In What Order Do Alex Cross Crossover Books Fit The Main Series?
Reading Alex Cross books but confused where the crossovers fall in the main series timeline. Some stories involve The Women's Murder Club and Michael Bennett.

From a collector's standpoint, the books themselves don't indicate a crossover order. The spine just says 'Alex Cross' and the number. The internal chronology is messy because Patterson and his co-authors write so many books per year. The best resource is fan-made timelines on forums, which try to place every short story and crossover. But for a normal reading experience, your plan should be: Main series in numeric order. Then, if you're still hungry, read the 'Michael Bennett' series in order. Finally, read the crossover-focused novels like 'The President Is Missing'. That's the most logical approach.

For a practical list: Start with 'Along Came a Spider' and go in order. Insert 'The Christmas Wedding' after 'Cross Fire' if you want, but it's a standalone holiday novel. The significant crossover arc is the 'Michael Bennett' link. Read 'Step on a Crack' (Bennett #1) before 'Kill Alex Cross' (Cross #19). Then, read 'I, Michael Bennett' (Bennett #7) before 'Cross My Heart' (Cross #21). After that, the connections get looser. 'The President's Daughter' (a standalone with a Cross mention) comes much later. Honestly, wikis have detailed timelines, but this should keep you mostly oriented.

I treat them like comic books. There's the main 'Alex Cross' title, and then there are 'limited series' and 'team-up' one-shots. You can follow the main title month-to-month and be fine. The team-ups are extra stories that might reference events in other titles, but the writers recap what's important. So, read the Alex Cross series. If you see a cool-looking crossover, pick it up. The reading experience is designed to be modular. Patterson's a master of commercial fiction—he doesn't want readers to feel lost because that hurts sales.

This is book 7 in The Carrero Series, although you can read this without prior books. There are back story hints from previous books worked in, so this new trio can be read alone.

“You’ve never had two naked men make you the center of all of their attention?” Drake said. “Never had two men worship you with every single inch of their bodies?”
“Never been sandwiched between two huge, hard guys?” Dux said. “Never been kissed and touched by two sets of hands and lips?”
“No,” she whispered. “Never.”
“Is that something you’d like?” Dux’s voice was getting even deeper, even darker. “Something you’d want to experience?” ****
Dux and Drake Keeler are ex–Road Devils MC enforcers, twins who live fast, fight dirty, and love without limits. Fresh off a brutal raid on a cult compound, they’re tearing across the country with one goal: protect what’s theirs. And lately, that’s Briley.
The brothers are equal parts savage and irreverent, bound by blood and an unbreakable rule: they share everything. Including desire. They want Briley in their world, their arms, their bed, and they’re unapologetic about it.
Briley Cross is still reeling from surviving a cult and killing its leader. The twins offer her a new start, and something far more dangerous: devotion from two men who make her the center of everything. It’s tempting. Terrifying. Irresistible.
But when enemies of the Road Devils go to war, Briley becomes the target. As Dux and Drake unleash hell to save her, she’s carrying a secret that could change all their lives...if they survive long enough to claim it.

This book is made up of three parts featuring three different couples.
The First book ( Alpha Maddox's Mortal Temptation) is the prelude to the second and third book).
Camille is done with small-town dreams.
Stuck waitressing in Mystic Falls with no money, no degree, and no way out, she’s desperate for a spark, something to make her feel alive again. She just never expected that spark to come in the form of a dangerously sexy stranger.
When Maddox and his mysterious crew ride into town, everyone whispers they’re a biker gang. But there’s something different about them, something wild, primal… and powerful. From the moment Camille meets , an electric desire burns between them.
But Maddox isn’t human.
He’s a werewolf, the alpha of his pack and the very man who made the law that no shapeshifter can ever be with a human.
Haunted by the ghosts of the Great War, Maddox is trying to protect his pack and rebuild a life. Yet Camille’s scent, her strength, and her fire unravel everything he’s fought to control. As darkness creeps into Mystic Falls, threatening to destroy them both, Maddox must face an impossible choice:
Break his own rule… or lose the woman who’s become his reason to fight.
The Second book features Alpha Lucien Grayson (werewolf) and Seraphine Vale (vampire). It's a fierce enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience book.
The third book features Alpha Zane Nightclaw (werewolf) and Anna Holt (hybrid, half human and half werewolf). it's a forced proximity book.
Three forbidden mates. Three supernatural bonds. One twisted fate.
A vampire bred for bloodshed. A dragon prince who defies his crown. A demon with nothing left to lose.
For Marcus DeLuca, a mate has always been an impossibility. But fate gives him one anyway. A werewolf. His mortal enemy. And she’s already promised to her alpha. Will he betray his father and Elders to keep Danielle alive?
Aidan is supposed to be untouchable. But one reckless decision—one taste of Sarah—and he shatters every rule that keeps their worlds apart. Now he’s losing control, becoming the greatest danger to Sarah’s life. Can he still protect his reluctant mate?
Zane is used to being wanted. Desired. Feared. As an incubus, pleasure is his weapon—and his curse. But Elena is different. Smart. Ruthless. Untouchable. Not interested in him in the slightest. Can he survive the one woman who sees the monster inside him?
Their bonds are brutal. Addictive. Dangerous.
And the only thing more deadly than loving each other is what happens if they don't.
The covers are a clue. The main Alex Cross books typically have very stark, bold typography with a single dramatic image. The Ali Cross books have a younger, more dynamic, almost graphic novel-like style. The crossover novellas often have a blend of elements from both series. You can literally judge these books by their covers to sort them into piles: main series, teen spin-off, and crossover. Then read each pile in publication order.
I borrowed 'Cat & Mouse' from a friend and loved it, then discovered it was book four. Had to hunt down the first three. It was worth it. 'Along Came a Spider' sets up everything—his home life, his job, his psyche. Reading 'Cat & Mouse' first, I was confused about the depth of his grief and his history with the FBI.
Starting from the beginning made that fourth book even better on a re-read. So yeah, order enhanced the experience for me. It's a commitment, but the payoff in character understanding is big.
