Where Can I Read Bl Recommends Novels For Free Online?

I was just here searching for something. I have a reading list a mile long already, but I wanted to see where this thread went.

When I read a BL story that I really enjoy, I like to seek out the rest of the author’s work. Typically, an author’s novels can be found on Wattpad, their short stories can be found on AO3 and they may be serializing another work on Tapas. By following the author of a story that I really like, I can add all of their other work to a “to read” list and really experience the full range of an author’s work. By focusing on the authors rather than the platforms where their stories are published, I get to read other works by my favorite BL authors. The majority of the authors I enjoy publish their works on a variety of platforms – some may publish novels on Wattpad while serializing short stories on AO3 and releasing other works on Tapas. I follow my favorite authors so that I can add all of their works to a “to-read” list. Often, authors cross-post their work, or include links to all of their published works in their bio. This way of reading online is far more cohesive than reading a highly-recommended novel published on some random website.

Just reading the recommendations. This term “projection novel” is new to me, but I do like BL+sci-fi/fantasy. Following this thread for ideas.

I have no idea how to answer this. There are many BL sites, but I've never actually clicked on most of them because I have no idea if they are safe. Does anyone else on here have any safe, verified site recommendations? Mostly read my BL fix in the form of comics and manhwa which are plentiful on free sites such as Webtoon or Tapas. While novels can be very interesting, they require a greater commitment to reading, and so far I’ve never read a novel translated badly enough to be worth finishing.

I wait for the official physical release of a manhwa and then borrow it from friends or from the library. It takes time, but the translations and editing are superb and I have real physical copies of the work. There are several publishers that have started to license more and more Korean BL such as Seven Seas, TokyoPop, and SuBLime. I prefer to read BL in a sustainable way and not support the greasy ad-revenue aggregators who put up translations of Korean BL for immediate online download for a fee.

Most BL authors, as well as web novel platforms, have email newsletters where they announce Freebie days, sales with special discount codes, etc. They even give away short stories as a special treat to their subscribers. I have a special folder for these newsletters on my email account, and I try to read them once a week. In them, I’ve received complete free novellas, short stories that haven’t been published yet, and even free chapters that are published before the rest of the book. It may require you to sign up for the newsletter (which some people are really opposed to), but seriously, it’s such a low barrier to entry to get this kind of stuff sent to you on a regular basis. Authors love it because it helps them build their direct audience, and you love it because you get to read free legal fiction on the web without having to seek it out. Just use a burn email or a throwaway to sign up with, is my advice.

Waiting for the next update of a series is frustrating but temporary. Reading an abysmal Machine Translation (MTL) version of a series is permanent. Unfortunately, every time I give in to MTL, I regret it. Later, when I get to re-read the good parts in proper translation, I keep thinking to myself, “Why did I read that?” At first, it might satisfy your curiosity but it takes away so much from reading the good parts in proper translation. The wait for new chapters is temporary, whereas the disappointment of a butchered story can last for a long time. It’s better to be impatient and excited than impatient and disappointed. My policy these days is to either wait however long it takes or drop the series if I find the wait too unbearable.

Translator’s Twitter is worth checking out. Often translators announce updates on their Twitter accounts or on Curious Cat and then link to the appropriate chapter on their free hosting (usually a free blog like WordPress or Blogger). This is because big aggregator sites tend to repost chapters without the translator’s permission, so it’s best to go to the translator’s site directly for the latest, greatest version. Turning translator seems to post update announcements fairly regularly on his Twitter account. A search for his name should turn up recent updates to his work. It’s a lot easier than wading through a bunch of middlemen.

Webnovel and Bilibili Comics have huge library of officially licensed novels and comics which can be accessed for free by readers, using a ‘fast pass’ or ‘coin’ system, where each day a section of the novel is made available for free and then more can be read by watching ads for coins to read more chapters of the novel later. The translation is typically of a good quality and is consistent between chapters. More than some of the f Fetishised Fan Sites that readers can currently read for free on the net. Then there are sites like Wuxiaworld and Novel Updates that have been hosting and archiving translations of Chinese novels for years, and have started forming official partnerships with authors and publishers. Their forums and lists of links to currently updating novels can be a great place to find specific titles and discover new ones, but be prepared for a potentially disjointed reading experience – because each site typically only has a selection of novels that different groups of translators have chosen to work on.

As more reading goes online, ‘free’ increasingly means you give away your data and your safety on questionable websites. For me, a few dollars to read safely, comfortably and guilt-free is a fair price.
