What Are Black Bull Black Clover Members And Their Magic Types?

For new fans, I always try to give the impression that the Black Bulls are a team of specialists with different flavor profiles. While Asta is the Anti-Magic Fitness Trainer who uses swords/grimoires that counter Magic since he has no Magic, Yami is a Dark Magic user who excels at cutting-type attacks that slice through objects, Noelle uses Water Magic and has transitioned from awkward Magic to large Water Armors and strong water-based attacks, Finral uses Spatial Magic to act as a mover for the team by creating portals that the team can pass through, as well as teleporting himself around the battlefield, and Vanessa uses Thread Magic to determine fate by weaving threads to create the outcome she desires.

This does not even include the brawlers like Magna (Fire Magic), Luck (Lightning Magic), Gauche (Mirror Magic), Gordon (Poison Magic), Charmy (Cotton Magic…or food magic), Grey (Transformation Magic), Secre/Nero (Sealing Magic…in the form of a cute bird), and Zora (Trap Magic). The Black Bulls really are a team of pure brawlers. Their way of working is far from technique and more like pure and chaotic teamwork. That’s probably why I keep rewatching the early missions of the Black Bulls.

I get so excited talking about the Black Bulls from 'Black Clover'. They're basically the chaotic family you didn't know you needed. So, I thought I'd make a little post about the main members of the group and their respective types of magic. I'll try to add in some little tidbits of information in the descriptions, which I tend to do when I'm talking about this in fan chats.

Asta – Anti-Magic: Uses his swords and his few grimoires to fight against magic. Has no mana. Yami – Dark Magic: A high amount of power and uses surprise attacks, often engulfing his enemies in darkness and then slicing through dimensions. Noelle Silva – Water Magic: A strong control of water with many very powerful offensive and defensive techniques. Her control of magic increases dramatically as the story continues.

Finral Roulacase — Spatial Magic: His capability of making a portal is without a doubt the most needed for traveling around freely. Magna Swing — Fire Magic: Like many of the members of Black Bulls, Magna is extremely hot-headed. However, he does fight using his flames while in close range with his enemies. Luck Voltia — Lightning Magic: Fight with the utmost ecstasy on his face. Use fast and agility combo’s. Gauche Adlai — Mirror Magic: See above for comparison to other members and new additions to the team. His mirror can be used in both offense and for defense. Gordon Agrippa — Poison Magic: Gordon is extremely quiet and even looks somewhat eerie at times but uses either a toxically-ased spray or vines covered in some sort of flowering poison to attack his foes. Charmy Pappitson — Cotton Magic: Although he often looks extremely sleepy or even obese Charmy has a huge amount of powerful magical transformations for him to use involving lots of fluffy cotton. Grey — Transformation Magic: For now this team member is kind of awkward but I guess in certain occasions he plays a pretty big role. Secre/Nero — Sealing Magic: For now this classed up team member is still in the form of a little bird. However, upon more research his Sealing classed up magic seems to be tied up to lots of hidden information to the world of Black Clover. Zora Ideale — Trap Magic: He is extremely gruff and very contrarian but utilizes a lot of creative trap based magic in his movements and actions.

Of course, each power reflects the personality of the user, so Noelle struggles with control, Asta is anti-everything, and even laid-back gambler Vanessa gets to have her moment in the sun. Of course, the roster of characters is subject to change as the series progresses, but as it stands, ‘Black Clover’ is very much a story of people growing up together while having all sorts of wild magic battles. It is still so enjoyable to see the Black Bulls do their thing. Most of their fun stems from banter and various character moments, but of course their most enjoyable parts are their various forms of magic. Yami and Asta are powerful for dealing physical damage.

Yami Sukehiro (Dark Magic): ABlack Bulls member who uses dimension-slicing Dark Magic for close-range combat with massive amounts of power and a multitude of techniques. Sukehiro’s battle tactics are a unique combination of his vast amount of physical strength and Dimenension Crossing Method. Asta (Anti-Magic): The main protagonist of the story who uses Magic Annexed anti-magic via sword. Battles are extremely climactic because they involve immense magical power clashing against each other as both combatants attempt to out-power one another. Noelle Silva (Water Magic): The baby of the squad who uses Water Magic that’s currently in a transitional phase from stubborny and extremely clumsy magical abilities to highly strategic magical tactics using massive constructs made out of water. Finral Roulacase (Spatial Magic): The team’s mechanical engineer and highest-ranking mobility specialist. He specializes in making large amounts of Portal Magic that greatly increase the mobility of his allies while fighting on the battlefield. Vanessa Enoteca (Thread Magic): ABlack Bulls member who uses Magic Annexed thread magic. The magical threads that she creates are said to be able to ‘stitch fate’ together. The threaded magic that she creates is occasionally game-changing if she happens to be sober when she casts it.

Magna Swing (Fire), Luck Voltia (Lightning), Gauche Adlai (Mirror), Gordon Agrippa (Poison), Charmy Pappitson (Cotton/food magic), Grey (Transformation), Secre/Nero (Sealing/shape-shifting in bird form), and Zora Ideale (Trap Magic) round out the Black Bulls. Note that while each of the Black Bulls has extremely powerful magic, it is almost all too wild to use in combat. In turn, that makes their ridiculous tactics almost work, because they are so unpredictable.
