A lot of writers seem to be exploring 'what-ifs' surrounding the Lady and the Thin Man. Fics that flesh out the Maw's hierarchy or the origins of the Transmission are really popular. They're like dark fairy tale expansions. I read one where the Lady wasn't always the master of the Maw, but a previous victim who took the power to survive, and now she's trapped in a cycle of consuming children to maintain her own existence. It's grim, but it makes her more tragic than just a final boss. The same goes for the Thin Man—so many stories try to explain his loneliness and how the Signal Tower warped him. They're essentially monster character studies, and the community eats them up. The lore is so deliberately sparse that it invites this kind of filling-in.

I just can't get enough of seeing Six and Mono sticking together after the end. It's almost an obsession in the fic scene. Everybody is trying to mend that broken bridge after that betrayal. I'll read anything that gives them a chance at a real, quiet friendship somewhere safe.
That AU where the kids escape and get adopted by a weary, kind adult in the normal world is huge. They're just trying to figure out how to be kids again—sleeping in beds, going to school, but always looking over their shoulders. The angst comes from the trauma, not the monsters, and it hits different. It’s less about scares and more about the slow, painful process of learning to trust.
I've also noticed a weirdly specific trend: crossover fics with 'Coraline'. Something about other worlds with tiny doors just fits perfectly. The Thin Man and the Other Mother would probably get along terribly, which is exactly why it works. Honestly, I've read at least three where Mono mistakes the Beldam's world for another part of the Transmission.

My hot take: the fandom's best work isn't about Six or Mono, it's about the side characters and monsters. There's a whole subgenre of fics from the perspective of the Nomes or the Viewers. One I loved was from a Nome's POV, watching the children run through the Maw, feeling pity but being too scared to do more than drop a sausage link. It gives the world a tragic depth the games only hint at. You start to see the Maw as a prison for everyone, not just the kids. Those stories stick with me longer than any straightforward adventure.

Found family tropes dominate. Six, Mono, and Runaway Kid teaming up against the Maw's horrors is a constant. The appeal is obvious: the games are so isolating, so we write the opposite. We give them allies. We let them hold hands in the dark. It’s a direct response to that crushing loneliness the games make you feel.

We all know about the year 2996, when the vampires were in charge but what happened before that? How did the vampire end up taking charge of the whole world?
The year was 2886, and the vampires are taking over the whole world, but what about the humans who refused to obey?
This is the origin of Dom and Littles Academy story, the humans have ruled for a long, but it's now time for them to step down, to be controlled and ruled.
They are submissives, all of them, but what type of submissive are they? A little? A slave? A regular submissive? Or maybe a pet?
Humans are getting classified, changed, and ruled, it's time for the submissives to take their position in the bottom.
Warning this story contains little, ddlg, ddlb, violence, and fluff.

Okay, let me think about this for a second. The 'New Character Adventures' tag is pretty broad for 'Little Nightmares' stuff. A lot of fics just slot a new kid into the Maw or the Pale City and run with the established horrors, which is fun but not always super original. The ones that stick with me build a whole new logic for their character. There's a story I read ages ago, can't remember the title, where the OC was a 'lure'—a kid deliberately placed by the Viewers to draw others out. That flipped the usual dynamic.
Then you've got crossovers, which are basically adventures by definition. I read one where a character from 'Coraline' ended up in the Pale City; the tone actually meshed weirdly well. The author had to invent rules for how the Beldam's magic interacted with the Broadcast, which was more creative than most pure 'Six & Mono' rehashes. Platform-wise, I find the more experimental stuff on AO3, using tags like 'Original Child Character' or 'Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence'. The Wattpad ones tend to be more... straightforward self-inserts, which can be a mixed bag but sometimes hit a specific, nostalgic itch.
Honestly, my favorite part is when the new character's 'adventure' isn't about survival but about changing the ecosystem. There's a WIP where the OC is a failed, sympathetic monster, and the horror comes from them trying to protect Six while their own body betrays them. That's the good stuff.
Searching for those takes some dedicated digging. AO3’s tagging system is your strongest ally here—I’d filter for 'Little Nightmares' and then use the 'Crossover' tag or include specific fandom names in the 'Search within results' box. The tricky part is sifting through the Mono/Six shipping fics to find the actual crossovers.
You’ll see a lot of predictable blends with 'Bendy and the Ink Machine' or 'Fran Bow', which share that creepy-kid aesthetic. More interesting are the weirder ones that pop up occasionally, like fusions with 'Silent Hill' or even 'Doctor Who'. I found a bizarrely effective one where the Maw existed in the world of 'Pan's Labyrinth'; the tone matched perfectly. It’s less about a major archive and more about catching those one-off passion projects when someone tags them right.
The eerie world of 'Little Nightmares 3' pulls me in like a fever dream—this time, we’re following two new characters, Low and Alone, trapped in a surreal desert wasteland called the Necropolis. The vibe is even more unsettling than the previous games, with twisted carnival themes and monstrous entities lurking in the shadows. What’s cool is the co-op element; you can team up with a friend to solve puzzles, which adds a fresh layer of tension. The way the environment tells the story—rusted machinery, eerie mannequins—feels like a silent horror film. I’m obsessed with how the game balances childlike wonder with sheer terror.
Rumors suggest the Necropolis is some kind of purgatory, and the antagonists (like the grotesque 'Monster Baby') might symbolize deeper fears. The trailer’s imagery—giant hourglasses, spiraling tunnels—hints at themes of time and inevitability. It’s less about jump scares and more about dread creeping under your skin. Honestly, I’m already theorizing about how this connects to the Maw from the first game. That signature Tarsier Studios melancholy is everywhere—you just know these kids won’t get a happy ending.
