The CEO’s Regret: My Ex-Wife is the Hidden Tycoon

The CEO’s Regret: My Ex-Wife is the Hidden Tycoon

She handed it to a man who was sitting on a stone by the hearth—a man who had just arrived from the valley, his clothes dusty from a long journey, his face lined with an old, familiar wisdom. He didn't have a name, but as he took the pen, he looked at Xander and me with eyes that were a deep, natural brown. "The manuscript is clean," the man said, opening a new, leather-bound book that had no numbers on the pages. "Who wants to tell the first story that isn't about money?" Xander looked at me, and for the first time since Chapter One, there was no ledger between us. "Once," Xander said, his voice carrying across the new world, "there was a man, and there was a woman. And they had absolutely

Military Man's Second Chance

Military Man's Second Chance

*** Unbeknownst to Sarah, the man she still loved was pulling into his apartment complex on the other side of the city, exhausted after a hectic shift. Thank God I decided to relocate closer to work, he realized. I can’t imagine driving more than ten minutes after the night we just had. He parked his truck and wearily climbed the stairs to his apartment door. Once inside, Tim kicked off his shoes, then wandered down the hall to the bathroom. Fifteen minutes later, he was standing in front of his refrigerator in his sweatpants, trying to decide whether he had enough energy left to cook himself something to eat. A random thought popped unbidden into his tired mind and set every nerve ending al

Thirty minutes later when they have settled in a room, after eating or rather, Penelope scarfing down the meal while the man watched, the man chose to speak to Penelope again. "I think it is time you tell me everything, don't you?" he said as Penelope nodded. "Of course I will."

A Man with Nerves of Steel

A Man with Nerves of Steel

"Why do you describe the case as straightforward?" Joseph asked instead, "Who are you?" He guessed that the man was one of the Zahn family's doctors. He seemed to act just as arrogantly as Jenna. Joseph didn't have a good impression of the doctors from the Zahn family at all. The old man replied, "My identity isn't important. What's important is why you considered the case as simple."

The Man Behind Everything

The Man Behind Everything

He collapsed on the sand, convulsing, the stench of urine carried far on the wind. The party crowd that had gathered to watch earlier stood rigidly, not daring to breathe. They finally understood something. The man they had laughed at as a kept husband was the head of the Thornes, someone they weren't even qualified to approach! I held Luke close and spoke gently. "Luke, don't be scared. I'm here. No one will ever bully you again. I promise." Luke clung to my neck and nodded hard, letting out a small, muffled sound.

he said with a smile, extending his hand. "And your name?" "I'm Manue—" Manuela gasped as, upon shaking his hand, he suddenly pinned her against the shelf displaying Uno's awards. She became even more uncomfortable, especially since he was so close. She instinctively placed her hands on her chest and looked directly at him. "What do you think you're doing? As you know, I'm Uno's wife, and what you're doing is inappropriate, Mr. Thorne," Manuela snapped, attempting to push Cassian away. However, he grabbed her hands and held them against the shelf.

I like Cindy since her name was mentioned in book 1. I know back then Scott just casually mentioned her, but i have a feeling that i'll love her. And i can't thank you enough for writing her story, give her a better judgement. Her life was a mess and I want her to find peace, happiness and a family.

I read all the Mafia Men books and each one has a very interesting story, but this one here with Vince and Claire is so intriguing that you can't put the book down. Even though the book is not finish, I have started from the beginning again. if you find it in your heart to write another, I will read

Morally Gray Man And Woman Who Love Them

Morally Gray Man And Woman Who Love Them

And with that, his lamp was off too. But just because the lights were off doesn't mean I could sleep, I kept tossing and turning in bad. It was one of those cases where my mind just wouldn't shut off. How did I get here? What was supposed to be a vacation turned into a hostage situation? Was this a hostage situation anymore, I kind of agreed to stay here. With the man who was shot, the man whose life is saved. The man that was shot. The man that was shot. MAN.....SHOT.

His Human Mate

He seems to ponder on the matter a little bit and he turns to my direction. “I will offer you this kindness but let me make myself perfectly clear. Whether you live or die is not my concern. The only reason I choose to allow you to come with my mate and I to the royal capital is for my own selfish desires. Imagine I, who is known as the most despicable man in the world, delivers the news to Rosanna of how gracious I was to bring you along. She would look at me with the softest eyes as her face breaks out into a beautiful smile. She may even cling unto me and begin to open her heart to me so that I may possess her easily” he says and I do not miss the dark grin that spreads across his face. I

Frequently Asked Questions

The first time I picked up 'The Thin Man', I was hooked by its effortless blend of sharp wit and mystery. Written by Dashiell Hammett, it follows retired detective Nick Charles and his wealthy, quick-witted wife Nora as they get tangled in a murder investigation during a glamorous but boozy New York holiday. The charm isn’t just in the whodunit—though that’s brilliantly constructed—but in the sparkling dialogue between Nick and Nora. Their banter feels so modern, like something out of a screwball comedy, which makes the 1930s setting fade into the background. It’s less about the crime and more about the chemistry.

What surprised me was how lighthearted it feels despite the grim subject matter. Hammett’s spare prose keeps things moving, and the Charleses’ relationship adds warmth. The book practically invented the 'husband-and-wife detective' trope, inspiring everything from 'Hart to Hart' to 'Moonlighting'. I reread it every few years just for the dialogue—it’s that good. Plus, the martini-fueled parties make me wish I could time-travel to that era, even if just for a night.
