I guess there are alternatives these days, but they tend to vary from publisher to publisher. Mostly people have switched to web-based reading platforms that offer similar libraries and update schedules to the novels. By the way, I recently finished reading a web novel called ‘Bully Me’. It’s a really intense and emotional school-set novel that explores a really compelling revenge arc. It’s free to read on several websites, and you can read it on your mobile from your browser without needing to download any apps.

As has been the case for a while now, there’s still no official toonily.me app. As has been the case for a while now, the site is pretty much a web-host for scanlations & fan-uploaded manga.

If you want to read safely and comfortably, I’ve moved to official platforms to read WebComics and manhwa a long time ago. LINE Webtoon and Tapas are two good apps to read English original comics on a frequent update basis. For published serialized manga, I read on MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA (SHUEISHA’s official manga app) and VIZ Manga / Shonen Jump app (simultaneous release for many titles). I read Western comics and single-issue comics on ComiXology (guided view is very comfortable to read).

But if you are looking for the vast library of fan-made translations that used to reside on sites such as toonily, there are many community-driven hubs for web-first manga including MangaDex (previously featured) and various reader apps created to interface with said hubs. Android users can pair reader apps like Tachiyomi with relevant extensions to aggregate content from a variety of sources (many of which are, naturally, licensed, while others are unlicensed). As someone who strives to find a balance between the two, I acknowledge that even paid apps and official digital releases cost more than their free counterparts – but they also serve to pay creators for their work. Reading on a clean and supported app is simply nicer in the long run.

There is no official toonily.me app, but I can provide you with some of the alternatives to read original webtoons and manhwa. There are mobile-friendly apps for ‘LINE Webtoon’ and ‘Tapas’ where you can read original webtoons for free with option to purchase. For mainstream Japanese manga, the cleanest and most legal way to read would be ‘Manga Plus’ by Shueisha and ‘Shonen Jump’ by VIZ in ‘VIZ Media’ app (releases on the same day as in Japan).

For Android, apps that support MangaDex or Tachiyomi are great for people who like to read from a variety of sources. Be aware that the legality of these sources can vary, though. Generally, I prefer to stick to official apps for new series and then use community-driven readers to search for older, obscure titles. They can be a great way to add some variety to your collection and add to your list of guilty-pleasure reads.

I am still pretty excited to talk about alternatives to read on your phone/tablet/computer. There is no mobile/desktop app available for toonily.me (the site has never been a publisher or distributor for any other webcomic, hence it has never been added to any app store for download).

If you are looking for legitimate apps with large libraries of updated content, consider installing LINE Webtoon, Manga Plus, VIZ Manga / Shonen Jump, Lezhin Comics, or Tapas. Webtoon and Tapas are great for long form webtoon reading, Manga Plus for current serialized Japanese manga, and Lezhin for mature content released episode by episode for pay. Typical app features to look for include offline reading capability, syncs to reading position on other devices, and excellent curated content feeds. Many titles are region locked, and may contain microtransactions to ‘unlock’ content.

For serious fans, there are more complex Android apps available, such as 'Tachiyomi'. The App is very flexible and even extendable with extensions - however, depending on the added functionality even unlicensed sources are imported into the library. Since we care about privacy and security, we recommend using the official apps in the play Store resp. App Store and, for the support of good comics, subscribing to services that payout fair to the creatives so that the apps stay up to date and polished. Personally, I use several Apps to read my manga, depending on what I currently read.

Browsers are better than apps when it comes to aggregating web pages. To create a great reading experience for your users, create a browser with a reading mode, a powerful ad-blocker and comfortable dark theme. Samsung Internet, Kiwi Browser or even Firefox with various extensions will perfectly transform a complicated aggregator page into a comfortable reading space. So, instead of searching for the perfect app, invest time to configure your browser to your needs. The skills you acquire will be transferable to any other website that appears in the future. This is more fundamental and sustainable than poor web design.

What are the best bato.to app alternatives for manga readers?

A social graph to discover more of what your friends are reading would be amazing to have integrated into an app, similar to how the official Webtoon app has friends that you can follow. Most manga reading is a solo activity, so an app that combined an amazing reader with a very light social aspect to connect with friends and get them to read a book that you think they would enjoy would be the best. Algorithms can suggest content, but personal recommendations are so much better. That’s why I think the best book recommendations come from friends and family, and I would love an app that has a good reader integrated with a social layer of minimal intrusion that allows users to easily follow friends and send each other recommendations.

Where can I access toptoon free episodes now?

