These figurines are pure nostalgia for me. They remind me of Pokémon cards when I was a kid and how excited I was to open up a pack of cards and hope to pull my favorite Pokémon. Each shell that Carlov created to trade for these figurines is a gamble and it is so adorable to see what he comes up with in the end. My favorites are the boss figurines such as Vaati or Gleerok. They are just so cute when they are all shrunk down.

They are decorative in nature, but include some love to the game’s design. The Carlov’s Gallery looks like a scrapbook to the Mini’s travels, and yes the Heart Container to reward his is the icing on the cake to this little collection of Zelda timelessness.

A required collectible for any completionist, The Minish Cap figures make for a very grindy but very rewarding collectible. Viewing the various figurines in Carlov's Gallery becomes a chore as you check off each Mysterious Shell from your collection. Are you going to get a rare boss figure or perhaps a wacky Cucco? The suspense is real.

I just love how each of the figurines are also lore pieces, even characters the player never meets get statues. Then, of course, there is the Heart Container that the completionist gets to unlock in order to confirm their progress. Again, it’s not needed to complete the game, but rather another layer of side content to add even more depth to a game already pretty deep. Save your shells until late in the game when the rarer items like these pop up much more frequently.

The Minish Cap collectibles (or figurines) are one of those really wonderful things that make the game so charming. You collect them by trading in Mysterious Shells that you find in the game (such as by cutting grass or beating a level’s last enemy) to Carlov, who resides in the Northwestern town of Hyrule. There are 136 of these little figurines in all, depicting a multitude of characters, enemies, and items that you encounter throughout your time in the game world.

The collectible figurines in ‘The Minish Cap’ add to the completionist aspect of the game and tie in neatly with the games high to collect everything to earn rewards aspect. There are 136 collectible figurines hidden around the world, and when you collect all of them, you can trade them in for a Heart Container, a fun side-quest to collect all of them. I love how the game has captured the art work to make these little figures. Each boss, enemy, NPC etc. has been intricately made to fit in the cabinet, and it looks great. The Mysterious Shells that you use to purchase the figures are randomly collected, so it is like trading cards.

Now as an adult, watching this show, I have come to realize a lot of characteristics around romance. For one, Usagi and Mamoru have a huge age and maturity difference. They kind of gloss over this aspect in the series but it would be very apparent if they were in real life. Then there’s Makoto who wants a boyfriend so badly because of his past and how he abandoned his family. Minako on the other hand wants to be an idol so badly but has to go to school and grow up. And then there’s Rei who is initially very jealous in the series of Mamoru and Usagi. I think the show portrays these romantic ideals but shows the anxiety, the miscommunication, and the growth needed to make these kinds of relationships work. Overall I’d rate these mods a B- effort. They’re not going to win any awards for writing, and won’t ever feel fully part of the game world in the way that the main game’s story does.
