I think the fan ranking is also influenced by when people entered the fandom. Older fans who were around when SAFWY first came out might hold it in higher regard because it was the first major, serious novel expansion. It was groundbreaking at the time. Newer fans who binged the manga and then looked for more immediately gravitate towards CFYOW because it's the direct sequel. Death Save appeals to everyone because it's a universal desire—to see the characters happy after everything. Honey Dish appeals to the long-time character stans. So the 'consensus' ranking is a snapshot of the current, most vocal majority, which right now is heavily skewed towards post-TYBW content consumers. It's a living list that could theoretically shift as new fans discover the older novels.
