Where Can I Legally Read Dear Benjamin Chapter 1 Online?
Did anyone find a good translation or English version of Dear Benjamin? Kind of want to avoid sketchy sites with pop-ups, but really need that official first chapter.

My local comic shop guy told me about this. He said a lot of digital-first series have their debut chapters released for free on global Comixology (now part of Kindle). Even if the rest of the volumes are paid, #1 is often a freebie to draw you into the ecosystem.
Amazon's store is a valid, if not always intuitive, place to look.
I'm leaning towards it being on Lezhin. They have a very specific brand of dramatic, often steamy romance comics, and the title 'Dear Benjamin' fits that vibe perfectly. Lezhin's app is... fine. It works.
They usually offer the first three chapters for free, so you'd be in luck if that's the case.
Check out the Comikey app or website. They've been licensing a ton of newer series, and 'Dear Benjamin' feels like exactly the kind of title they'd snap up. Their model is you get a few free chapters, then you use daily keys or pay to unlock more, which is a pretty fair legal system.
Their library is growing fast, so even if it's not there now, it might pop up in a few months. Worth keeping an eye on.
Ugh, this reminds me of the great 'Where to read X' hunt of last year. I ended up down a rabbit hole of defunct scanlation group websites and Wayback Machine archives. My final, desperate move is always to check if the series has an official English publisher page.
Even if they don't host it, they'll list their partners.

Amara Bennett has a rule:
Never let anyone close enough to break your heart twice.
After a humiliating breakup that turned her into the laughingstock of her school, she’s done with romance, done with hope, and definitely done with boys who make promises they can’t keep.
Then Julian Reyes transfers into her class.
Charming without trying. Annoyingly kind. The type of boy who remembers little things—like how she hates strawberries on cake and how she always pretends she’s okay when she isn’t.
At first, Amara can’t stand him.
Mostly because Julian somehow sees through every wall she built around herself.
But when a misunderstanding makes the entire school believe they’re dating, Julian offers her a deal: fake a relationship until the rumors die down.
Simple.
Except nothing about Julian feels fake.
Not the way he waits outside her classroom just to walk her home.
Not the way his hand finds hers during crowded hallways.
And definitely not the way he looks at her like she’s the best thing he’s ever found.
For the first time in a long time, Amara begins to believe love might not be something meant to hurt her.
But just when she finally lets herself fall, she discovers the truth Julian has been hiding since the day they met—a truth that could destroy everything between them.
Because Julian didn’t transfer to her school by coincidence.
He came for her.

"After witnessing his parents’ doomed love affair, serial playboy Ash Younger decided long ago that love was not meant for him. With his charm and good looks, he’s never lacked for beautiful women. He may push numbers as an accountant by day, but by night, he’s only interested in having a woman in his bed.
Yet the night he encounters a mysterious—and gorgeous—widow who doesn’t immediately fall under his seductive spell, Ash realizes he wants her more than he’s ever wanted another woman.
Following the loss of her husband two years ago, Violet Fielding wants to focus on two things: her jewelry business and beginning her life anew in the small town of Fair Haven, Washington. She doesn’t have time for men or romance, and she certainly doesn’t have time for a man who’s a well-known playboy and younger than her.
Violet already found the love of her life in her husband, and after his death, she knew she could never love anyone again.
But when Ash kisses her, all of her plans and promises are turned upside down. A passion stronger than either Ash or Violet could imagine envelops them both one night—and that night changes everything.
As old heartbreaks threaten to tear the couple apart, both must find the courage to see that, of all things, love is worth a second chance."
Finding free online copies of manga like 'Dear Benjamin Vol 1' can be tricky since official releases usually require payment to support the creators. I totally get the urge to read it without spending—I’ve been there! But piracy sites often pop up in search results, and while they might offer quick access, they hurt the industry and sometimes have sketchy ads or malware. Instead, I’d recommend checking if your local library offers digital lending through apps like Hoopla or Libby. Some libraries even partner with manga platforms!
If you’re tight on cash, keep an eye out for free trial periods on services like Manga Plus or ComiXology. They occasionally give limited-time access to certain titles. Also, fan scanlations used to be more common, but these days, supporting official releases is way more sustainable for the artists. Maybe set a Google Alert for legal free promotions—publishers sometimes do giveaways! In the meantime, diving into similar romance manga on legit free platforms could tide you over. 'Horimiya' or 'Fruits Basket' might scratch that itch while you wait!
It reads like the first chapter of a gothic novel. A stormy evening, a lone carriage, a brooding mansion of learning. Benjamin is the archetypal isolated protagonist. He's introduced to the staff: a butler with dead eyes, a house matron who smells of mothballs, and the headmaster's assistant, a severe woman named Miss Grey. The plot is minimal—settling in, a silent dinner—but the atmosphere is thick with foreboding. The introduction of the headmaster is saved for the final line, as a shadow in a doorway, asking if Benjamin is 'the one from the Blackwood family.' It relies on tropes, but executes them with such sincere gusto that it works.
Oh wow, 'Dear Benjamin' is such a gem in the BL world! I stumbled upon it while browsing manga aggregator sites like MangaDex or Bato.to—those are usually my go-tos for niche titles. The art style is so soft yet expressive, and the story’s emotional depth really got me hooked. Sometimes, unofficial scanlation groups pick up lesser-known works like this, so checking their Discord or Twitter might lead you to hidden uploads. Just be mindful of supporting the creators if it ever gets licensed!
I remember tearing up at certain scenes because the character dynamics feel so raw. If you’re into physical copies, keep an eye on publishers like SuBLime or Tokyopop—they often license BL manga. Until then, fan translations might be the only option, but hey, stumbling upon those feels like finding treasure in a thrift store.
I found the lack of physical description for Benjamin intriguing. Or rather, the description is piecemeal, focused on specific details (eyes, hands, voice) while the whole picture remains blurry. This mirrors the protagonist's perception—they're too close, too focused on the parts to see the whole man. The relationship is founded on this myopic, detail-obsessed view. We're not seeing Benjamin; we're seeing the protagonist's fragmented, intense impression of him. It's a relationship built on impressions, not reality.
