Psychic Princess is actually a donghua, based on a manhua of the same name. I read the Psychic Princess manga, but I suppose if you’re looking for the source comic of the donghua, then the easiest place to read it would be Bilibili Comics. I’ve also recently been reading That Prince Is A Girl: The Vicious King’s Captive Slave Mate for a novel with a similar ‘hidden identity’ plot line. The twist here is that the heroine is disguising herself as a male prince, and once she’s been discovered by the king, things quickly spiral out of control as he is dangerous. It’s a free web novel, and there are several platforms where you can read it.

Read Psychic Princess online for free on MANGA Plus (official release), which has a really huge selection of titles for us to enjoy. In addition, to quickly browse through and read various chapters, MANGA Plus is very easy to navigate around in. While I’m not sure how the Psychic Princess got included on the list of manga I should read, I found it after scanning through a few manga platforms that have popped up in the last few years or so that cater to a growing readership of manga fanatics. I like it because it’s a combination of several different genres. It’s not purely a historical romance, nor is it pure fantasy, nor is it a straight-up comedy, nor is it a purely political drama. All of those things are in there somewhere and they’re all pretty well-balanced. This makes it very popular with a wide readership, but not necessarily the best choice for the strictly genre-identifying reader. “Historical romance” fans might be interested in this because it’s set in a historical time period, but there are also lots of other things going on in this novel – psychic powers, for example, and an assassination plot.
And then of course there is the issue of approaching friends to read it — they’ll be put off by the bizarre synopsis and the strange blend of historical romance, psychic powers, and political assassination that makes up the bulk of the story. Only once they begin to read and are drawn into the intriguing world of the novel’s well-developed characters, and a cleverly constructed plot which knows when to be serious, when to be funny and when to be touching, will they thank you for having recommended it. A bad translation could easily have ruined all this.

‘Suddenly I Became a Princess’ is currently one of my favorite web novels and manhwa, written by an extremely talented author. The story primarily follows the life of a modern-day woman who awoke in the body of a princess to a fictional empire thousands of years in the past, her newfound life a variety of royal shenanigans, often very funny and heartwarming.
Official English translations are available on Tapas or Tappytoon, and new chapters are added every week. Webtoon might have a manhwa adaptation of this web novel as ‘Who Made Me a Princess’ (although this may not be available in all regions). There were once fan translations on aggregators but these are less reliable and of lower quality than official translations – plus they help to pay the writers and artists to keep making the story!
I read this completely by accident a while back and then binge read the whole thing. The art is lovely and the protagonist is immediately like-able due to her wit. There are some BRUTAL cliffhangers though so be warned.

I ended up looking for online versions because I couldn’t find any physical copies. Apparently it is published mainly on Korean web platform KakaoPage. I’m able to read Korean, but for other readers who can’t, the stories are translated and released on Moonreader. The fan translations are done by a group of dedicated translators, and they’re done with the author’s permission. They also do a great job of localizing jokes. The KakaoPage app is kind of a pain to use if you’re not already familiar with the site and account setup, but if you want to read the most up-to-date version of a story as it’s released, that’s the best way to go.

Korean raws are officially released on KakaoPage, but they're in Korean and require payment methods available in Korea. Art is gorgeous, as you'd expect. Chapters are updated as fast as they're released in Korea, but the interface to read them on is somewhat foreign unless you're already familiar with it. All text on the page is in Korean, which is why I mention it at all. Some of the hardest core fans read the raws to stay up to the very second they're released and then read the translations for the dialogue later. But for most international readers, this isn't an option to read Korean comics, although it's the source material for fan translations, which are typically read by fans instead.

For someone who is new to this manga, it’s been hard to keep track of all the different sites with different names but this thread is super helpful to know that Shonen Jump and Manga Plus are basically the two official sites for reading this manga. I’ll start with the free chapters on Manga Plus and then probably subscribe if I end up liking it. From what I gather, the story is pretty good.

Inter-library loan may be able to get the books for you if the library has them within the country. It’s a slow process but it’s free and it’s legal. Many people don’t know that even books that are not in print can be found within large city libraries and university libraries within the country. As the books are in print in the language you need, this could be an old solution to your digital problem. It will take a few weeks, but it’s guaranteed to get you the series you want to read and it’s supporting the libraries too. Thought I’d mention it as it’s an option for those that are happy to wait a few weeks.

Consider the device on which you are reading. A phone and a questionable website can be a terrible combination. On a tablet or computer with a good ad-blocker, the ads are usually pretty bearable. But if you’re reading on a phone, you can try switching to “Reader View” on your browser once you’re on the correct chapter page. It won’t block any redirects, but it will strip out most of the ads and make the rest of the page layout look somewhat better. But honestly, phone is the worst way to read a double-page spread series like Innocent. The composition just gets lost. Read on a bigger screen if you can.

I read most of my manga online through official channels (right now, I’m on Dark Horse’s digital edition of ‘Berserk’, since it’s often cheaper to buy a few volumes at a time than to get them one at a time). Humble Bundle occasionally has a huge sale on manga, including ‘Berserk’.
While fan translations may have sufficed in the past, in the wake of Miura’s passing, I think it’s more important than ever to support the work of his team. As far as I can tell, the official translations really bring out Griffith’s creepiness. Many libraries now carry digital manga, which can be borrowed for free and read in bed with a tablet. The double-page spreads in particular look stunning this way, and really bring home the full extent of the God Hand’s worst nightmares.

Oh oh ‘Killing Stalking’… I read that one a while ago on Lezhin and it completely twisted me around in every way. The tension between the two leads is just incredible and the art is fantastic and perfectly captures the eerie atmosphere of the whole thing. For those interested in reading it legally, I know Lezhin and Tappytoon have it.
Please don’t read this on some of the ‘other’ websites that come up in your search as they can contain malware. I’ve listed a couple of other alternatives that are just as good at the bottom of this post. Warehouse and The Pawn’s Revenge are two other alternatives that are just as good at causing you sleepless nights. Just make sure you read something light and fluffy afterwards though!

When searching for a free novel online I approach it all as a game and each click is a gamble to see if I get a decent website or a site that has been infected with a virus. I managed to strike gold on my third search for a free novel online, FreeNovel.me was the site that I stumbled upon and it had a good ‘next chapter’ button and I was also able to alter the font size which was a luxury as some sites don’t have these facilities. The novel was great, it had the perfect mix of scheming and romance and slowly developed throughout. The male lead was obsessed and this was portrayed in a very creepy yet fascinating way. The site was so easy to read around that I actually was able to get into the story rather than reading and then searching for the next chapter.
