I use a website called 'Stop, You're Killing Me!' for mystery series. It's a massive index. You look up the author, and it gives you the series in order with dates and sometimes little notes. It's run by fans who are meticulous. For Lottie Parker, it listed all the main novels cleanly.
It's a niche site for a niche genre, which means the people who run it care deeply about accuracy. I trust it more than a general book site. Bookmark it if you read a lot of mysteries.

Sometimes the simplest method is the best: go to the author's Wikipedia page. Scroll down to the 'Bibliography' section. It lists all her works, usually grouped by series and in order of publication. For Patricia Gibney, you'll see the Lottie Parker novels listed right there, from 2017 onward.
It's a dry, factual list without any frills or ads. Perfect. You can then take that list and search for each title individually if you need more details or where to buy.

The international editions can sometimes have different titles or covers, which adds another layer of confusion. If you're looking at a list, make sure it's for the original English-language editions (probably UK or Irish). The title 'The Lost Child' might be published as something else in another market.
Stick to lists on UK or Irish book sites, or the author's own site, to avoid this. A list from a US-based blog might reference the US edition title, which could be the same, but it's safer to go to the source country's information.

Isn't it funny how we used to just walk into a bookstore and see them all lined up on the shelf in order? The internet solved one problem but created this new one of verifying digital lists. I miss that physical certainty.
Now, I'd probably just call a bookstore and ask. A bookseller who knows the mystery section will know the order off the top of their head or can look it up in their system in ten seconds. Sometimes the old-fashioned way is fastest.

I ask Siri or Alexa. 'Hey Siri, what's the first book in the Lottie Parker series?' It usually pulls data from Wikipedia or a partnered bookstore and gives you a verbal answer. It's shockingly effective for popular series. Then you can ask for the next one, and the next.
It's a hands-free, quick way to get the basic order if you're just starting out and need the first few titles. For the complete list, you'd need to visit the source it's pulling from, but it's a great start.

"At seventeen, Lizzie Thornton left her hometown of Fair Haven to pursue her musical dreams—and to run from Trent Younger, the boy who broke her heart.
Now a successful singer, Lizzie returns to Fair Haven nine years later. When she runs into Trent at her brother’s wedding, she discovers he’s no longer the shy boy she left behind. He’s a sexy, confident man who knows what he wants—and what he wants is her.
When a night of passion results in unexpected consequences, Lizzie must grapple with prior heartbreak and with accepting that she still loves the one man she could never forget.
Trent Younger grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, and he fought tooth and nail to establish himself as one of the most successful restaurateurs in Fair Haven. Yet he’s never forgotten Lizzie Thornton, the girl he adored, the same girl who left him to pick up the pieces of his life after tragedy struck them both.
As Trent uncovers the layers of Lizzie’s guarded heart, he realizes that he doesn’t just want her in his bed. He wants her in his life—forever.
Yet even as love rekindles, their pasts threaten to drive them apart. Unless they confront their demons, Lizzie and Trent may jeopardize a love that has already withstood the test of time."
From a writer's perspective, the clues to Lottie's ultimate character trajectory are planted in the first book. Her reliance on pills, her fraught relationship with her daughter, her instinct to work alone—these are all established early. Each subsequent book turns the screw on these traits.
If you read book five first, you'd see the culmination of those traits without understanding their origin. It would be like seeing a explosion without having watched the fuse burn. For the full narrative cause and effect, publication order is the only way. It's a carefully paced character deconstruction. Honor that pace by reading them in the order they were written and published. You'll appreciate the craft so much more.
It's interesting how the 'case difficulty' seems to escalate in parallel with Lottie's personal turmoil. The first case is tragic but relatively straightforward. As the series goes on, the crimes become more psychologically complex and personally invasive, mirroring how Lottie's own repressed memories are getting harder to contain. That's a structural connection that only works in order. The author is essentially turning up the heat on both fronts simultaneously. Reading them out of order would disrupt that careful calibration of pressure, making some personal reactions seem disproportionate to the case at hand.
As an audiobook listener, I find series order crucial for continuity. It's harder to keep track of side characters and past events when you're listening while commuting or doing chores. Having the timeline already established in your mind from previous books makes it easier to follow the new plot without getting lost trying to remember who's who.
The series is consistently good, but not every book is a masterpiece. Some readers feel a dip in book two, then a rise again. If you start with a perceived 'weaker' entry, you might write off the whole series.
Starting with the strong, acclaimed first book gives the series the best chance to win you over. You'll be more forgiving of any minor slumps later because you're already invested in Lottie. Give the series its best first impression by starting with its best foot forward.
I actually looked this up on the author's website and various book databases recently. There are no prequels or spin-offs listed. The 'Lottie Parker' series is a discrete sequence of crime novels. Sometimes authors will write a short story for a charity anthology or something, but I haven't come across any for this series.
Your best bet is to follow the numbered order: 1. 'The Last Girl', 2. 'The Stolen Girls', 3. 'The Lost Child', and so on. The later books reference events from earlier ones, so out-of-order reading isn't recommended unless you don't mind spoilers for Lottie's personal journey.
Man, I had this exact struggle a while back. The thing with Parker's Spenser series is that some lists online mix up the later books written by other authors after Parker passed. I kept finding outdated or incomplete guides.
What finally worked for me was hitting up the official Robert B. Parker estate website. They've got a dedicated bibliography section that separates the original Parker novels from the continuations. It's the most authoritative source I found. After that, Goodreads lists are decent for checking your personal progress, but you gotta watch for fan-made lists that include the 'by Ace Atkins' books in the main sequence.
I just keep a note on my phone now with the order, up to 'Silent Night' which was the last one Parker finished. Saves so much hassle when I'm at a used bookstore.
