Where Can I Read MTL Novels For Free Online?

After paying for premium translation sites, I still see machine translations used as a promo. Are there any reliable free MTL novel websites, or are they mostly found on aggregator platforms?

In terms of where to find MTL novels, typically they are aggregated on sites that scrape novels from around the web, but the quality is all over the place, and often the content is even illegal to host/read. For a more legitimate take on free-to-read novels, some platforms offer their novels to be read for free on a daily basis, or with ads, and sometimes even offer a “pass” to read a novel for a day or so. For someone interested in reading martial arts cultivation novels of a super accessible style, I’d recommend checking out Martial Dragon Emperor, which is available to read for free on several platforms, following the story of a youth discarded by society who rises to become a sovereign through sheer ruthless ambition and the power of dragons.

I have a bunch of free online novel sites saved in my bookmarks. Of these NovelUpdates is probably my favorite. NovelUpdates is sort of like a database for translated novels (including MTL novels), and you can read user-submitted reviews and even be notified when a novel is updated with new chapters. For Chinese novels I have Wuxiaworld saved as my favorite novel site. There are a lot of Chinese novels and the quality of the MTL can vary greatly (read: be extremely awful) but there are some really great stories, especially in the cultivation/reincarnation genres.

For Korean and Japanese novels, I generally look at ScribbleHub (a lot of original works available for reading) as well as ReadLightNovel. A lot of the authors who post on ScribbleHub also post “MTL-friendly” versions of their work. It can be kind of a chaotic mess, but I often stumble upon links to sites or even Google Drive folders with a big ol’ bundle of MTL-translated chapters to read through. It’s pretty rough grammatically, but once you get used to it, there’s something really endearing about MTL. If you can’t find anything else, even YouTube has that text-to-speech MTL-reading thing going on. But no, it’s not like Shakespeare or anything.

Yes, it can be hard to find sites that host free novels online. I usually use Wuxiaworld because it has plenty of novels translated into English through MTL (Machine Translator Langauge) and some of them are pretty good. I also use NovelUpdates because it has links to all the free novels that have been translated into English through MTL or by fans, sorted by genre or by how popular they are. For Chinese web novels that have been translated into English through MTL, I use Webnovel and BoxNovel. Be warned though that some of the chapters may be behind a paywall. MTLL can also be pretty bad sometimes because of the grammar, but it’s usually worth the trouble to read the rest of the story. There are also many novel hosting forums out there, including the very active and informative community of users on the Reddit forum r/noveltranslations where users post about and recommend their favorite novels that have been hosted on many different novel hosting websites where you can read MTL for free.

For Chinese novels I would recommend checking out Wuxiaworld for a large collection of both professionally translated and MTL (machine translated literature) Chinese novels with a focus on cultivation and xianxia stories. Another site that I use for finding Chinese novels is NovelUpdates. It is more of a directory for Chinese novels on the web, but it has a large collection of novels, and they are searchable by tag (such as ‘completed’ or ‘ongoing’).

For free Korean novels and Japanese novels online, you can check out ReadLightNovel or ScribbleHub where there are many originals as well as MTL (Machine Translated Literature) work and also great community recommendations. For even more niche novels, I have found hidden gems within Discord servers created for specific novels and how the fans edit the MTL work and post them up on Google Docs and even their own personal blogs. Be warned that the quality of the translated work can be ‘unpolished’ but sometimes even more brilliant than normal. As for websites with free sections that also have ads, I recommend checking out BoxNovel as well as Webnovel’s free sections, but just be warned that updates are not always consistent.

Another option to read Webnovels would be to learn to read Chinese or Korean characters. While this might seem like an insurmountable barrier for most people to read full-length novels, many Webnovels are written in a simple style using a fairly limited vocabulary and regular sentence structure. There are tools like LingQ and ReadLang that allow you to ‘click on unknown words to instantly look up their definition.’ Thus, you are actually reading the original Webnovel with the aid of a digital tool, rather than relying on a complete translation. While learning to read Chinese or Korean characters to read Webnovels slowly might seem like a slacker approach, as opposed to other methods to read them, it has a large number of advantages over time. For one, you will actually be learning to read Chinese or Korean, rather than deciphering heaps of rubbish English. As you progress, you start to really appreciate the author’s wordplay, his writing style and much more. Instead of a passive activity that fills you with annoyance and disappointment, reading Webnovels becomes an active, very rewarding experience. And you’ll also open up a huge world of other reading material that will never be translated.

What are the best websites to download MTL novels?

