I get why platforms like Quotev or Wattpad might come up, but the editorial standards just aren't there for what I'd call 'top-rated.' The real curation happens through community engagement, and that's Ao3's whole model. A series like 'Skyfall' on Ao3 has hundreds of kudos and intricate chapter-by-chapter discussion in the comments. That's how you know it's resonating. Writers there are already exploring post-canon scenarios and alternative first meetings, which suggests a deeper investment. The platform's structure rewards completed, polished work for niche ships, so that's where the dedicated authors cluster. You might miss a hidden gem elsewhere, but your time is better spent where the concentration of quality is higher.
Ao3, no contest. Sort by kudos, filter for completed works. There's a three-part series called 'The Corviknight and the Brave Bird' that's fantastic—really nails Amethio's internal conflict. Wattpad's rankings feel arbitrary, driven by update speed over substance. FF.net is too quiet for this pairing.
Reddit's the place for recommendations. I've seen posts on r/pokemonfanfiction and the main 'Horizons' sub asking exactly this. People usually point you to Ao3, but someone mentioned a decently plotted series on Fanfiction.net the other day. I checked it out—'Gale of Change' was the title—and it was okay, a bit more formal in its prose. Honestly, most of the buzz is on Ao3 though. The tagging system makes it easier to find what you're after, and the commenting culture seems to foster better long-form work for this pair.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much for a ship from 'Pokémon Horizons'—it's so new. But the fandom moved fast. Ao3 has a solid tag for it; that's where I've seen most of the well-written stuff. Sort by kudos and you'll find a few authors who are already establishing the dynamic, playing with Amethio's whole 'rival from the evil team' vibe and Friede's more easygoing pilot energy. It's that classic enemies/rivals tension, I guess.
Wattpad has a ton of fics too, but the quality is... wildly inconsistent. Lots of 'reader insert' stuff mixed in, which isn't my thing. I had to filter through pages of those. The top-rated ones on there tend to be shorter, fluffier pieces. If you want longer, plot-heavy series, Ao3 is definitely the more reliable spot right now. I'm keeping an eye on the tag there; it updates pretty frequently for such a fresh pairing.

Freya Rose has an epic fight ahead of her, but she's ready for it. Coming up against fallen angel Azael isn't going to be easy, but with her pack of hybrids beside her, she feels confident that victory will be hers. But as we know from past experience, nothing in Freya's life ever goes to plan, and I have a feeling that now is going to be no different. In this fifth episode of the Freya Rose series, we meet some new fantastical characters, and we lose some much-loved ones too. With plenty of drama, humor, and new love interests, I doubt you're going to want to miss what happens next.In this book, we also have a character called Lucy popping in for a visit. Lucy is from the Angels and Demons series written by the amazing J.C. Seal. She has collaborated with me and helped me add in some new excitement, and possibly a happily ever after for one of my characters.I know right!? A happily ever after, in my series? I hear poor Freya asking, "what's one of those?"Anywho, jump into the next instalment of the Freya Rose series to find answers to many of the questions you had at the end of Heartbroken By A Hunter.
Everybody's cruising for those Friede x Amethio fics, right? I get it, I was too. Honestly, my journey was kinda messy. I started on AO3, obviously, but the tag situation is a bit of a disaster. Sometimes they're tagged 'Friede Dotter & Amethio', sometimes it's just 'Pokemon Horizons', sometimes it's a character tag that doesn't exist yet. The real trick is to search the pairing in the 'relationship' field with an ampersand, like 'Friede & Amethio', and then sort by kudos or comments. That weeds out a lot of the unrelated gen fics.
What surprised me was finding some of the more interesting takes on Pixiv, of all places. You have to navigate it in Japanese, but using フリード and アメジオ as search terms turns up some incredible fanart with accompanying micro-fics in the descriptions. The dynamic there leans more into the aesthetic and unspoken tension, which for this ship feels right. A lot of the English-language stuff on Tumblr is shorter, moodier pieces, perfect if you're craving that specific 'charged silence in the airship hangar' vibe. My personal favorite right now is a WIP called 'Conductivity' on AO3—it nails Amethio's prickly professionalism slowly corroding.
The obsession is real! For 'Liko x Amethio', you're going to want to focus on Archive of Our Own, known as AO3. It's become the absolute hub for that specific ship. The tagging system means you can find exactly the dynamic you're after, whether it's rivals to lovers, angst, or fluff.
Wattpad has a big presence too, especially for younger writers and readers. The stories there tend to be a bit more straightforward, maybe more focused on the romantic fantasy side of things. It's worth a look, but the tagging is a mess, so you'll have to dig.
I'd say avoid fanfiction.net for this one. The fandom's newer, and the culture just didn't migrate there. Tumblr can be great for finding links and moodboards that point you to fics, but it's not a primary hosting site anymore.
So yeah, AO3 first, Wattpad second, and maybe check Twitter or Discord for recommendations if you're feeling adventurous.
Archive of Our Own absolutely takes the cake for finding quality Amethio and Liko stories. The tagging system is a lifesaver – you can filter for their specific dynamic, exclude other ships, and find stuff ranging from fluffy post-canon scenarios to wild AUs. I binged a fantastic one last week where they were rival historians uncovering Paldea's secrets, and the chemistry was just perfect.
Wattpad has its moments, especially for shorter, sweeter pieces and reader-insert adjacent styles, but you have to dig through a lot of chaff to find the gems. The search isn't as precise. FanFiction.net is pretty sparse for this pairing; the 'Pokémon' section there feels like it's mostly genfic or older ship stuff from ten years ago.
Honestly, don't sleep on Tumblr either. A lot of writers will post snippets, headcanons, and link to their full works on AO3 from there. It's where the fandom chatter happens, so you can get a feel for which authors really nail their voices before committing to a longfic.
