Isn't it funny how we're all here, giving detailed instructions on how to read a story about a mom who just wants to make sure her video game son eats his vegetables? The juxtaposition is hilarious. Anyway, my two cents: the story's heart is in the small moments between the big battles. The order matters less than paying attention to those quiet scenes of her trying to adapt her parenting to a fantasy world.
You could read it backwards and still get the core theme: love transcends worlds.

Look for a site that uses 'Volume' designations. The main story is usually contained in 'Volume 1' and sometimes 'Volume 2.' Any 'Volume 0' or 'Volume 1.5' or 'Side Volume' content should be approached after the primary volumes. This is a common publishing convention that translators often preserve. If a site organizes it this way, it's a reliable signal.
Read Volume 1, then Volume 2 if it exists, then any other numbered volumes or side volumes. It's a simple, effective system.

This might sound obvious, but the table of contents on the site you're using is the first thing to examine. If it's just a numerical list from 1 to 150, you're probably fine. If you see things like 'Arc 1: The Summoning', 'Arc 2: The Academy', then 'Side Story: The Ball', and then 'Arc 3: The War', that's a red flag. A side story plopped between major arcs is likely out of place.
Collapse the ToC and look at the big picture. The main story should form one continuous, escalating plotline without lengthy detours in the middle.

Clara lay on the cold floor bleeding. She stared blankly at the ceiling, and in its reflection, she saw the monster she’d become as her life slipped away.
The cruel wife! The “evil stepmother” everyone despised!!
She had spent years hurting the people who only wanted her love, her husband, and his children until they stopped looking at her with warmth altogether. And now, in her final moments, the one person she trusted stood above her… holding the knife.
Her best friend’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction. “You should’ve listened, Clara,” she whispered before driving the blade in again.
Pain! Regret!! Betrayal!!!
Everything Clara had built came crashing down in a pool of her own blood. If only she could turn back time... just once... she would do things differently. She would protect her family. She would stop trusting the wrong people.
A lone tear slipped from her eye as her body went still... DEAD!
*****
And then... she woke up, gasping for air.
Clara’s heart raced as the realization hit her. She had been reborn. Given a second chance.
This time, she would not waste it.
She would be the mother they needed, the wife he deserved. She will be kind and loving to them.
But when the shadows of her past return and the same enemies begin to stir, Clara learns that kindness alone won’t save them.
To protect her family, she must become what everyone once feared... An evil stepmother capable of vengeance.
Clara died as a villain… and returned to become their savior. Because in her death, she found regret. But in her rebirth, she'd find revenge.
They killed her once. They won’t live to do it again. Clara returned from the grave with one goal... to protect her family and vengeance.

Interviewer, "If you and your husband's mistress are drowning, who would he save first?"
Scarlett Tates scoffs, "That's a ridiculous question. I don't have the time to play such stupid games. In Fact, you've just reminded me to take swimming lessons."
Dakota Asgrave frosts over, "Mrs Asgrave how can I be your prince charming if you don't spare me some opportunities? You, stop this interview! How dare you put bad thoughts into my wife's mind?! Isn't it hard enough that she is a prodigy in everything?!"
Interviewer, "..."

Scarlett Tates, an overbearing aristocrat, didn't expect the cliche that happens in books to happen to her as well. Her fiance, whom she donated a kidney to, cheated on her with her senior step-sister. Distraught, she sought solace in alcohol and ended up sleeping with an unknown man!
Strangely, after that steamy night she found herself, bloody and with a sickly baby girl in front of her parents' gates with no memory of what had happened or where she's been in the last 9 months!
Over the next ten years, the once proud woman was chastised by the world, used and abused by her family, fiance and her once greatest hope of a love-filled life, her husband. What's worse she was separated from her daughter for five years!
In the end, Scarlett died a miserable death of being run down by a car like an animal and made a wish in her last breath. It seemed God had finally noticed her when she opened her eyes, back five years in the past!
After being given a second chance how will Scarlett take charge of her life? What truths might she discover on her way of becoming the next top doctor?
When Gwyneth opened her eyes, she found herself in a webnovel she had just binge-read, and she wasn’t just a random character—she was the villain’s mother! In the story, after the tragic death of her first husband, the original owner of her body had swiftly moved on and snagged a perfect new partner, only to heartlessly cast aside her son from the first marriage, worrying he would become a burden.
Now armed with knowledge of the impending plot twists and the looming shadows of her future villain son, Gwyneth glanced at her surprisingly alive first husband and groaned. With the script she had been dealt, she'd rather face a dragon than revamp this narrative! She was determined to rewrite her destiny, but how could she escape this villainous fate?
My mom, Olivia Taylor, is a selfless and devoted teacher who is admired by everyone at school.
But I know better.
When I apply for financial aid, she tells me that other students need the money more than I do and says I should learn to care for my classmates.
When I win a writing competition, she awards the prize money to Myra Davis, the girl who has made my life a misery, and tells me not to get too full of myself.
When I submit my college applications, she secretly rewrites them and offers the spot to the same girl.
In the end, Myra pushes me from a rooftop.
Mom says I am rotten to the core and deserve to be taught a lesson. Then she marries into Myra's family and becomes her stepmother.
When I open my eyes again, I find myself reborn on the very day I apply for financial aid.
What happens when the tormented female lead in a novel wakes up and decides to get together with the second male lead?
Coincidentally enough, I'm transmigrated into the body of this tormented female lead!
My mother was the villainess of a story. When I was born, the story came to its end.
In the past, she was a rich heiress who drowned herself in luxury and pleasure. At present, everyone condemned her and spat in her path.
After my father, the male lead of the story, betrayed her, her family went bankrupt.
She knew nothing and had no skills, but for me, she was willing to learn from scratch.
I treat it like a trilogy. Part One is the complete main novel. Part Two is the collection of side stories that directly continue the narrative. Part Three is the more experimental or 'what-if' extras. This mental framing helps me compartmentalize and appreciate each segment for what it is. Trying to blend them into one continuous narrative does a disservice to the distinct tone and purpose of each section.
I’ve had a great experience with the Kindle app for this genre. You can sample the first chapter for free, which lets you check the translation quality before buying. The ‘Look Inside’ feature is super handy. If you have a tablet, the reading experience is fantastic. I appreciate that I own the book and can re-download it anytime, unlike some subscription models where access disappears if you stop paying. For series that release slowly, I just wishlist them and get an email when a new volume drops.
I've had good luck with the 'ReadNovelFull' website. It's another aggregator, but it has a decent mobile format and a working table of contents. The ads aren't as brutal as some other sites. They seem to source from a specific set of translators, so the quality is somewhat consistent for the first hundred chapters or so. It's not ideal, but for a free, readable option that doesn't require jumping between blogs, it's served me well. I just wish they had a better way to notify you when new chapters are added.
The art on the official promo material tells you everything. It’s always Aisha holding or standing with Abel, with Cedric positioned protectively beside or behind them. That visual composition screams ‘central trio.’ The marketing doesn’t hide it; it’s a story about this specific family unit against the world.