Social pressure to stay up to date with the latest episodes of TV shows is another factor that drives piracy. While free passes on late episodes are usually provided by services in order to allow viewers to catch up, it can take a long time to get up to speed. Meanwhile discussions about current episodes on social media will be ongoing. Watching something legally might mean not being able to discuss it online with your friends, while going the pirate route means downloading a poorly translated version of a movie or TV show on a website filled with malware just so you can discuss it with your friends on Twitter, a priority best avoided.

Does manhwahub have an official mobile app?

I dug into this because I wanted a cleaner way to read on my phone, and the short, practical truth is: ManhwaHub does not offer an official mobile app. What they do have is a mobile-friendly website that works fine in a browser, but any apps you see in the Play Store or App Store claiming to be 'ManhwaHub' are almost always third-party clients or clones rather than an official release. That matters because unofficial apps can bundle intrusive ads, trackers, or even malware, and they often violate site rules or copyright policies. If you want a near-app experience, I usually add the site to my home screen (Chrome and Safari both let you do this) so it launches like an app without installing anything risky. For reliably licensed reads, I also rotate between platforms like 'Webtoon', 'Tapas', and 'Manga Plus' depending on what I'm following. Personally, I prefer the home-screen shortcut trick — it's fast, safe, and keeps my phone tidy.

What are the best alternatives to KickAssAnime?

For the most part, I search for anime on Twitter. When a new episode is released, people will post direct links to the video or even make a thread with links to watch in order to avoid regional blocks. You can search for the hashtag for the anime and the number of the episode and find what you’re looking for within minutes. It’s usually a pretty chaotic and ephemeral thing, but it’s really fast and it’s fan-based, so it’s a really great way for people in the fandom to share information with each other in real-time. It’s not really a site, it’s more of a behavior, but for me, in terms of an alternative to regular sites, Twitter is a social media site that can be used as a real-time link aggregator. You just have to be fast enough to find the link before it gets taken down, but for that immediate post-broadcast time, it’s really the best way.

What are the best alternatives to MasterAnime?

The site is still shut down which I'm very bitter about. It had a really unique layout and even though the comments were somewhat dysfunctional on occasion, reading through the comments for every episode was half the fun of watching the show. All the replacement sites for the show are pretty soulless compared. The "legitimate" sites have very basic, uninterested designs and the "pirate" sites are all just video streams of TV shows with big "DOWNLOAD NOW" buttons all over them. I'm forced to watch the show on one site and then go to Reddit or the show's Discord channel to discuss the show with others. The experience of watching TV shows has been severely split.

What are the best alternatives to Manga Buddy?

Manga Reader (the one with the blue book icon) has a lot of new users lately. Manga Reader is available on the Play Store, which is great for me since I’m on Android. It supports a large library of Manga sites and aggregators. It’s very easy to read with plenty of customisation for things like viewer type and brightness. There are ads in the free version of the app, but the premium unlock is a one-off purchase, not a subscription, which I like. Manga source updates can sometimes take a while to roll out when a site’s layout changes. It doesn’t have the same level of tracking for reading completion that some of the other apps do, but that’s about it. If you want a no-fuss, download-from-the-Store app that works most of the time, Manga Reader is a very strong contender.

I’m also curious to hear others’ thoughts on this, but in-app messaging to me seems to be a current weak point of many apps.

What are the best alternatives to VoyeurWeb?

When looking for alternative sources of sexual content I surprisingly found a lot of good quality, boundary pushing artists on Behance (a website for creative artists to showcase their work) as well as on NSFW ‘secret’ blogs on Tumblr (a blogging website that still has a lot of adult content up – if you know where to look). NewTumbl is an attempt to recreate Tumblr, but it’s very much a ghost town at the moment. PornHub also have a ‘Model Hub’ section which is largely commercial and not really what I’m looking for. Each of these sites has their own quirks and ways of working (Tumblr’s tagging system is a complete mess, for example, while Behance is very strictly moderated).

Which is the best batoto alternative for manga readers?

Seriously though, does anyone else just use Google to find their Manga to read? I don't really have a home page or anything, so when I want to read something, I just search for the title of the Manga and the chapter number I'm on, then click the first result that isn't a list of ads. Sometimes it's Mangadex, sometimes it's Mangasee, other times it's some other site or even some aggregator that I've never heard of before. It's pretty chaotic, but hey, it works for me. Since I'm not really invested in any particular platform or site, this method of reading Manga online accepts the chaos for what it is and continues to work even when a site is down. It's the path of least resistance, really.

Are there alternatives to Newtoki website link?

10 Answers2026-04-04
Unfortunately I have no solution for this problem and I’m still using the link I saved months ago. It’s still working, but I don’t dare to reload the page or delete my cookies, because I fear that the link might stop working. So I’m living on the knife’s edge. Maybe I’ll just read through this one and then take a long break from webtoons. It’s not worth getting stressed up over something one reads for entertainment.
