Archive of Our Own is absolutely the epicenter. The tagging system makes it a dream to navigate for specific dynamics—you can filter for everything from Kanej heists to Wesper domestic fluff, and the quality of writing there tends to be higher because the culture encourages concrit and detailed summaries. I’ve been reading 'Six of Crows' fics since the duology dropped, and I remember the migration from Tumblr and FF.net to AO3 as the fandom matured. The collections and series functions are perfect for those massive, novel-length alternate universe stories that the fandom loves.

FanFiction.net still has a surprising amount of older material, but it feels a bit like a ghost town for new works—the interface is clunky, and there's no real way to tag ships properly. Still, if you're hunting for fics from 2015-2017, you’ll find some classics there that never got ported over. I sometimes browse it out of nostalgia, but I never expect to find recent gems.

Tumblr’s role is more about discovery and community than hosting. Writers will post snippets, moodboards, and link to their full works on AO3. The 'six of crows' tag there is a chaotic feed of gifsets, headcanons, and recommendations. For actual reading, though, you’re almost always kicked over to another platform. It’s essential for feeling plugged into the fandom’s pulse, but not your primary library.

AO3, no contest. The tag filtering alone makes it the only viable option if you're looking for something specific, like Kaz-centric hurt/comfort or a Jesper & Wylan pre-relationship slow burn. You can get lost for days. I tried Wattpad once, but the organization is a nightmare compared to AO3's clean system. Most of the authors I follow cross-post from Tumblr to AO3 anyway, so that’s where I have all my bookmarks saved.

It depends on what you mean by 'popular.' If you mean the most kudosed, bookmarked, and widely recommended long-form stories, then Archive of Our Own is the clear winner. The culture there supports elaborate, edited works, and the kudos system acts as a rough quality filter. However, for shorter, more experimental pieces, prompt fills, and drabbles, Tumblr is still incredibly active. The interaction is more immediate through reblogs and replies. I’ve found some brilliant character studies on Tumblr that never make it to AO3 because they feel too incomplete. Also, don’t forget about dedicated fanfiction recommendation blogs and sites that compile lists—they often pull from multiple platforms, making the 'host' less important than the curator.

Archive of Our Own, hands down. The tagging system is perfect for a series with so many ship permutations. You can find everything from dark alternate universes where the Ice Court heist went wrong to fluffy coffee shop AUs. Most of the authors with a big following have migrated there because it offers the best control over their work and the easiest way for readers to find it. Everything else feels secondary.

I’d actually push back on the idea that any single platform 'hosts' the most popular ones. Popularity is fluid. A fic might blow up on AO3, then get rec'd endlessly on Tumblr, then have a TV Tropes page, and its dialogue might become shorthand on Twitter or Discord. The truly big fics exist across spaces. That said, for the actual text, AO3 is the undisputed main repository. Its kudos and comment system creates a visible hierarchy, so the fics with thousands of kudos are easy to find. I’m less convinced about Wattpad being a major player for this fandom—the search is messy, and it seems dominated by very young writers doing reader-insert stuff, which isn’t the core of what most 'Six of Crows' fans are after. Discord servers often have dedicated fic-rec channels where curated lists live, bypassing platform algorithms entirely.