I’ve been hunting down MTL novels for years, and I’ve found a few go-to spots that never disappoint. 'Novel Updates' is a fantastic hub for fan-translated and MTL works, especially for Asian novels. The community there often shares raw links or cleaned-up MTL versions. Another favorite is 'Wuxiaworld', which started with professional translations but now hosts some MTL-friendly content too. For Chinese novels, 'Webnovel' has a mix of official and MTL stuff, though you’ll need to sift through it. 'BoxNovel' and 'LightNovelPub' are also solid choices, offering a wide range of genres with decent MTL readability. These sites are my bread and butter when I’m craving a quick, unfiltered dive into raw storytelling.

Linking you to the pit of endless fandom. Webnovel and Bilibili Comics have huge library of officially licensed novels and comics which can be accessed for free by readers, using a ‘fast pass’ or ‘coin’ system, where each day a section of the novel is made available for free and then more can be read by watching ads for coins to read more chapters of the novel later. The translation is typically of a good quality and is consistent between chapters. More than some of the f Fetishised Fan Sites that readers can currently read for free on the net. Then there are sites like Wuxiaworld and Novel Updates that have been hosting and archiving translations of Chinese novels for years, and have started forming official partnerships with authors and publishers. Their forums and lists of links to currently updating novels can be a great place to find specific titles and discover new ones, but be prepared for a potentially disjointed reading experience – because each site typically only has a selection of novels that different groups of translators have chosen to work on.

Where can I read Tempting the Mafia Twins novel read online free?

I have checked a few of my normal haunts for this and it seems Yonder have it locked down tight. The best way to read this as a legal download would be to sign up for their in-app model and purchase a daily pass to read it. All other claims to download the full novel as a cheaper option are scams. The story is very hot right now, with two possessive twin anti-heroes, so I’d recommend signing up for the app for a bargainous binge read.

Honestly I just bounce between a few sites depending on the novel. If the MTL is too rough, I usually give up and look for a fan translation instead.

Where can I read light novels translation for free online?

This scenario plays out the other way: you want to pay for the work of the author, but the official translation is running years behind the end of publication of the original work. In this case, the fan translation may be 10 volumes ahead of the official English version, and it can be very tempting to just read the free fan translation instead. I support the official version as it comes out, and in the meantime I read the fan translation to keep up with the story as it unfolds. This approach satisfies my strong need to keep reading the story of which I have become very invested, while at the same time not denying revenue to the publisher and author of the work I wish to read. This is a very fair way for me to approach the problem of slow localization.

Can I read Game of Thrones novels online story reading free legally?

Of course, there’s a lot of fun in comparing book to show. But unlike the very faithful first season of television, there are large and soon increasing deviations from the original text as the season goes on. To do this sort of comparison, you’d really need to read the whole, unedited text – something that a free sample would not be able to give you past the introductory setup. The free sample is like the pilot episode of a show. If you like the pilot, you can then subscribe to the channel to watch the rest of the episodes. There is no way to stream an entire TV show for free on its official network (unless you have a subscription). Bookstores work in much the same way as TV networks – the free sample is your free trial, and then you go to the library or buy the book as a subscriber.

Where can I read the best danmei novels for free online?

10 Answers2025-08-11
As someone who has spent countless nights diving into the world of danmei, I can share some fantastic places to read these novels for free. One of my go-to platforms is Wattpad, where you can find a mix of original danmei works and fan translations of popular titles like 'Mo Dao Zu Shi' and 'Heaven Official's Blessings.' The community is vibrant, and many translators pour their hearts into their work. Another great option is Novel Updates, which aggregates links to fan translations across the web. It’s a treasure trove for discovering hidden gems and keeping up with ongoing translations. For those who enjoy historical danmei, sites like Chrysanthemum Garden specialize in high-quality translations of classics like 'The Husky and His White Cat Shizun.' Just remember to support the authors if you can by purchasing official releases later!

Where can I find a light novel to read online for free?

Pivoting slightly – have you considered audio dramas or even audio book versions of these light novels? For example, while there are hardly any light novel audio dramas available in English, many very popular Chinese and Japanese light novels have full-cast audio drama versions. Often these have been fan-subbed and uploaded to YouTube or Bilibili with subtitles, so it’s easy to find and watch for free. These are a different medium to reading the novels themselves, but all telling the same story and in some ways even better. Then there are also the many YouTube channels reading out light novel chapters – often amateur but completely free to watch, and perfect for when you’ve been reading for hours and your eyes are tired, but you still want that fix of a good story. Such videos are scattered everywhere and of very uneven quality, but there must be hundreds of thousands of them out there.

Where to read thai bl novels for free online?

I have no idea how to answer this. There are many BL sites, but I've never actually clicked on most of them because I have no idea if they are safe. Does anyone else on here have any safe, verified site recommendations? Mostly read my BL fix in the form of comics and manhwa which are plentiful on free sites such as Webtoon or Tapas. While novels can be very interesting, they require a greater commitment to reading, and so far I’ve never read a novel translated badly enough to be worth finishing.
