I've looked into 'Oshiri Tantei' quite a bit. The series, which started as a book and later became an anime, is a hit in Japan but hasn't made its way to English-speaking markets officially. The lack of an English translation is surprising given how popular it is among kids in Japan. The stories are clever and playful, with a detective who solves mysteries using his, well, behind. It's the kind of series that could do really well internationally if given the chance.

I've seen some discussions in fan communities about unofficial translations, but they're often incomplete or inconsistent. The anime's vibrant animation and catchy theme song would definitely appeal to kids everywhere. It's a missed opportunity for publishers, especially since there's a growing demand for diverse children's content. Until an official translation comes out, fans might have to rely on subtitled episodes or learn Japanese to enjoy it fully.

I love quirky anime, and 'Oshiri Tantei' is one of those gems that's both hilarious and oddly educational. The premise—a detective who uses his butt to solve crimes—sounds ridiculous, but it works surprisingly well. Unfortunately, there's no official English translation of the books or the anime, which is a bummer. I've watched a few episodes with fan subs, and the humor translates pretty well, but it's not the same as having a proper release.

The series has a unique charm that would resonate with kids and adults alike. The animation is bright and cheerful, and the mysteries are simple but engaging. It's the kind of show that could easily become a cult favorite if it were more accessible. I hope someday a publisher sees the potential and brings it to English-speaking audiences. Until then, it remains a hidden treasure for those willing to seek it out.

there isn't an official English translation of the books or the anime series yet, which is a shame because it's such a delightful series. I've seen some fan translations floating around online, but they don't quite capture the charm of the original. The way the show blends silly butt jokes with actual mystery-solving is genius, and I really wish more people could enjoy it in English. Maybe one day a publisher will pick it up, but for now, it's mostly accessible to those who understand Japanese.

The novel is mainly about the forgotten British poet/writer named C. J Richards who lived in Burma/Myanmar in colonial times and he believed himself as a Burmophile. He served as I.C.S (Indian Civil Servant) and when he retired from I.C.S service, he was a D.C (District Commissioner) and he left for England a year before Burma gained its independence in 1948. He came to Burma in 1920 to work in civil service after passing the hardest I.C.S examination. He wrote several books on Burma and contributed many monthly articles to Guardian Magazine published in Burma from 1953 to 1974 or 1975. Though he wrote several books which had much literary merit to both communities, Britain and Burma (Myanmar), people failed to recognize him. The story has two parts: one part is set in the contemporary Yangon (then called Rangoon) in 2016 context and a young literary enthusiast named “Lin” found out unexpectedly the forgotten writer’s poetry book and there is surely a good deal of time gap that led him into a quest to know more about the author’s life. The setting is quite different comparing to colonial Burma and independence Myanmar (Burma), early twentieth century and 2016 which is a transitional period in Myanmar. The writer’s life is fictionalized in the novel and most of the facts are taken from his personal stories and other reference books. It is a kind of historical novel with a twist and it has comparatively constructed the two different periods in Myanmar history to convince readers, locally and abroad more about history, authorship, humanity, colonialism, and transitional development in Myanmar today.

I’ve been a huge fan of 'Oshiri Tantei' since my niece introduced me to the series. These books are perfect for kids around 4 to 8 years old. The stories are simple, fun, and filled with silly humor that little ones adore. The main character, a detective with a butt for a face, is quirky enough to grab their attention instantly. The illustrations are bright and engaging, making it easy for early readers to follow along. My niece couldn’t stop giggling at the absurd yet charming adventures. The language is straightforward, with short sentences and repetitive phrases, which helps build confidence in young readers. It’s also great for parents or teachers looking for a lighthearted way to encourage reading habits. The themes are innocent and playful, focusing on friendship and problem-solving in a way that resonates with preschoolers and early elementary kids. If you’re looking for something to entertain a child who’s just starting to explore books, this series is a fantastic pick.

What Inspired The Creation Of Oshiri Tantei Novels?

