I don't know if this works on the new UI, but on my Voyage there's a setting to manage storage that lets you manually delete multiple books or docs (but not both at the same time) by checking a checkbox for each item and then pressing delete. I'm not sure of the path as I'm away from my Kindle at the moment.

How do I remove books from my Kindle library on multiple devices?

Books are stored in the “cloud” for your Kindle, and all of your Kindle devices and Kindle Apps for computers and smartphones are linked to your Amazon account. To remove a book from the cloud, you go to Amazon.com and delete the book from your cloud library on the Amazon website. This can be found by clicking on your name in the upper right corner of the page, then clicking on “Account & Lists”, and then “Content and Devices”. You then click on the “Content” tab on the top of the page, find the book you want to delete and click on the three dots to the right of the book’s title. From there you select “Delete”. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the book. Once deleted from the cloud library, the book will be removed from your Kindle devices and Kindle Apps within a short period of time. The book will still appear to be on your devices until they have a chance to sync with Amazon’s cloud library. You can sync a Kindle by going to the Settings menu and selecting “Sync and Check for Items”. To sync a Kindle App, you simply pull down on the screen to refresh your library. The book will then disappear from all of your devices after syncing.

I made the mistake of deleting Harry Potter from the main account’s ‘Manage Your Content and Devices’ list. My kid was very upset because I had deleted it from my list to take it out of my reading list. Now I just archive books or use the USB in each device to add books.

How to sync kindle library app across multiple devices?

The cloud is your friend. All of your purchased titles are stored in the ‘Cloud’ tab, not just what you have downloaded. In order to view the same list of titles on your devices, you need to make sure you are viewing the correct filter. On your app’s library page, click ‘All’ or ‘Cloud’ at the top of the page instead of ‘Downloaded’. This will show you a list of all of the titles that you own, regardless of whether they are on the device that you are currently using. By syncing your library, you are also syncing the cloud view of your library and your current reading position. Make sure to enable Whispersync on all of your devices and visit the cloud view of your library regularly to click ‘Sync’. New purchases that you make on any device will be reflected in the cloud view of your library on all of your devices. This is not a file transfer situation. This is just a matter of acknowledging that you have a master list of titles in the sky, and each of your devices needs to acknowledge that same list.

Does this mean books I buy will no longer clog up my library forever? I had no idea that would be an option and it could really help with the overwhelming number of books on my list. I generally don’t even look at books with low ratings.

How to delete books from kindle unlimited borrowing history?

I’ve been a Kindle Unlimited subscriber for years, and I totally get the frustration of wanting to clean up your borrowing history. The process isn’t as straightforward as it should be, but here’s how I manage it. First, log into your Amazon account via a browser—not the app—since the mobile version sometimes hides options. Go to 'Your Account' > 'Content and Devices' > 'Books.' Here, you’ll see all your borrowed titles. Click on the three dots next to the book you want to remove and select 'Return and Delete.' This removes it from your active borrows but doesn’t erase it from your history entirely. For that, you’d need to contact Amazon support directly, which can be a hassle but is doable. One thing I’ve noticed is that Kindle Unlimited’s interface feels outdated compared to other digital libraries. It’s annoying how borrowed books linger even after returning them, cluttering your history. I wish Amazon would add a 'clear history' button like Netflix or Spotify. Until then, this workaround is the best we’ve got. Also, if you’re privacy-conscious, regularly deleting your borrows helps keep your recommendations fresh and avoids algorithmic clutter.

Can I manually remove library books from my Kindle device?

Yes. That is a relief. As someone who has used e-readers with problems deleting borrowed ebooks, or storing them in arcane and proprietary apps, Kindle does this one very well. The book is a mere item in your library list. You delete it. The end. Yes, this simplicity is a major part of Kindle’s ongoing leadership in the market of borrowing ebooks from libraries. It’s just so common sense. Kindle respects the user. It assumes they are intelligent and capable of controlling their content as they see fit. And so, unlike other systems which hold the user’s borrowed content until the lending library recalls it, Kindle allows the user to delete, to make room for something else, to change one’s mind. To clear out old content as one sees fit. That is a powerful feature.

Steps to remove a book from Kindle library on mobile?

As a huge fan of the Kindle app on my tablet, I have a rather large library of eBooks. However, from time to time, my library becomes a bit of a mess as it contains a lot of finished reads that I don’t intend to read anymore. To remove these books from my library, I can go into ‘Library’ view within the app, find the book and press and hold the book cover. This brings up a menu and from here I can choose to either ‘Remove from Device’ which removes the book from the current device but leaves it in my Amazon account should I wish to re-download it at a later date. Alternatively, I can choose ‘Delete Forever’ which I only use for books that I’m certain I’ll never read again. Just a side note: Remove from Device will only remove the book from the device that you’re currently on. All of your other devices will still have access to the book. If you want to remove it completely from your library, you can go to Amazon’s ‘Manage Your Content and Devices’ page via a browser and delete it there. This can be a bit of a pain, but it’s a nice way to organize and delete lots of books at once. Using your mobile to remove books is quick and easy to do on the go.

How to delete unused dictionaries on Kindle?

8 Answers2025-08-03
Path: Home screen > Search > Gear icon > Dictionaries > Delete a dictionary by swiping left on it. I periodically delete various dictionaries as I accumulate them to keep my Kindle organized and cleaned out. The space savings aren’t that great, but it’s nice to limit the choices when choosing a dictionary for reading. For someone who only reads English books, one or two dictionaries would probably be enough.

Can Amazon remove books from my Kindle library?

This is why subscription services like Kindle Unlimited are a better fit for me than buying individual eBooks. I’m renting access to a rotating catalog of work, no misperception of ownership here. If the book in question ever leaves KU I lose it from my library – that was always the explicit agreement on my end for signing up for the service. Contrast with books that I wish to own in physical form. KU for discovery of new works, physical copies for my keepsakes – the two models of distribution serve different purposes for me and I’m extremely content with how things are currently setup.

Shared reading experiences for a fandom. I am part of a book club and we read books on our Kindles and use a private Goodreads group for our shared reading experience. We can add notes and highlights to our eBooks and if enabled, other club members can see the most popular parts of the book as well as their friends’ highlights. All highlights are synced to the members’ devices whether they added them on their e-reader or laptop. Thus, my highlighted quotes are synced and I can access them when I write my discussion post for the book club. Shared reading becomes a little less solitary thanks to this technology.
