marry would become the richest man in Jeffolton City.

You Want That Watch? Then Watch Me Leave
On our wedding day, my bride insists on wearing an old, beat-up watch with the million-dollar wedding dress I buy her.
I call off the wedding on the spot.
She looks at me in shock. "You called off the wedding just because of a watch?"
I take out the divorce agreement and tell her to sign. "Yes. Because of that watch."
Everyone calls me crazy. They cannot believe I would end a ten-year relationship over something so worthless and file for divorce in front of everyone.
Dad walks up and slaps me across the face. "Get on your knees, you disgrace."
My mother-in-law shrieks that I have ruined her daughter's future by returning her like damaged goods.
I look at the watch on her wrist, which is stopped at 3:07, and I smile.
Then, I phone my assistant. "It's time. Release everything. I want a divorce."

Not Marrying the One I Love
My girlfriend, Celia Winters, had her first love save her life before, so she promised to do three things for him.
The first time, he called her away to ride the Ferris wheel with him when I was supposed to propose to my girlfriend.
The second time, he asked her to accompany him to see the northern lights while I was ill and hospitalized.
I had a crush on my girlfriend for eight years, so I endured all of this. It was not until our wedding that my girlfriend publicly admitted that she had not married the one she loved the most.
She comforted me, "Zane, I'll have nothing to do with Shane anymore after this. Could you please forgive me again?"
However, I did not want to endure it any longer.
Since she had not married the right person, I would let her marry him!

She Broke My Dignity, Divorce Broke Hers
Every year, my wife, Jessica Lowe, prepares a huge surprise for me on our wedding anniversary. On the night of our tenth anniversary, she enters the banquet hall with a scantily-dressed male model. She demands that I take off my suit and put it on him instead.
I refuse and take out a divorce agreement.
In retaliation, Jessica slaps a thick stack of photos onto the table.
The photos show me at my most humiliated, shameful, and pathetic moments.
She sneers, "Michael Jefferson, you talk about divorce all the time. But each time, you always end up crawling back to me with your tail between your legs, begging me to take you back.
"Tell me, what will your comatose mother think if these pictures of you get out? Will she finally wake up in the hospital from shame and embarrassment?"
However, Jessica doesn't know that my mother, Eleanor Brown, passed away months ago.

My Bride Swapped Herself for a Fool
On my wedding night, I joyfully lift the veil, only to discover that my bride has been replaced with the dim-witted daughter of my girlfriend's helper.
The laughter surrounding me grows louder. My girlfriend's male best friend gloatingly says, "According to tradition, you must spend a night with her, Mr. Leeds!
"I'll take one for the team and keep Carol company tonight instead."
Just then, my girlfriend strolls in leisurely. "It's just a joke. Don't be a sore loser. Besides, she's a complete ignoramus. Spending the night with her won't hurt you."
Seeing her sarcastic expression, I laugh.
"Now that I've lifted the veil, how can one night be enough? Since I did it, I'll take responsibility for life."

The Tender Unlasting
The wife of a renowned designer thought I was not good enough to be seen with her.
So, when the award ceremony came, she brought along her young, handsome secretary, someone who suited her image much better.
I did not argue or make a scene. I ignored the secretary's quiet provocations and stayed perfectly calm.
My wife, taken aback by how 'sensible' I had become, must have thought I had finally given up on her.
For the first time, she did not sneer or mock me.
Instead, she spoke gently for once, and told me to stay home and wait for her. She even promised a 'big surprise' for my birthday.
I lowered my eyes and nodded, hiding the heaviness inside.
She did not know that today, I was walking away for good.