I've always been fascinated by how quirky and unexpected ideas can turn into something big. The 'Oshiri Tantei' novels are a perfect example of that. The author, Troll, was inspired by the sheer absurdity of using a detective with a butt for a face, which makes kids laugh while also engaging them in mystery-solving. The humor is so over-the-top that it grabs attention instantly. The series plays with the idea that even the silliest things can be smart—like how Oshiri Tantei solves cases with logic despite his ridiculous appearance. It’s a blend of slapstick comedy and clever storytelling that appeals to kids who might not normally enjoy reading. The success proves that sometimes, the weirdest concepts resonate the most.

Where Can I Read Oshiri Tantei Novels Online For Free?

I’ve been obsessed with 'Oshiri Tantei' ever since my little cousin introduced me to the series. It’s such a fun and quirky detective story for kids, and I totally get why it’s so popular. If you’re looking to read it online for free, I’d recommend checking out legal platforms like BookWalker’s free section or Comixology’s free trials—they sometimes have promotional content. You might also find some chapters on official publisher sites like Shogakukan’s kids’ section, which occasionally offers free samples. Just be careful with unofficial sites; they often have poor translations or sketchy ads. Supporting the official release is always better if you can, but I totally understand wanting to explore before committing.

Are There Any Oshiri Tantei Merchandise Or Toys Available?

3 Answers2025-08-03 10:49:54
I’ve been obsessed with 'Oshiri Tandei' since my niece introduced me to it, and I’ve scoured the internet for merch. There’s actually a decent amount out there! You can find plushies of the main character, Detective Butt, which are super cute and soft. There are also keychains, stickers, and even notebooks featuring the iconic butt-shaped detective. Some Japanese online stores like AmiAmi or Mandarake occasionally stock these items, but they sell out fast. I managed to snag a limited-edition acrylic stand from a convention last year. If you’re into quirky anime merch, this series has some fun options. For collectors, there’s also a line of mini figures based on the characters, though they’re a bit harder to find. I’ve seen them pop up on eBay, but prices can be steep. The anime’s popularity means new merch drops occasionally, so keeping an eye on official social media accounts helps.

I've been collecting 'Oshiri Tantei' books for years, and the illustrations on the covers always catch my eye with their quirky charm. The artwork is done by the talented duo, Takahiro Yoshimatsu and Yuko Shimizu. Yoshimatsu's bold, cartoonish style pairs perfectly with Shimizu's playful character designs, making each cover feel like a mini-adventure. Their work really brings the mischievous spirit of the butt-detective to life, and I love how they balance humor with vibrant visuals. It's no wonder kids and adults alike are drawn to these books—the covers are just as fun as the stories inside!

Is There An Oshiri Tantei Anime Adaptation Available?

I remember stumbling upon 'Oshiri Tantei' while browsing for quirky anime series to watch with my younger cousins. It's a delightful adaptation of the children's book series by Troll, featuring a detective with a rather unique feature—his buttocks! The anime aired in 2018 and ran for 50 episodes, each filled with humorous and light-hearted mysteries. The animation style is colorful and playful, perfect for kids, but I found myself chuckling at the clever wordplay and silly scenarios too. The main character, Oshiri Tantei, solves cases with his trusty sidekick, Brown, and the show has a way of making even the simplest mysteries feel exciting. If you're looking for something fun and family-friendly, this is a great pick.

I remember binge-reading the 'Oshiri Tantei' series with my niece last summer—it’s one of those rare kids' detective series that’s genuinely fun for adults too! The series has 12 main volumes, each packed with quirky mysteries solved by the cheeky detective. What’s charming is how the stories balance humor and simple logic puzzles, making them perfect for young readers. The illustrations are adorable, and the repetitive catchphrases become weirdly addictive. I’ve even spotted spin-off activity books and a stage adaptation, which shows how popular it is in Japan. If you’re into lighthearted mysteries, this series is a gem.
