If you're hunting for a copy of 'The Thinning', there are more options than you might expect and I love walking through them like a mini treasure hunt. Start with the obvious big retailers: Amazon usually has both paperback and Kindle editions, and you can often find used paperbacks from third-party sellers at lower prices. Barnes & Noble carries paperbacks and Nook eBooks, and their website will show store availability if you want to pick one up in person.
I also always check Bookshop.org and IndieBound when I want to support local bookstores—Bookshop.org ships nationwide and IndieBound helps you locate independent stores that can order a paperback for you. For used copies, AbeBooks,
ThriftBooks, and eBay are gold mines if the book is out of print or just older. If you prefer digital libraries, Libby/OverDrive and Hoopla let you borrow eBooks and audiobooks using a library card, which is a fantastic free option if you don’t need to own the copy.
On the ebook side, besides Kindle, there’s
kobo, Apple Books, and
google play books depending on your device and DRM preferences.
Audible or
Libro.fm are where I look if I’m in the mood for an audiobook. If the book is from a smaller publisher, check the publisher’s website — they sometimes sell signed physical copies or direct
epub downloads without DRM. Tip: look up the ISBN so you can be sure you’re buying the exact edition you want (paperback vs mass-market), and check region restrictions for ebook purchases. Happy hunting — I find
the chase for the right edition almost as satisfying as the first read.
